Kitty Yums

We received some tasty new treats from Chewy.com to sample this month - Blue Buffalo Kitty Yums.
Truffle already loves her new treats

We were already familiar with the Blue Buffalo brand because it was one of the few brands of cat food that Angel Sweet Praline would eat when she was so sick with cancer.  Kitty Yums are natural soft-moist treats and come in four flavors:  savory salmon, tempting tuna, tasty chicken, and tender turkey.  We don't need to tell you how tasty they were because before Mom Paula could even open the bag, Truffle bit into it. (What else is new?!?)
Truffle biting into the bag

Blue Buffalo products are as well know for what they don't contain as what they do.  The "True Blue" Promise is that they only use the finest natural ingredients.  They always start with real turkey and contain no chicken/poultry by-product meals; no corn, wheat or soy; and no artificial preservatives, colors or flavors. Each morsel is only 2 calories each which is great for our ladycat figures and contains Rosemary which is great for freshening breath.
Brulee gives the Blue Kitty Yums her paw of approval.

Everyone knows Truffle likes treats, but the real test is how Brulee reacts and if she can eat them. Well, the photo above is proof that Brulee approves.  They are a natural shape and big enough for Brulee to eat them from Mom Paula's fingertips and she is able to eat them without them dropping out of her mouth like some of the smaller treats do.
Truffle eats them right from Mom Paula's hand

Truffle likes the Blue Kitty Yum treats so much that she grabs them from Mom Paula's hand before she can even get one in her fingers (Truffle almost ate her fingers.  MOL!).  The ingredients of the chicken flavored treats are:

Chicken, Whole Ground Brown Rice, Oatmeal, Maple Syrup, Vegetable Glycerine, Whole Ground Potato, Gelatin, Natural Flavor, Salt, Fish Oil, Brewer’s Yeast, Phosphoric Acid, Sorbic Acid, Ascorbic Acid, Taurine, Citric Acid, Mixed Tocopherols (source of Vitamin E), Rosemary

Truffle is rushing out to get some more treats!

These treats were delicious and we definitely recommend them. They are currently on sale at chewy.com, so you can buy bunches of bags to last a week (just kidding).  We received these treats from Chewy.com at no charge for our review.  Our opinions are always our own.

Pee ess - we love to shop at chewy.com.  They have the largest variety of healthy treats and food for us kitties and shipping is amazingly quick!  We're going to search for Mom Paula's credit card right now!

Say No to Mondays

We know this photo is a little grainy and dark, but Brulee's face shows how all of us feel (including Mom Paula) about Mondays.

Photo Hunt - Morning

We think we'll hang out with Mom Paula and her friends this morning at ESPN's Game Day!

Alert kitties will notice this is an older photo of Mom Paula because of her longer hair.  This photo was taken two years ago when ESPN's Game Day came to Columbia, SC for the South Carolina vs. Georgia game.  They're here again this morning for the game against the Missouri Tigers.  Mom Paula says she's not so sure she's going to get up so early this morning to go downtown since the game isn't until 7:00 pm tonight.

We'll see you tomorrow morning...

Friday at the Movies: New Wand Toy

Mom Paula recently bought us a new wand toy:  The Bird Catcher Mini.  It was different because it didn't have a feather like most of our toys.  This particular attachment was called a "Cat Charmer" and it had a bell on it.  When she pulled it out, it was like the Pied Piper going down the hallway.  We followed it all around.  Truffle wasn't as interested, but Brulee didn't want to stop playing with it.  Mom Paula is amazed at some of the acrobatics Brulee can do, considering her little cobby body.

A Ladycat's Work is Never Complete

Brulee thinks that all she ever does is keep her floof clean and pretty!  A ladycat's work, especially a long haired, silver ladycat, is never done!

We also want to take a moment to remember Sweet Praline at the bridge today as she celebrates her 19th birthday.  We know she's having a blast with all of her furriends, especially Sniffie and GJ.  We miss our little Diva of the CB!

Towering Truffle

Truffle managed to climb to the top of our new tower, but she's not so sure she likes it up there.

Monday Morning Blues

It's that time of the week again when Mom Paula heads back to her day hunting job.  We think we'll stick around on our bed and wait for her to come home tonight.

