Today is an annual event on the CB to celebrate all things cats! This is our first time participating in this event, so it's pretty special to us.
Truffle, Brulee on our new quilt! We love quilts!
Some of you commented on our blog last week about our Aunt Dorenda being a dog person and Mom Paula being a cat person. It may surprise many of you to know that Mom Paula grew up with dogs and didn't have her first cat until she was 21 years old. Mom Paula wanted a pet and her "now-ex-husband" didn't like dogs, so Mom Paula said she wanted a cat, but that it had to live inside! That was the beginning of Mom Paula becoming a cat lady. Mom Paula has only had 4 cats, which includes the two of us, over the past 35 years. Hard to believe, isn't it? To celebrate World Cat Day, we're sharing pictures of Mom Paula's feline furchildren.
Mom Paula's first cat was born under a mobile home in rural South Carolina. Muff was a beautiful grey and white cat who lived to be 19 years old and left for the Bridge in 1996 right before Mom Paula's divorce.
Muff
Mom Paula's second cat was Sweet Praline. Miss Paula's Sweet Praline was a tortoiseshell Persian and lived almost 16 years and left for the Bridge in April 2011. Sweet Praline came to live with Mom Paula right before her divorce (after 21 years of marriage) and will always have a special place in her heart. Mom Paula began blogging with Sweet Praline in June 2008.
Sweet Praline
Beignet never had the chance to come live with Mom Paula because he left for the Bridge at 11 weeks of age. Mom Paula says he'll always be her little mancat even though he never lived with us. Beignet was Truffle's litter mate and was a silver shaded Persian.

Truffle came to live with Mom Paula in September 2011. Crystalpurrs Truffle Blanche is a silver shaded Persian and wormed her way into Mom Paula's heart very quickly. Truffle has the biggest eyes that just look into your soul when she looks at you. Truffle may be beautiful, but she is always into mischief. Truffle was a year old on June 2, 2012 and the CB celebrated with a Debutante Ball.
Brulee came to live with Mom Paula in November 2011. Crystalpurrs Creme Brulee is a silver shaded Persian and is a half sister to Truffle. Brulee is a little clown and helps Mom Paula laugh each day. Brulee has very luxurious thick fur, but is a little wiggle worm and fights Mom Paula everyday when it comes to grooming. Brulee will be one year old on August 27, 2012 and will celebrate with a Circus on the CB.

Happy World Cat Day, girls!
ReplyDeleteIt should definitely always be World Cat Day. In fact, I thought it was.
ReplyDeleteEvery one of you kitties, past and present are very special! Oh, and that toy Brulee is playing with? We had one just like that... and it got unraveled, just the way yours is starting to!
ReplyDeleteAll of you are sweet. And I particularly like my almost twin! But you are right. Every day is World Cat Day.
ReplyDeleteI guess it's like Mom's Day. Celebrated once a year officially, but every day in our hearts....
Happy World Cat Day! And thanks for sharing those pictures with us. We're glad Mom Paula became a cat person...even though woofies aren't that bad.
ReplyDeleteThat was such a nice post. Nice to meet Muff. And it is really great to see a picture of Sweet Praline. She was so pretty. But Truffle and Brulee, you two are just gorgeous too. We love seeing you every day. Take care.
ReplyDeleteWhat a very sweet World Cat Day post! We know every day in your house is a special cat day!
ReplyDeleteHappy Happy cat day to you and your sweet Mom. We enjoyed reading about the cats and dogs who paved the way for you two to live with your Mom
ReplyDeleteHugs Madi
Happy World Cat Day! We think it's cool your mom didn't grow up with cats--our human didn't either! But we Felines know how to win them over and train them right! :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy World Cat Day - Mum never had a cat when she was a child as the fur gave her Mum asthma!! Mum had a cat shortly after she left home and has never been without one since.
ReplyDeleteLuv Hannah and Lucy xx xx (we are numbers 4 and 5)
Happy World Cat Day!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful tributes and beautiful photos for World Cat Day! Thank you!
ReplyDeletePurrs from Seth, Maxx, Newton, Tessa & Pia Bean
Happy World Cat Day! Of course even though we may count ourselves as 'cat' people, we love dogs, too.
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting to know that you only became a cat person as an adult -- and that you've only had four cats in your entire life -- two of those being your current babies.
I hope that Truffle and Brulee live long, long lives -- even longer than Muff and Sweet Praline. You sure must be doing something right! Must be all that love.
What a beautiful cat family of before brothers and sisters. Happy world cat day. FAZ
ReplyDeleteHappy World Cat Day girls!
ReplyDeleteHappy World Cat Day girls! You are both such beautiful floofiest cats!

Love, Cody
Happy World Cat Day!!

Tom, Mom Julie & the gang
What a beautiful posting!
ReplyDeleteIt shows you how long of a life cats truly have. As we age we do have to be considerate of that especially if we do not want to leave our cats to someone else's care.
Mom Paula this was just so lovely to hear about all of your heart kitties.
Happy World Cat Day.

We luffed reading all about your Kitties, Mom Paula! Happy World Cat Day!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful Kitties! I am glad I found you on the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop!
ReplyDeleteHappy World Cat Day you sweet precious babies! We were blogging in time to meet the beautiful Sweet Praline. We wish we could have known Muff better. We cried boo-hoo tears over baby Beignet racing on off to the Rainbow Bridge. He must have seen some other babies there that needed him to come play. We enjoy your stories of each kitty. They all made us smile. And we agree, every day should be World Cat Day!
ReplyDeleteTake care, sweet Friends! We always keep purrs for your Mom Paula and we will come visit you again soon. Hugs, purrs and kitty kisses to you sweethearts :-)
Oh, what magnificent tails on that top picture! You two are so adorable.
