Beautiful picture of Truffle if it were clearer. She's always moving when the camera comes out.
Love this head shot of Brulee but it could be clearer.
Mom Paula: I really need help! I have three great cameras (even the same type that Terri had when she sent me the glamour shots) but I can't figure out how to get good clear pictures of the girls! For those of you who always have clear pictures, please feel free to email me (sweetpurrfections.blogspot.com). I have a Canon Rebel EOS (6.3 Megapixel), a Canon PowerShot SX120 IS (10 Megapixes), and a Nikon Coolpix (14 Megapixel). I know natural sunlight would be the best but my house doesn't face in the correct direction to get this light, so I usually have to depend on the flash. Some of you really have the best and clearest pictures and I'm jealous!
THose are beautiful. I have no experience with cameras. I just point and shoot and shoot and hope for the best!
ReplyDeleteIf you look again, you'll notice that at the resolution you have she doesn't look that blurred--and that's part of it--you aren't seeing the level of detail on our shots that you do on yours. Also, we literally take HUNDREDS of shots with our DSLR to get maybe two dozen that work and some of those are not that great. But I snap and snap and snap. Also adding in some high powered garage work lights has helped too. There was a halogen lamp for working in a workshop that we got when a former co-worker of Dennis' auctioned his stuff to move out of the country and so we get light from that. And then sometimes we actually get sunlight which is always good and we have a shoe flash which helps for light as well (although it's slow).
ReplyDeleteKatie and GloGirly had lots of great tips to help with pics.

ReplyDeleteI take a kazillion pictures to get a few good ones. On my best weeks, I take well over 100 pictures then select the top ones to use. I sometimes use a tripod to help get a clear shot. Since we are in the NW and get SO many dreary gray days I've been tempted to get a lighting set up to help, meaning a light set up on a tripod with a white umbrella to diffuse the light. I think you can get them inexpensively and since I get so frustrated in the winter months it might be worth it. Glogirly did have great tips on the blog today!
ReplyDeleteI won't use flash indoors as it totally washes out the photos unless I deliberately want laser beams to show up!
You have great cameras! My human takes WAY too many photos of me. But she is also a Photoshop geek. If she likes a photo a lot and it isn't 100% clear, she sharpens it in Photoshop. That has saved more pictures than I should probably admit. I am sure most photo software, including the inexpensive ones, have this capability.
ReplyDeleteNo help with the pics but you two kittens are still so cute even though you are growing!
ReplyDeleteThat first pic of Truffle is lovely - I love her silver/grey highlights.
With a 10 or 15 Megapixel camera don't be afraid to zoom out and take a wide shot. You can crop it down a lot after the fact and still have a resolution left.
ReplyDeleteI use the flash, and live with the laser eyes. You can avoid them sometime by picking a good angle. Also centering the picture on the white fur seems to help the camera to pick a less bright flash, at the expense of dimming out the background some.
My pictures aways look blurry to me, but by the time I resize them, most of them (from the camera, not from the phone) look pretty good. These pictures of yours look good to me! I'm willing to bet that Ann can sharpen them if they need it.
ReplyDeleteThe one thing I know is that the camera must be still. It's so easy to jerk the camera a little when squeezing the button. I have a tiny tripod and I need to get it out, maybe mine will come out better...
Oh my gosh, talk about timing! check this out

Wow, you are both growing so quickly! Love the head shot of Brulee.
ReplyDeleteGood clear cat pictures are really hard. With my Canon T1i, I use low aperture (f-stop) settings and whatever natural light I can take advantage of.
I only have 2 suggestions:
ReplyDeleteNatural light (I absolutely never ever use a flash)
Take tons and tons and eventually you get a couple that come out nice.
Visit Katie and Glogirly...they just posted some tips on how to take good pictures. Our mom takes a gazillion of us and only a few may turn out okay. But we think the one of Brulee is great...and Ann can work wonders with photoshop!!
ReplyDelete"The Boys" and I know "nuttin;" about taking good photos. We do, however, know beautiful kitties when we see them.
ReplyDeleteTruffle is drop-dead gorgeous, and Brulee is, too.
Clear or not, we adore each picture of those sweet girls!
ReplyDeletePaula, I am no help. I just don't know that much about camera's and how to take good pictures. That picture of Brulee looks good to me. Sounds like you had some great suggestions. Take care
ReplyDeleteThe pictures look good to me and dont forget that Ann can work magic with pictures.. Barrie never uses flash but uses the P setting and they usually come out good on that.. I know your header from Ann will be brilliant.. Hugs GJ xx
ReplyDeleteBoth those photos are lovely poses and really for the size of a header, are not blurry enough to worry about. One thing a pro photographer told me was to make sure to clean around eyes, as debris can be photoshopped out but really affects the look of the photo even when well done.
ReplyDeleteBoth lovely pics. The second one would be slightly better if looking more directly at the camera.
ReplyDeleteI agree, both of those are great pics! You got one cool camera!
ReplyDeletewait until they are asleep and wont move??
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful girls and beautiful photos...I have no suggestions (except for the sleeping photos) because I literally take over a thousand photos of my babies a month and pick out the ones I got lucky with to use on the blog!...Posting daily, as you know, is a big job and a total labor of love...Good luck, Paula=of course, you always do a great job=we LOVE you, your girls and your blog!...Happy Spring, precious friends...xoxo...J, Calle, Halle, Sukki
ReplyDeleteWe agree with what the other commentors are saying. TAKE a lot of pictures. I also take 100's and use only about 10. Natural light is really the best. The sun gives the BEST light. YOU have great cameras I am sure you will be happy with the results, but photo editing is so very helpful too.

Can't offer any advice or help but we know we love what we see every time we visit!
ReplyDeleteMy Human is mostly a FAIL at photography (if she happens to get a good one, it's just dumb luck). But I will definitely enjoy perusing the lovely practice shots, MOL!
ReplyDeleteWe have no advice to offer, either; mama is jealous of people with better cameras than we have!
ReplyDeleteBoth pictures look great to us. Our mum only has a point and shoot and uses a low resolution because with our slow speed broadband the photos would take forever to load, so we have to make do with what we can get.
