Friday at the Movies - Thirsty Cat Fountain

We are so excited to tell you about the new fountain we received from Thirsty Cat Fountains to review.  Many of you will remember that Truffle began developing feline acne on her chin a couple of months ago.  We started searching for causes of this and everything we read talked about using plastic dishes.  We knew it wasn't our food dishes because we eat out of the china.  However, our cat fountain bowl was made of plastic.  Mom Paula began searching for possible fountains made of something other than plastic and she discovered the ceramic fountains at Thirsty Cat Fountains.  Keith sent us this beautiful blue ceramic fountain with the Cat Cat Tap add-on in addition to the traditional copper spout that comes with the fountain.  We'd love to purchase the Two Cat Cat Tap add-on when there are more green papers so both of us can enjoy the water flow at the same time.

Each fountain is 100% food-safe and handmade, which makes each one unique.  The pumps are the highest quality aquarium pumps available and have a polarized, two prong plug.  We were amazed at how quiet this pump was.  The only sound you hear is the water flowing.  The copper spouts are the same copper that is used in plumbing of upscale homes and have proven to be a natural anti-microbial.  All the glazes used are 100% food-safe.  Each fountain comes with the pump, a pump-hide/pre-filter, anti-microbial copper spout, and a ceramic leaf (to cover the cord for visual appeal).
Brulee and the fountain with the cat cat tap add-on
Just as soon as Mom Paula plugged in the fountain, we came running to check it out.  We didn't shy away from it at all because all we heard was the water falling.  Mom Paula put the traditional copper spout on the fountain first and let us check it out.  The traditional copper spout mimics a natural spring and allows the water to "bubble up".   In the video below, Truffle investigates first and then Brulee takes over the fountain.  As you can tell, she not only drinks from it, she likes to play in it.

Mom Paula then changed to the Cat Cat Tap add-on, which mimics a water fall.  We preferred this spout because we love to drink from flowing water.

We LOVE this fountain and it makes Mom Paula happy because she knows it's healthy for us!  Keith is offering a special discount for anyone who buys a fountain from him using the special code "purrfections" for a 10% discount.  Please visit his website at http://www.etsy.com/shop/CatFountains# and consider purchasing one of these beautiful handmade fountains.

As you can see from the video below, both of us love drinking from our Thirsty Cat Ceramic Water Fountain.  Thank you to Keith for sending us one to try out, review and to keep.

A Gem Among Stones

Brulee has discovered the top of Mom Paula's dresser.  Because of this, Mom Paula purchased a hanging jewelry holder.  Mom Paula caught Brulee sitting on top of some jewelry boxes looking like the beautiful precious gem she is.  Mom Paula says Brulee is more precious than her grandmother's pearls (see in background).

Easy Like Sunday

Our Gamecocks beat those Tigers last night which was four years in a row.  We haven't beaten our arch rivals four years in a row since the 1950s.  We're exhausted after helping our mom cheer the Gamecocks on in our living room last night.  We're going to take it easy today.

Photo Hunt - Fall

Today our South Carolina Gamecocks play our in-state rivals, the Clemson Tigers.  We're hoping those Tigers "fall" to our Gamecocks.  We thought some of you may remember us on this same blanket wearing our Gamecock scarves from last "Fall" but these are current pictures.  We're just playing like kittens.
We're all decked out in our Gamecock scarves to watch the game.

The game is televised on ESPN at 7:00 pm EST tonight.  Go Gamecocks!

Pee ess - We want to thank Ann for our holiday look this season.

Friday at the Movies - Enjoying Laxatone

One of the things you get with kitties, especially us floofy kitties, is hairballs.  Sweet Praline used to get them all the time and even had some blockages, which required vet attention.  Mom Paula had to give her special supplements, food and a lubricant (such as Laxatone).  Sweet Praline hated the texture of Laxatone.  Mom Paula would have to pry open Sweet Praline's jaws and put a big slab of Laxatone at the back of her tongue.  Not with us!!!  Truffle had her first hairball this summer right after she turned one year old, so Mom Paula decided it was time to try some Laxatone.  We love this stuff.  In fact, we eat it right from the tube as if it was kitty candy.  Even Brulee loves this stuff and it must work because she hasn't had any hairballs yet.  This flavor is catnip flavor and we thought you'd enjoy watching us devour this stuff.

We hope all of you had a wonderful  Thanksgiving and will avoid all of the crowds on this "Black Friday."

Happy Thanksgiving

We want to wish all of our furriends and their humans a wonderful thanksgiving today.  We're so thankful for the CB and for everything you've done for us.

