Greenies for Floofy Kitties

We were very excited to receive an offer from chewy.com to review Feline Greenies Smartbites Hairball Control treats this month, especially since some kitty in this house left a hairball in Mom Paula's shoe last week.  We decided not to post of picture of her shoe today, but instead wanted to share our discovery of a delicious new treat for us.
Truffle with Greenies treats

The Greenies brand isn't new to us, but we haven't seen the hairball control treats and were very interested in trying them.  Just as soon as Mom Paula opened the bag, both of us stuck our noses into the bag.
Brulee and Truffle taking a whiff of the delicious aroma

Would believe these treats were actually green in color and actually tasted delicious!  Who knew that something green that was good for you could taste great too!
Delicious green treats

The Greenies Feline SmartBites Hairball Control Cat Treats  are chicken flavored, which is our favorite.  They are in a 2.1 oz. bag and are currently on sale for 50% off at chewy.com.  We know most kitties tend to get hairballs, but not all of us can get rid of them the easy way.  Our sister-before-us had problems with blockages because of hairballs and sure could have used these treats. Truffle also has a problem with hairballs, so we're really glad she likes these treats and that they will help her get rid of all of our floofy fur.  The Greenies Feline SmartBites Hairball Control Cat Treats are rich in fiber, which promotes healthy digestion.

The ingredients of the SmartBites Hairball Control treats are:

Active Ingredient: Each treat contains 25 mg of Petrolatum

Other Ingredients: Chicken Meal, Brewers Rice, Whole Wheat, Animal Plasma, Animal Fat (preserved with mixed Tocopherols), Wheat Flour, Natural Flavor, Cellulose Fiber, Brewers Dried Yeast, Dried Plain Beet Pulp, Minerals (Dicalcium Phosphate, Potassium Chloride, Salt, Calcium Carbonate, Zinc Sulfate, Copper Sulfate, Manganese Sulfate, Potassium Iodide), Vitamins (dl-Alpha Tocopherol Acetate [source of Vitamin E], Vitamin A Supplement, Niacin Supplement, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Riboflavin Supplement [Vitamin B2], Thiamine Mononitrate [Vitamin B1], d-Calcium Pantothenate [Vitamin B5], Vitamin D3 Supplement, Biotin, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride [Vitamin B6], Folic Acid), Sodium Copper Chlorophyllin, Choline Chloride, Taurine, DL-Methionine, Preserved with mixed Tocopherol

Brulee and Truffle eating the treats

We loved these treats and give them four paws up.  Would you believe that according to the instructions we can have almost 18 treats at one time, per day?!?  Mom Paula lets us eat them out of her hand and even puts them on the table for us to devour.  We do plan on getting more of these in the future since Mom Paula doesn't want to find anymore hairballs in her shoes.
Truffle waiting for Mom Paula to open the bag (or take off with it when Mom Paula isn't looking)

We received these treats free from chewy.com and were not compensated for our review.  The opinions expressed here are our own.

Mom Paula has been taking it easy with our woofie cousin Bandit this weekend while grandma Faye and grandpa Paul are out of town.  We're keeping our her  bed warm, waiting for her to get home today.

Photo Hunt: Bird

All of us kitties know about bird TV.  We like to sit in the windows in the bedroom and watch through the door in the living room to watch for evil squirrels and birds.

Every once in a while a bird will build a nest in our Gamecock birdhouse and little baby birdies are born.  Those momma and poppa birds tend to dive-bomb Mom Paula when she walks out the front door.

Friday at the Movies: Flashback Friday

We're flashing back to November 2011 when we were little kittens for our Friday at the Movies today.  Mom Paula had her first PT on her wrist/thumb yesterday and she's pretty sore.  We hope you have a wonderful weekend and enjoy Brulee's acrobatics with daBird.

We're just hanging around the computer waiting for Mom Paula to help us visit again.

Wordless Wednesday (almost)

Update on Mom Paula:  The good news is that it appears there is no fractured wrist.  The bad news is that she has a severe sprain and possibly bruised bone and tendons.  She starts additional physical therapy on her hand (in addition to the continued therapy on her shoulder), takes a prescription anti-inflammatory everyday for a month, and works her way out of the brace.  She sees the doctor again in a month.

Truffle Tuesday

Well furriends ...  I figured out how to get out of the human litterbox room thanks to Uncle  Bhu, but ended up trapped in this fancy PTU that we won from Cody (Cat Chat with Caren and Cody) last year.  I love getting into this fancy carrier when it was on the floor in my house, but this time Mom Paula zipped me in and carried me out to a moving metal monster and took me to the vet!
You won't trick me into getting in this thing again!

Don't worry, everything is okay.  I was just way past due for my annual check-up because of Mom Paula's health issues and green papers, but the vet sent us a 50% off of the vet fee coupon and we had to use it by the end of the month.  I fussed sang all the way to the vet and even figured out how to get out of the PTU in the car by pushing my head against the velcro closure at the end of the zipper.  You should have seen Mom Paula trying to grab me while driving.  She held me in her arms since we were almost at the vet and I was just shaking all over.  Don't worry, Mom Paula knows this isn't safe, but we were about two blocks away when I got out.
I want out!!!

