We know all the humans out there look forward to eating all of the chocolate that's left over (or the special candy bars they put aside), but we kitties can't eat chocolate. Instead, we love to eat delicious stinky goodness. Our friends at chewy.com recently contacted us about try a new variety of Merrick: Purrfect Bistro Grain Free canned food. We were familiar with Merrick's canned food because that's one of the only brands of canned food Angel Sweet Praline would eat the last year before she left for the bridge. Her favorite flavor was the Turducken. Once we became adult kitties, Mom Paula let us try some of the Merrrick Turducken and we loved it.
There are 16 different flavors of the Merrick Purrfect Bistro Grain free canned foods. We tend to stay away from anything with fish in it because of Truffle's sensitive tummy and we were very impressed to see 12 different varieties of chicken, turkey, duck, or beef! Chewy.com graciously sent us two different varieties to try: the Chicken Pate and the Beef Wellington.
Brulee checking out the chicken pate
Both of us immediately dug into the chicken pate and cleaned our plates. This food was very easy for Brulee to eat because she tends to eat with her tongue (a Persian thing). Of course Truffle took big bites of her chicken pate.
Brulee "licking" her chicken pate
We also tried the Beef Wellington and really liked the flavor. Brulee licked all of the gravy and had to be coaxed to eat the slices with crumbs of her freeze-dried treats on top. Mom Paula has to do that with any food that isn't pate or shredded for Brulee because of the way she eats. Truffle ate every bite and moved over to Brulee's bowl to finish the left overs.
We're very impressed to find out the Merrick Purrfect Bistro is grain-free and healthy for us. According to the description on chewy.com's website:
Purrfect Bistro - It's what cats lick their whiskers for! Every Purrfect Bistro recipe starts with 70% healthy proteins & fats and features deboned meat as the number one ingredient. They are 100% grain free and high in Omega 6's & 3's. This royally divine dish is lovingly prepared in Merrick's kitchen with chunks of sliced beef, chicken, peas and cranberries — your cat will come running and ready to clean their dish. Not all brands make their own food but Merrick puts cooking and quality under one roof. Their five-star kitchen and manufacturing facilities uphold the strict guidelines well defined by the FDA. All Merrick formulas source farm fresh ingredients locally to ensure the highest quality.
Merrick takes a simplistic yet innovative approach during recipe creations. Merrick uses real whole foods that are locally sourced and processed as little as possible in order to retain the natural benefits. Merrick states that they hold true to their five star promises to ensure their food is of the highest standard.
We give Merrick Purrfect Bistro Grain-free canned food 4 paws up. We were already a fan of the Merrick brand, but hadn't had the opportunity to try the different flavors. We'll definitely continue to try different flavors and eat the Merrick food.
We were not paid for this review and chewy.com sent us cans of the Merrick food free. We also want to mention that chewy.com carries a large variety of food and treats for kitties and woofies at very reasonable prices. The delivery time once an order is placed is extremely quick and we love the boxes! Chewy.com offers free 1-2 days shipping for orders of $49+ and provides the option of auto-shipping.
Happy Halloween, you cuties!
ReplyDeleteWe think we might like that Turducken too. Merrick sounds like a brand our Mommy will try for us. Thanks for the review.
Happy Halloween and it looks like you guys got some great treats!
ReplyDeleteI think the Merrick food looks WAY taster than any dumb chocolate!
ReplyDeleteWe're with Sparkle -- we would rather get Merrick for trick-or-treat than we would chocolate.
ReplyDeleteMum wishes we liked grain free food - she bought some a couple of weeks ago and the first day we nommed it all up and then we ate less and less of it.
ReplyDeleteMum is taking it to a friend tomorrow as she fosters kittens and cats - as well as having a few of her own - we hope they will like it.
Luv Hannay and Lucy xx xx

ReplyDeleteWe get our stinky goodness from chewy.com too. And Skeeter and LC loved the fishy and multiflavor foods from Merrick too. We dont. Really confoosed TBT fer a while. We are strictly one-flavor-at-a-time kittys an it HAS to be poultry.
ReplyDeleteBut vive la diference...
Sounds yummy! Happy Halloween! =)
ReplyDeleteWhat an excellent Halloween treat! And Happy Halloween!
ReplyDeleteMom says that she is not familiar with this brand, but glad you two liked it. We will only eat pate and some of us don't even care that much about any brand or flavor of stinky goodness. Maybe we are like our mom and just don't like how stinky it is. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
