Mom Paula should have known better! She bought a kitty tree for me that is only 5 feet tall because she is a little shorter than 5 feet and she wanted to be able to reach me. She also put the tree in front of the window so I could look out. She also took down the drapes on this window so I wouldn't be tempted to climb them. This looks safe enough, huh?
So, like any good kitty would do, I began investigating the kitty tree. Notice the piece of furniture beside the tree. That's mom's "secretary desk" where the ashes of Sweet Praline and Beignet are kept. First, I jumped up and investigate the cave. It looked pretty interesting.
Then I jumped up to the top and took a moment to look at the Bird TV!
Wait a minute! What's that up there?
Mom Paula saw me looking up and said, "no way can you get up there!" I guess I proved her wrong! I'm the Queen of my domain!
Do you see how far I had to jump to get on top of the secretary desk? Mom Paula kept saying, "Persians don't jump!" She quickly ran to get her 3-step stool (after taking a quick picture) to get me down. I looked at her with a look that said, "what's your problem?" Mom Paula keeps debating on whether to move the kitty tree.
Mom Paula: Truffle scared me to death when she did this! I was concerned that she would fall off of the back or slide as she was trying to get down because of the slope of the top. I'm still debating on whether to move the tree or not!

Calpurnia does some jumping and she's probably 6-7 years old! When I first got her and left her alone in her iso room I heard a thump and came in and saw her on top of some shelves maybe 6.5 feet high. She went to the window and up.
ReplyDeleteSince she was hobbled at the time by huge mats between her front and back legs, it was especially impressive. The thump was that she was coming about 6 inches short and her back legs smacked the edge of the shelf. I rearranged things so she didn't have quite as high a jump and could make it.
It seemed to give her a lot of confidence to be above me and she would let me reach up and pet her. If I sat down on the couch, she would jump straight down to sit too which was pretty alarming.
We say move the tree. What a little jumper! Good luck! xoxo
ReplyDeleteOh Miss Truffle you do make me smile... Don't scare your mum like that!
ReplyDeleteHugs and cuddles!
Wow Truffle, that's pawsome you got up there. Of course, you know that I, of all kitties, think your human should not only leave the tree where it is, but add something extra to make it even easier for you to get up! ;-)
ReplyDeleteOMC! Truffle, you are WAY up high! How DID you not slip and slide on the slopey top? I say keep the tree where it is for Truffle to be able to get up there. Mom says Move the Tree!!
ReplyDelete*sigh*
ReplyDelete*sigh*
*sigh*
*swoon*
Cats climb. And jump. And investigate. They absolutely despise a lateral world. Refuse to live in one, in fact. So as long as there is nothing breakable or messy on top off the desk...
ReplyDeleteTruffle, you are gonna be a high-climbin queen! I can tell!
ReplyDeleteAyla
OMC !!!! Truffle !!! You are so little but your skill is superb !!!! Paw Up for you !
ReplyDeletexoxo
We're not sure if we should be impressed with your jumping skills or angry for giving your mama a scare like that!
ReplyDeleteAdorable Truffle...you maybe little but you sure are mighty !!
ReplyDeleteEva & Gracie's Mom
Wow, Truffle, we can tell you're slowly but surely finding your way around your new home. So, when you got up there, did you see what you wanted to see?
ReplyDeleteAnd, Mom Paula, while it's nice to have the tree in front of the window, it would probably give you a bit of piece of mind if you moved it.
Although since Truffle is so smart, she'd probably find something else to set your heart a flutter.
You go girl!!! Our mom says not to move it yet. Maybe since she has seen what's up there she may not go back. She just has a lot of house to check out every inch of so that's why she was up there.
ReplyDeleteWe have to agree with Laila and Minchie. She may never go up there again. But on the other hand, I think I would move it since she is alone there some of the time. Truffle, you are keeping your Mom on her toes, aren't you.Good job. Praline, you need to get started training that little silly goose. Take care.
ReplyDeleteWow, Rosie never jumped like that, maybe 3 feet. I think you should move the tree to a wall with absolutely nothing around it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great athlete you are going to be Truffle - are you going to take part in the Olympic Games?
ReplyDeleteLuv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
snort - ok, now that we are done giggling, we would move the tree.
ReplyDeleteOh - and our mom is like yours - take a picture and THEN do something to fix the problem. MOL
Truffle, you must haf some Meezer in you. Meezers like to be "up" whenefur possible.
ReplyDeletewow, truffle! you are already in trainin' fur the catolympics!! try not to scare yer mama, though, ok?
ReplyDeleteMommy is laughing so hard! WAY TO GO TRUFFLE!!! You are Queen of the World!!! Wow......impressive!
ReplyDeleteIf you don't want scratches on your secretary desk, you'd best move the tree. I suspect Persians can jump better as kittens than adults.
ReplyDeleteNo one can stop the Power of the Kitteh-tot! (Maybe move the tower for a few weeks?)
ReplyDeleteTHat was a pawsome jump. Truffle!
ReplyDeleteGood going, Trubble -- we mean, Truffle! You showed everyone that cats are supposed to climb and jump!
ReplyDeleteHoney, tell mommy to move the tree. xxoo
ReplyDeleteha! Good job, Truffle! I think the tree should stay...some kitties NEED high places and most kitties are agile enough and flexible enough that the slope won't be a problem.
ReplyDeleteOr, she could get someone really tall to con in and put something flat right above the slope...but if you like really high places you probably need them...kinda like me, I love high places. They make me feel safe.
I say = Way to go Truffle !
ReplyDeleteMy mom say´s = Oh no watch out Truffle !
We vote to leave the tree where it is - I love love love to be up high and that secretary makes me a little bit jealous. Mama suggests maybe putting a rug up there just to protect it from clawr scratches. Oh, and she also says to make sure that Praline and Beignet's ashes are somewhere really safe. EG and I might have gotten into Shadow's ashes and maybe might have spilled them when we maybe sort of broke the container that was sitting on a shelf. Mama was really really sad and horrified and then had to clean up the ashes. We felt a little bit bad about that and wouldn't want Mom Paula to have to go through that.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Tazo
PS - We love love love your bloggie! It's so pretty and purple!
We hate to be spoilsports, but we think the tree probably needs to move. We're worried because the top of that piece looks like it would be too easy to slip off of and pretty high if Truffle decided to try to jump off. Mom had to move a chair in our living room because Ellie decided it was a good springboard for the very high entertainment center.