We got to the vet and all of the technicians and assistants were oohing and aahing, telling me how pretty I was. When the Deedee took us in the back, we went to a totally different room and Mom Paula asked if there was a Feliway diffuser in the room.  There wasn't, but Deedee quickly brought one back in.  I weighed 7.06 pounds (up 1.31 pounds from October 2012).  I was a very good ladycat when she stuck the thermometer up my back end.  I didn't even hiss.  We'd been waiting for quite a while for Dr. Keisler when DeeDee came in and said the doctor was running late because of a problem with another patient and would we be willing to see Dr. Strom.  Mom Paula was a little hesitant because we hadn't seen him and said he'd have to come in and get Truffle's approval first. Dr. Strom was very good with me, but he sure was young!
Ashley and Dr. Strom

Dr. Strom said everything looked great.  Unfortunately, I did need two shots:  rabies (required by law in SC) and the FVRCP/Chlamydia booster (good for 3 years).  Dr. Strom was very gentle when examining me and even picked me up to cuddle a little bit.  He said my insides sounded good, my teeth and ears looked good, my weight was good, and that I had a beautiful face!  I wasn't as relaxed as Brulee last year, but that Feliway diffuser really does work to relax a kitty.  Dr. Strom said they don't see too many purebreeds in their office.  He wasn't too bad for a vet!  MOL!

Mom Paula put me back in my fancy PTU and zipped it up securely and really pinched the Velcro together. Hopefully, this is the last time for at least another year before I  have to travel in it again. Our coupon saved us $26.25.  Mom Paula keeps hoping we'll get one for Brulee to use.
Let's go home!

Here's a short little video of me fussing singing in the car on the way to the vet.  You can see my head pushing up against the edge and hear the Velcro starting to move.

Pee ess - Mom Paula goes back to the human vet this morning to check out her wrist.  He will probably do another x-ray.  We hope he finds something definitive today and can figure out how to treat it.

Kong Review

We were contacted by Abby from Kong last month to see if we'd like to review some items from their product line.  Of course we said yes, but then Mom Paula fell on the ice and her arm went back in the sling for two weeks and now she's in a brace for a possible fracture.  However, we don't want to disappoint the people from Kong, so we're helping Mom Paula review the products we received.

Just as soon as we were able to look into the box, we were very excited to see what Kong had sent us.

We received the Kong Naturals Cat Scratcher, the Kong Naturals Premium Cat Nip, and the Kong Soft Moist Duck Cat Treats.

You know how much we love the treats, especially the feather kind!  We usually eat chicken and turkey, but we immediately took to the duck!  These treats are all natural and have no wheat, soy, corn, or animal by-products.  There is added cranberries for urinary tract support and taurine for an essential dietary requirement for feline health. The ingredients are Duck, Chicken, Vegetable Glycerin, Cultured Dextrose, Taurine, Cranberries, Blueberries, Mixed Tocopherols (a Natural Preservative).

We first took a big sniff of the treats in the bag!
 Brulee checking out the treats.

 Truffle taking a big whiff!

Mom Paula then let us try the treats!  Brulee found them easy to grab from Mom Paula's hand with her small mouth and she loved them (notice this was before the brace).
 Brulee easily eating the treat!

And of course, Truffle reached up to grab a treat!
Yum! Yum!

Mom Paula then sprinkled some of the catnip on the scratcher.  The Kong Naturals Premium Catnip is grown in North America and is harvested at the peak of its flavor, color, and fragrance and is then field-dried.  Kong's premium leaf and flower cut gives minimal stems and seeds and ,more of the essential oils that cause a reaction in cats.

We sniffed the Kong scratcher at first, but basically ignored it.  Mom Paula even wrote to Abby at Kong asking if we should write about this or just write about the treats.  She told us to write about the treats and maybe we'd try the scratcher later.  A few days later Mom Paula heard us scratching in the hallway and thought it was Brulee scratching at the carpet again.  Would you believe it was us scratching on the scratcher?  Mom Paula keeps trying to catch us scratching on the scratcher, but she's been unsuccessful.   However, she did capture Brulee on the scratcher claiming it as her own piece of furniture.  We scratch on the scratcher every day now, but still won't let Mom Paula catch us doing it with the camera.

All in all, we give the Kong products "four paws up".  We love the treats and the all natural, environmentally safe scratcher is good for scratching and Mom Paula likes it because we don't scratch the carpet.

We received these products from Kong free to review and were not compensated for our opinion.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Brulee is going green today for St. Patrick's Day with a little limerick.

Truffle is guarding the pot of gold!

Pee ess:  Mom Paula saw the doctor last week about her wrist again and they're still not sure if it's fractured or not.  She is still wearing the brace (for at least 3-4 more weeks) and will probably have more x-rays within the week.  She's not supposed to be using it, so we're tardy on visiting and commenting on blogs.  We hope to be back soon!

Friday at the Movies: The New Sheet Shuffle

Last week you saw us playing on the naked mattress.  Mom Paula wasn't supposed to do anything using her left hand because of her fractured wrist, but she was tired of sleeping on the couch and wanted to put her new sheets that her sister gave her for Christmas on the bed.  So, she did (her wrist is only hurting slightly more).

Brulee on the freshly made bed.

Brulee just loves the new sheets!  Mom Paula posted this video on FB this week, but wanted to let those of you who aren't on FB see it for Friday at the Movies.  Mo (Purchance to Dream) called Brulee's little dance the New Sheet Shuffle, so we thought we'd use the name for the name of the movie today.

Friday at the Movies

It's bed changing time again and that means one thing!  Smacky paws time!

We love to play on the naked mattress, but it always leads to a smack down.  Mom Paula usually spoils our fun by asking us to stop.
