Crunchies Just for Us!

We received a bag of dry cat food from chewy.com to review.  Imagine our surprise and pleasure to see this food is designed especially for us:  Persians.  The bag of food we received to review was Royal Canin Persian Formula.
Truffle checks out the bag of food

We've heard about Royal Canin because our vet lady recommended it to us.  Royal Canin has been involved with pet nutrition since 1967 and were the first to develop a diet exclusively for large-breed dogs and recently introduced a diet tailored specifically to the needs of extra-small breed dogs. What's really cool is that they make food for specific breeds of dogs and cats.  Benefits of Royal Canin Pet Food are

  • Royal Canin dog food and Royal Canin cat food diets are tailored to your pet's specific physiological needs
  • Packed with vitamins and amino acids to fortify the skin's barrier to allergens and improve life expectancy
  • Packaged under a protective controlled atmosphere to conserve all of the food's natural flavor and nutritional qualities.
The Royal Canin Persian Dry Cat Food is tailor-made to meet the needs of the Persian breed.  As we've said before, Brulee has problems eating food that is small and round because of her flat face and how she eats by picking up food with her tongue.  This food is almond-shaped and specfically designed for Persians to grasp with the underside of the tongue.
Note the almond-shaped kibble

The Royal Canin Persian Dry Formula contains nutrients and vitamins (D3 and B12 vitamins) that help support the skin's role as a barrier and maintain skin and coat health and is enriched with Omega 3 fatty acids and Omega 6 fatty acids. Persians have a long and dense coat which causes them to swallow a large quantity of fur during grooming.  The Persian formula contains fibers to help stimulate intestinal transit and naturally limit hairball formation. Best of all, we think it tastes so good, we'll even eat it out of Mom Paula's hand.

We tended to get a little aggressive trying to eat all of the kibble from Mom Paula's hand.

We're usually pretty neat eaters, but after Mom Paula put out some kibble for us to eat (we free-feed with our dry food because we don't overeat), she came into the kitchen the next morning to find this.
Just look at all the kibble on the floor!

We were so excited about the taste of our Royal Canin Persian food, that we spilled it all over the floor.  That didn't stop Truffle though.  She ate up all the kibble outside the bowl before moving on to what was inside the bowl.

We really like this food and Brulee has no problem eating it.  We know our vet will be happy since she recommended this particular brand of food.  The ingredients are:

Chicken meal, rice, chicken fat, corn gluten meal, brown rice, natural chicken flavor, wheat gluten, rice hulls, pea fiber, chicory pulp, anchovy oil (source of EPA/DHA), L-lysine, psyllium seed husk, sodium silico aluminate, soya oil, potassium chloride, dried egg product, DL-methionine, fructo-oligosaccharides, calcium carbonate, taurine, salt, dried brewers yeast extract (source of mannan-oligosaccharides), Vitamins [DL-alpha tocopherol (source of vitamin E), inositol, niacin, L-ascorbyl-2-polyphosphate (source of vitamin C), D-calcium pantothenate, biotin, pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6), riboflavin (vitamin B2), thiamine mononitrate (vitamin B1), vitamin A acetate, folic acid, vitamin B12 supplement, vitamin D3 supplement], choline chloride, borage oil, potassium citrate, sodium tripolyphosphate, Trace Minerals [zinc proteinate, zinc oxide, ferrous sulfate, manganese proteinate, copper proteinate, copper sulfate, manganous oxide, calcium iodate, sodium selenite], marigold extract (Tagetes erecta L.), rosemary extract, preserved with natural mixed tocopherols (source of vitamin E) and citric acid.

We want to thank chewy.com for sending us this bag of Royal Canin Persian dry food to test and review.  We checked the price on the chewy.com website and it's cheaper than the local pet supply store near us.  We'll definitely continue eating this food.

We received this food free from chewy.com for our review and were not compensated.

That Darn Blue Suitcase

Mom Paula had the blue suitcase out again and was putting a bunch of Gamecock clothes in it.  She said something about the pet sitter, DJ, checking on us for a few days.  What's this about???

Pee ess - we saw Mom Paula packing the ice pack and some pain meds in the blue suitcase for her shoulder.

Easy Like Sunday

This is how we take it easy when Mom Paula is in her home office on the computer.  We know, we know - she's supposed to be recuperating from her shoulder surgery, but she's still trying to work!!!

Uh, Mom Paula, that doesn't look like work; that looks like you're wasting time on Facebook!

Friday at the Movies - Playing with our Pink Wand Toy

We shared pictures of our pink snake wand toy we received from Katie and Waffles.
Brulee grabbing the end of the pink puffy balls

Truffle prefers grabbing the pink puffy balls near the top of the wand.

Now we want to show us playing with it in a short video.  Brulee reminds Mom Paula of Angel Sweet Praline because she just sits there and waits for the toy to come to her.  As usual, Truffle goes crazy.

Update on Mom Paula:  Mom Paula is experiencing some pain and swelling, especially since starting physical therapy.  There are some new and old bruises and Mom Paula cannot lift anything over 5 pounds and cannot let her left shoulder rise up using its own power.  She just has to be patient, use ice frequently, take her medication when needed, and follow through with the PT.  Thank you for your continued purrs and prayers.

Boxing Day

We had no clue there was a special day for boxes.  Brulee  just knows she loves to get in boxes.,

We want to wish all of our furriends and their beans a very Merry Christmas!