Pee ess - Mom's knee is much better, which is something we're all very thankful for today.  The pain level went from a 12 to a 3 today!

Tuesday Tails

Brulee has this extremely long, floofy tail that is as long as her body.  In fact, when she walks, she tends to curl it up like a little piglet.  Her tail also gets mats in it, which is something new for Mom Paula because Sweet Praline never had mats in her tail.  MOL!
Brulee and her floofy tail!

Truffle's tail isn't as thick or as long as Brulee's, but it's still beautiful.
We're giving Mom Paula the back of disrespect because she's been too busy lately.

Pee ess - The names for Secret Paws were emailed to everyone last night.  If you didn't receive your name, please email us at sweetpurrfections@sc.rr.com.

Helping Out

Mom Paula spent all Saturday and Sunday night completing the Secret Paws exchange list.  We hope to have all of your notifications to you by tonight.  I thought I'd give Mom Paula a helping paw while she was working.  But as you can see, Mom Paula was looking at pictures of her great niece, Zoey, instead of working.  I told her that wasn't appropriate and if she was going to look at anything cute, it'd better be me!
Look at me Mom! Look at Me!

Easy Like Sunday

We're taking it easy this morning.  Mom Paula has been on the road, visiting family in the hospital, taking a friend to the hospital, and attending a funeral, so she's exhausted.  We think we have all of the Secret Paws matched up and we plan on notifying each of you who you have by the end of the day today.  Please double check on the Secret Paws 2012 blog to make sure your name is listed and notify us if something is wrong.
What we're really doing is watching Mom Paula work!

Photo Hunt: Mural

Today's Photo Hunt theme is mural.  Mom Paula remembers watching a painter paint a mural on their living room wall at her parents house when she was a little girl (1960s).  It was a beautiful mural of a southern antebellum scene.  Mom Paula loved horses then and she kept asking if he was going to paint a horse in the scene.  The painter asked for a picture and Mom Paula found a picture of a horse in one of her books and he painted it on the wall.  That mural stayed on her parents' wall until a few years ago when Grandma Faye decided she wanted a new look and painted over it.  Mom Paula admits she was a little sad when that happened.

In the meantime, here is our view of what a mural should look like.  We were able to do this mural from a cool website called Photofunia.

Our Gamecocks play their last home football game today against the Wofford Terriers.  This game is on Pay Per View in SC, but our furriends out of SC can watch it on ESPN3 on their computers at 1:00 pm EST.  Go Gamecocks!

Friday at the Movies: We Got Ham

We've been reading about some of our furriends and their love for ham and we've always wondered if we'd like it.  Mom Paula is very careful what she feeds us, so she hasn't allowed us to have any.  That is, until this week!  We didn't know what we were missing!  Of course, Truffle made a "pig" of herself.
Truffle "grabbing" the ham from Mom Paula's fingers

Mom Paula only let us have a couple of pieces, but you can see that Truffle loved it.  She was determined to eat and lick every last bite from Mom Paula's fingers and hand.

Brulee was very "ladylike" in how she ate her ham.  We know this is a special treat and we won't get a lot of it, but we're going to enjoy it while we can.
Brulee checking out the ham.

We have over 50 participants for the Secret Paws 2012 exchange.  Just in case some of you forgot, we will accept names today, but today is the final day to send in information.  Mom Paula hopes to have all of the names out to everyone by Monday.  We'll be posting a special offer from Nip and Bones for Secret Paws this year, too!

Keeping Our Tummies Warm

Brrrrrrr!  The weather has turned cold this week.  We know ... we know.  Highs in the 50s isn't cold to a lot of you, but for us ladycats in the South, it's cold!  Mom Paula refuses to turn up the heat, so we've resorted to keeping our tummies warm by resting on the printers.  It also keeps Mom Paula from working, too!

Trouble Truffle Tuesday

It's that time again!  It's Trouble Truffle Tuesday.  We let the majority of the posts last week be dedicated to Brulee since it was her first Gotcha Day, but it's time to get back on track again.  Mom Paula was hunting Truffle the other day and couldn't find her.  Finally, after calling Truffle's name and looking under the couch, the bed, the dresser, and in all the rooms, Mom Paula finally found her here!
Were you hunting me?  Brulee and I were just hanging out.

Mom Paula:  Brulee was following me around hunting Truffle and jumped up on the counter when I turned the light on and found Truffle.  I just had to grab the camera because she looked so cute in the sink.

