Tax Thursday

It's that time of the year when Mom Paula has more papers spread out than usual all over the desk, floor, printer, etc.  It's tax season!  Mom Paula worked on her taxes for several hours on Wednesday night and had to stop because she hasn't received some of the forms/paperwork she needs!  Truffle decided it was time to show Mom Paula what to do with all of that paperwork . . .
This is how to relax . . .  Just ignore all these papers and that computer screen
and look at me . . . You are getting sleepy . . .  Are you relaxed yet?

Helping Out

Mom Paula says she has a lot of work to do this week, both at the office and at home.  We thought we'd help her out a little bit!

Easy Like Sunday

Mom Paula's had a rough week emotionally this past week, so we're going to do our best to help her have an easy Sunday.

Photo Hunt - Knitted

We love our knitted Peggy Blankies!  Mom ML had this pink one made for us from Peggy from Peggy's Place when we were kittens and sent it to us.  The garnet colored knitted blankie was sent to Sweet Praline from Peggy, so it's pretty special, too.  Mom Paula keeps them on the bed and we sleep on them all the time.

Brulee usually grabs the knitted pink Peggy blankie, but had to settle for the garnet blankie when Truffle decided she wanted it.  However, as soon as Truffle moved, Brulee grabbed the pink blankie back and settled right in.

We haven't heard from Peggy's Place lately, so we hope everything is okay.  She always knitted the most beautiful blankies for us kitties and you can see them all over the CB.

Pee ess - if these aren't "knitted"  (we don't know all of the correct terms), we still love them!

Friday at the Movies: Doing the Bunny Kick

Truffle loves her toys!  She'll carry them all over the house and even bring them to bed at night.  Many mornings, Mom Paula will wake up and there are 1-3 toys on the bed.  The pink Kong toy that Truffle is bunny kicking in this video was sent to us from Jacqueline's Cat House when we were babies.  She actually sent two to us, but we couldn't (or won't) tell you where the second one is.  These pink Kong toys are still almost as big as we are!

The weatherman is calling for a possibility of some of that frozen precipitation today.  Mom Paula is schedule to travel today, but should be back this afternoon.  We aren't used to frozen rain, sleet, and snow in the South, so people drive crazy around here.  We're hoping the weatherman is wrong, but it sure is cold for us!

Thankful Thursday

Today we want to thank Mog from Mind of Mog, who stepped up to keep the CB going when Mom ML and KC moved to Maryland this past fall.  We know it's a lot of hard work to keep something like this going and we want to let her know how much her time, effort, and expertise are appreciated.  Thank you, Mog!
Truffle gives Mog "paws up" for all of her hard work.

Mom ML contacted Mog yesterday and said that KC was really sick with an antibiotic resistant URI.  We're so sorry to hear about this and we're sending special purrs to KC to get well quickly.
Please feel free to grab this graphic of KC for your blogs.

Some exciting news for the CB is that Mo from Purrchance to Dream will be taking over the CB.  Mo has been around the CB for as long as Mom Paula can remember.  A special event on the CB recognizing Mo was "Not the Mama Day" on  August 25, 2008.  This was right after Mom Paula started blogging with Sweet Praline.  We know lots of kitties and their humans don't like change, but we're looking forward to new and exciting things for the CB.  We're thankful Mo volunteered to do this huge job and hope everyone will continue to be a part of this special group.  Thank you, Mo.
This was the graphic on the CB for Mo on "Not the Mama" Day.

And we can't say it enough - we're so thankful for the CB and everyone in it!  Love you!
Now if we can just get Mom Paula to help us visit our furriends more often . . .

Pee ess - We're thankful to Mom Paula for designing our new blog header.  She's still playing around with Photoshop Elements, but we think she did a pretty good job.  We have a very special header coming up that was designed by Ann and we can't wait to show it to you in a few weeks.

Truffle Tuesday

Brulee loves it when Mom Paula pulls out the clothes basket because it means she can enjoy warm, fresh clothes.  Truffle enjoys the clothes basket because she can practice for the next Balance Beam Competition in four years.
 Time for the mount!

 That wasn't so hard!

Ooooo!  What are those plastic things in the bottom?

Brulee likes to watch the ceiling fan blades go round and round above her.  Don't you love her little upside down smile?

Friday at the Movies: Morning Bath Time

We like to take our morning bath while waking up on our Peggy Blankies on the bed.  It takes a long time to get our floof in shape.

Brulee's Trip to the Vet

Yesterday started out like any other day.  Mom Paula woke up and grabbed picked me up (Brulee) from my pink Peggy Blankie and started combing through my floof.  I put up with it until she got to my belly and then I let her know I'd had enough.  I heard Mom Paula talking on the telephone (awfully early for that) and the next thing I know, she nabs me again and wraps me up in a towel like a papoose!  She then pries open my mouth and squeezes this nasty tasting liquid in my mouth (Benadryl).  I immediately clamp down my jaws and start foaming at the mouth.  Mom Paula was supposed to get 2.5 ml in me, but she only managed 1.25 ml.  I also caused her to spill some on my freshly groomed floof.

Mom Paula: The vet recommended I pretreat Brulee with Benadryl because she's had some reactions to some of her shots and we're playing it safe.

Mom Paula then shoved placed me in the PTU and slammed shut the door.  You would know that my big sister, Truffle, jumped right on top and taunted me.
You fell for it again, Brulee!

Mom Paula then opened the front door to the house and took me with her.  I'm never allowed beyond the front door, so I knew something was up.  She then put me in this metal object and we took off.
I promise I didn't do it!  I don't deserve to be behind bars!