Secret Paws Christmas Eve

We've shared that Katie and Waffles were our Secret Paws earlier, but we haven't shown you everything they sent us yet.

The first thing we noticed when we opened the box was our pink snake wand toy and the wonderful Katie bag staring at us. We played with the wand before Mom Paula could even get it out of the bag.,

Truffle immediately claimed the Nylabone balls.  They are easy to carry around and fun to bat around.

Another toy we've never seen before that was a huge hit were the bright pink kitty chinese handcuffs (that's what they reminded Mom Paula of).  Both of us immediately took off with them.  This is the first toy Mom Paula has ever seen both Truffle and Brulee playing with at the same time and carrying around in their mouth.  Here are a couple of photos of this wonderful toy.

We also received some more tickle gherkins from Katie and Waffles.  We received our first ever last  year from Sparkle and we still take them to bed.  Mom Paula thought she'd put these aside for another day, but as usual, Truffle had other ideas.
Notice all the teeth marks where Truffle has already claimed these!

We have some wonderful treats and some new food to try out.  Glogirly made sure what we received was healthy for us, which Mom Paula greatly appreciates.  We've had these treats before and they are delicious, but we've never seen the seasoning treats (which will work wonderfully for Brulee when she gets finicky eating her stinky goodness, which happens a lot).  We can't wait to try the stinky goodness.

Avoderm Stinky Goodness and our card

Mom Paula received a few special items too!  She got a nice book "Cat Laughs" from Gary Patterson, the Amazecats Next Top Cats cards, two Katie/Waffle cards, a pen, and a magnet.

Thank you so much Katie, Waffle and Glogirly (Deb) for our special Secret Paws package this year.
Just look at all our stuff!

Truffle decided she's going to spend the night in the middle of everything.

Brulee is going to keep watch to make sure Sandy Paws doesn't take it back because
they've been a little naughty lately.  MOL!

Not Naughty

We're not being naughty!  We're just providing Mom Paula some entertainment while she recuperates.  Yeah, right.  That's what we're doing.  MOL

Photo Hunt - Mellow

You can't be more mellow than Truffle is when she's sleeping at Mom Paula's feet on her soft quilt.

What was not so mellow was Mom Paula last night when she heard a banging noise at her front door after 10:00 pm last night.  She thought it was her next door neighbor checking on her, but when she opened the door, Truffle came running out from between the doors.  What is so scary is that Mom Paula doesn't remember even opening the door and she has no idea how long Truffle was stuck between the front door and the storm door.  Truffle received lots of comforting hugs after this incident.  Here's a picture of the small space Truffle was trapped in for who knows how long . . .

Friday at the Movies - Secret Paw Package

We shared yesterday that our Secret Paws was Katie and Waffles.  As soon as Mom Paula helped us open the box, we jumped right in to see what was inside.  Truffle was quite excited because she identified some Katie floof on the bag and Truffle claimed the bag as her own.
Truffle checking out the Glogirly bag while Brulee eyes the pink wand toy!

Katie and Waffles (and probably Glogirly) had each of our packages wrapped in pretty holiday tissue paper (which is also a special gift).  We're not sure what you call our wand toy (help Katie and Waffles), but we LOVE it!  The video below is just a short little view of us checking out our box.

We'll share more of our Secret Paws package this weekend.  Special thanks to Katie and Waffles.

Thankful Thursday

We received our Secret Paws package this weekend and guess who it was from?  It was from Katie and Waffles from Glogirly!

We were so excited when Mom Paula opened the box that we climbed right inside and started playing with the snake wand toy.

Truffle then realized there was a bag filled with goodies and she started rummaging in the bag before Mom Paula had a chance to open it.

We'll show you more of our goodies over the next few days.  Mom Paula can't type too much because of her shoulder and we wouldn't want to take advantage of her.  MOL

Pee ess - Don't forget to post about your Secret Paws on the Secret Paws 2013 blog and/or on your own blog.  We've sent invitations to everyone who is participating to be an author on the Secret Paws 2013 blog and there are 10 who haven't responded.  Please check your emails for the invitation.

Truffle Tuesday

Truffle thinks Mom Paula's left hand smells funny with all of those hospital smells on it.

Mom Paula is doing okay and she's started the physical therapy.  She can't pick up either one of us for a few weeks though.

Enjoying the Snow

We're two years old and we've never seen the cold white stuff.  However, Flat Truffle and Flat Brulee were able to experience the snow in Maryland last week.

Friday at the Movies - Baby Truffle

Mom Paula is having her shoulder surgery today at 12:15 pm, so we thought we'd publish a flashback video of Baby Truffle playing with her first interactive toy.

We're also featured at Zoolatry today on the Advent Calendar along with some of our "flat" furriends.

We love our fancy stockings that Ann made for us, but we think we better climb out so someone can fill them with treats!

We're going to pre-post our blogs for the next several days because of Mom Paula's shoulder surgery. We hope to update you once she's out of surgery but we won't be communicating too much the next few days.

Thankful Thursday

We're thankful Mom Paula is home!
Truffle and Mom Paula

We also wanted to say a special thank you to all of the humans who came out in the nasty weather to enjoy a long lunch with Mom Paula while she was in DC/Maryland the last few days.  A special thank you to Mom Teri for our sock toy (Truffle has already taken it somewhere) and the the Maryland Mom Paula for our homemade treats (we LOVE them!)

The Flat Cats even had their own table to drink their niptinis and to get to know each other.