Don't get any bright ideas about turning on the faucet!

Mom Paula:  I wouldn't do that to you, would I?  LOL.  Especially when you look at me like this.

How could anyone this adorable get into trouble???

Don't forget to send us your Secret Paws information this week!!!  You can get the information on how to participate by clicking on the graphic on our sidebar or by clicking here.

Pee pee ess - We forgot that today was Veteran's Day in the United States.  We were thinking it was Monday since Mom Paula has a work holiday tomorrow, but after we looked at the calendar, we realized it was today.  We want to thank all of the humans that have served in the military to help preserve our freedom.  Mom Paula's dad, Paul, is a Naval veteran, who served during the Korean Conflict.

Caturday Saturday

Mom Paula said something about going to the football stadium to watch our Gamecocks today.  We don't know why she has to leave the house when there are plenty of Gamecocks right here at home.  Brulee is pointing out the Gamecocks in the lamp to Mom Paula.

Well, you guess it.  Mom Paula didn't buy it.  Our South Carolina Gamecocks are playing the Arkansas Razorbacks today at 12:00 noon EST on CBS.

Friday at the Movies: New Box

It worked!!!  All of your comments about our missing box made Mom Paula feel guilty and she emptied another box and put it in the hallway for us.  Look who was thrilled to have her box back!
Brulee:  Yippee!  My box is back!

Truffle then decided that she wanted the box all for herself and resorted to the big sister role.
Truffle:  This is my box, Brulee.  Out!

Doesn't Truffle look very proud of herself for pushing Brulee out of the box.
Truffle:  Now that's more like it.

Don't worry.  We did share the box some.  Mom Paula promised she'd keep our box out for a little while, but said she needs to clear out the hallway so she won't trip over the box.  We say she should watch where she's going.  Here's a little video of us rejoicing over our new box.

Pee ess - Don't forget to send us your information if you want to participate in Secret Paws this year.  The deadline for submitting your information is November 15.  Click on the graphic on our sidebar.

Where's Our Box?

We've posted several times about our Mr. Chewy box we received back in January last year and that Mom Paula has kept it in the hall for us to play in, even filled with papers.
Brulee relaxing in her box in the hallway!

Mom Paula decided to take advantage of not being at a ballgame this weekend and cleaned out some more "junk" and papers.  Look what we discovered!!!  Our box is missing!  If you look closely, you'll see the imprint of the box still in the carpet.
Truffle:  Where's my box???

Poor little Brulee is so used to sleeping in her box that she continues to sleep within the imprint of the box on the carpet in the hallway.
Brulee:  I want my box back!

Election Day

Today is election day in the United States for the humans.  We're supporting our mom today by encouraging everyone to vote for the person they feel can best represent them in local, state, and national government.  Our mom has voted since she registered at 18 years of age because she believes it is both a privilege and an honor to have the freedom to help select our leaders.  Our mom doesn't like all of the negativity, lying and hatred that has become part of politics, but she still values her freedom to vote and she exercises that right.  This is about as political as you'll ever see us get - VOTE!

We would say us kitties don't vote, but we vote all the time in the CB.  Thankfully, we have Mom Paula's fingers to do it for us and we don't have to stand in lines and use the machines in these voting booths!  MOL!
Brulee and Truffle at the voting booths

It is your right.  It is a privilege.
It is impawtent.
On 11.6.2012 put your paws to the ballot for your choice.

We interrupt this political PSA to report on breaking news!  Mom Paula became a great aunt last night to Zoey Parker Truesdale!  Isn't she adorable!?!

Brulee's 1st Gotcha Day

One year ago today, Brulee came to live with us.  Truffle had been an only kitty living with Mom Paula for two months when Brulee arrived.  Mom Terri hand delivered Brulee to our front door and helped introduce Brulee to Truffle.  Truffle hissed a little that first day and was determined to let Brulee know who was boss.  Brulee never showed any fear!  Truffle would "attack" her, then Mom Paula would pull Truffle away, but Brulee would jump right back up and go play with Truffle again.   It had only been 6 months since Mom Paula had helped Sweet Praline to the bridge and this was the first time Mom Paula had ever had more than one pet at a time and she was very nervous as she was also still a new kitty mom to Truffle (September 2011). Mom Paula slept on the couch in the living room the first couple of nights to make sure Truffle and Brulee were okay together.  It was just a couple of days before the two of them were playing and sleeping together.

A special thank you to Ann for the Gotcha Day graphics!

We thought we'd share a few pictures of Brulee on her Gotcha Day in 2011.