We say, install a shelf up there! It looks like a grand place for a nap.
ReplyDeleteTruffle
ReplyDeleteMom has a 6 foot tall oak cabinet that houses all of Daddy's "hummels", and it sits on the hearth off of the ground floor, so it's about 8 feet tall all together. One morning when Mom was working, she noticed Ping was up on top. She has no idea how he got up there as there didn't seem to be a way for him to get up on top. But there he was. She got him to jump down, but ever since he's been the one to be our 'troublemaker'. Be very careful where you climb dear one.

WOW! Great job, Truffle! :)
ReplyDeleteWay to go, Truffle! We use our cat tree to get to the top of the armoire, but ours is flat on top, and not such a big leap!
ReplyDeleteYou are very adventurous Truffle. That is a long way up.
ReplyDeleteYou are quite the leaper, Truffle!!
ReplyDeletePawsome !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is a BIG jump for a little kitty :)
Mickey was the jumper in our family.
Go Truffle!!!!!!!!!
Purrs Tillie and Georgia
Truffle you did good. It was like me jumping up to the top of the corner cupboard. It freaked mum out a first but know I do it a couple of times a week.
ReplyDeleteJust keep jumping!
Ducky
Whadda ya mean Persians don't jump!?!
ReplyDeleteYou have just shot a million holes in that cockeyed theory!!
Oh that looks like a cool place to explore to me!
ReplyDeleteI knew you had it in you, Truffle!
ReplyDeleteYou're "full of it"!!