We arrived at Cherokee Trail Veterinary Clinic and went inside.  Two different vet assistants/technicians escorted me back to a room.  As soon as Mom Paula opened my cage door  - out I came to oohs and aahs from the ladies.  I was weighed and am approximately 7.2 pounds.  One of those young ladies stuck a thermometer where I dare not mention.  She started to take it out and I moved and it was stuck there forever (Mom Paula:  it was only a few seconds) and would you believe they laughed at me?  They then had to clean up my backside.  The assistants kept petting me and cooing over me and saying how beautiful I was.  Mom Paula asked them if they'd not seen many Persians and their comment was, "yes, but none are groomed so well."  Mom Paula beamed with pride as she covered her recent scratches!  (Mom Paula:  there were no scratches to hide).  The assistants left and Mom Paula and I were left in the room for several minutes.  I began to explore the cold, silver, metal table I was left on and Mom Paula took the opportunity to take some pictures in a room with good light.  Here are a couple of my "glamour" shots.

Dr. Keisler came in and the first thing she said was, "hello beautiful!" and began petting me and admiring my beauty.  She said the minimum amount of Benadryl I had to have for my weight was 1 ml, so I didn't have to any more of that yucky stuff.  She stuck me with the needle and I let out a little meow.  At least I didn't hiss like Sweet Praline!  She gave me a clean bill of health and sent us on our way.  I came home and Truffle greeted us.  The first thing Truffle did when Mom Paula released me was to begin cleaning my head.  I  love my sister.

Note from Mom Paula:  So far Brulee hasn't had any reaction to the FVRCP/Chlamydia vaccination.  Dr. Keisler explained that she (and Truffle) will need one more of these shots next year and then they'll only need them every three years.  The rabies shot is required in the state of South Carolina.  I asked her about the "every 3 year" shot and she said the state will accept those but it isn't adjuvant-free, so they don't use them.  The adjuvant-free rabies vaccine is only good for one year, so I guess they'll continue to get those every year.

Pee ess - Mom Paula thinks I put a hex on her car because she had to have her rear brakes and rotors replaced today ($340) and there is something wrong with the front "bushings" which have damaged her recent front brake job and is going to cost $500!
I didn't do it!

Back to the Vet

Brulee is scheduled to go back to the vet this morning to get her second shot.  Mom Paula must pretreat her with Benadryl before going because Brulee has had reactions to the shots in the past.  Last year, the vet gave both the rabies and vaccination in the same shot and Brulee didn't do so well. This year, the vet is separating the shots.  Brulee received her rabies shot in December and is getting her annual FVRCP vaccination today.
What do you mean I have to go back to the vet???

Truffle Tuesday

We had a beautiful weekend.  The high temperature was 80 degrees on Saturday  which broke a record for January 12 in South Carolina.  Truffle enjoyed hanging out in her cat tree taking in all the warm sunshine.

Monday Surprise

You've already seen the toys and socks we leave in the hallway for Mom Paula, but each evening, we bring one of our toys to bed to sleep with us.  Mom Paula woke up this weekend and all of these toys were on her bed.  Ladycats must have something to play with during the evening when Mom is asleep.  Funny thing is all of these have disappeared during the day.

Have a great week!

Photo Hunt - Celebrate

Let's celebrate the weekend and have a good time!  Can you hear the music???

We like to celebrate our Gamecocks, too!  They had their first back-to-back 11 win season this year in history.  They also finished #7 and #8 in the final ratings and #10 in the BCS.  Coach Steve Spurrier is the all time winningest coach at South Carolina.  They won the Outback Bowl against Michigan on January 1, 2013.  Mom Paula likes to celebrate the Gamecocks, too!

Friday at the Movies: Sleepyhead Brulee

We're different from most of our furriends on the CB.  We like to sleep in first thing in the morning.  Mom Paula is usually waking us up and she usually finds this is the best time to try and groom us.  Truffle is usually the smart one and goes under the bed when she senses Mom Paula is stirring, but Brulee tends to be unaware and stays sleeping on the bed until Mom Paula grabs her.

Yesterday morning, Mom Paula caught Brulee still drowsy and she dares share this little video of Brulee still half asleep with her "bed head" and "fur horns".

Just in case you don't think Truffle sleeps in, here is the photo evidence.

Happy Friday everyone!

We're thankful for scritches from Mom Paula.  She gives the best chin, neck, and head scritches.  You should hear us purr!

Beauty Bath

It's finally happened after two weeks at home (not counting the Outback Bowl).  It's time for Mom Paula to go back to work.  She says each time she takes a vacation lately, it's getting harder and harder to go back to work.  She's scheduled for early retirement in 2017.   Even though we'll miss her today, we're taking our time with a beauty bath to get ready for the week.  Watch out all of you mancats out there!
This is the way we wash our paws . . .

Quick!  Turn your heads!  It's time to wash our floofy privates!

Easy Like Sunday

We're going to take advantage of Mom Paula's last day of vacation and take it easy with her on the couch today.  We hope all of you have a restful day today.

Photo Hunt: Add

Today's Photo Hunt theme is "add".  Mom Paula used to be a math teacher and college professor and she used all of these calculators to do more than "add."  She remembers one time traveling with the middle school chorus she used to accompany and the chorus teacher, Robbin, asked her for a calculator.  Mom Paula pulled out the graphing calculator (the TI-81) and the chorus teacher looked at it and said, "Give me something with an equals sign."  Mom Paula and Robbin are friends to this day (they traveled to the Outback Bowl together) and they still laugh about the calculator and she wanting something to just "add" with.

We don't care what the calculators do as long as Mom Paula can't add up the number of times she's given us a treat each day.