Truffle New Couch

Truffle is really happy with her new couch!  There's enough room for her furriends to join her.  We're slowly getting used to the new stuff in our living room.  There are a few more adjustments to make before it's completed, but we think it really looks nice.

Of course, little Miss Brulee thinks the couch is hers, too!  She's getting a little possessive about the furniture lately.  MOL!

What Happened Next

Yesterday, you saw Truffle eyeing Brulee in the top of the tree and wondered what happened next.  As you guessed, Truffle tried to sneak up to the top of the tree and Brulee immediately turned around and dared her.  An episode of smacky paws began ...
Brulee:  How dare you invade my private tower!

That is, until Mom Paula fussed at us!  She's no fun!
What, Mom!?!  We were just having fun!

Friday at the Movies: Where's the Furniture

Truffle and Brulee are a little confused about the empty living room the past two weeks.  All they knew was that they were locked in the bedroom for more than a half day and when they came out, everything was gone!

This lasted about 2 1/2 weeks until one day, they found themselves locked up again for more than 1/2 day.  When they came out this time, imagine their surprise with their new furniture!  This piece is their favorite spot; right at Mom Paula's feet.

Week of Changes - Cat Tree Fiasco

We thought we were going to be able to share the excitement of a new cat tree today, but there were problems and Mom Paula is going to take it back.  Here's the story...
Truffle attempting to climb the "new" tree

Mom Paula went to a couple of pet supply stores to find us a new tree.  Our old tree is still hanging on, but the beds are small and we wanted something a little bigger to hang out on.  She went to one store and there were two trees there, but there were no prices and no one would ever come on that aisle to assist, so she left the store.  She then went to PetSmart and found several trees and narrowed it down to three.  However, she encountered the same problem - no one ever came to the cat section to help, so she started to leave a store.  As she was walking out, someone asked her if she found what she needed and Mom Paula replied, "yes, but no one ever came back to the cat section to help me with a tree."  Can you tell she was a little perturbed???
Brulee makes it to the second level while Truffle explores the bottom bed

Mom Paula finally decided to get the more expensive model because it appeared sturdier and the levels were larger for us.  The funny part was trying to get the tree in the back seat of the Maxima, but they were able to do so.  As soon as Mom Paula lugged it into the house, we were checking it out. It was easy to get on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd levels.  It fit beautifully in our newly arranged living room and we thought it was purrfect.  That is, until Brulee attempted to get into the top level.

Keep in mind that Brulee has that traditional Persian cobby body with short legs.  You should have seen her scrambling getting to that top level.  At first, she seemed very pleased with herself, looking around and playing with the valance.  The problem began when she was ready to get down. She just couldn't judge the shelf below and it didn't jut out enough for her to land on it from the top.  She started meowing and pitifully looked down at the ground.  Mom Paula tempted her by grabbing the treat jar, which resulted in Brulee leaping from the top to the ground.
Brulee:  How do I get down???

Luckily, she landed okay, but it scared Mom Paula.  Next, Truffle tried to get to the top perch and also had a little difficulty getting up there, but made it.  She had the exact same reaction as Brulee and when she attempted getting down, she jumped from the top to the ground almost hitting the second from top level.  This scared Mom Paula because she is afraid we're going to hurt ourselves when she's not here and the table beside the tree is going to be moved to a different location.  She tried to turn the top level, but it didn't move and she didn't want to break it.  She finally decided to lay the tree on its side and will return it tomorrow.
Truffle:  It was much easier getting up than down

We are so disappointed because we really liked this tree.  Mom Paula said she is going to ask the people at PetSmart if they can try and rotate the top a little bit.   The PetSmart people told her on the phone that they are delivered already put together, so they doubt it can be turned.  Mom Paula isn't going to give up, so we'll wait and see if we can still get some new furniture (especially since Mom Paula got some).
Goodbye cat tree.  It was nice while it lasted.

Mom Paula did seek input from her human friends on the CWB on Facebook and many have given great suggestions.  She still isn't sure if she is going to take it back or not.  She may chance turning the top level and if it breaks, try to reattach it with a strong bolt.  Wish us luck.

Week of Changes

We've had a lot of changes in our household the past two weeks and many of you are very curious. Of course your curious, we're cats!!!  Anyway, we thought we'd take this week to share what's been happening around our house, so stay tuned...

Uncle Bill and Mom Paula in 2012

It all started two weeks ago when Mom Paula was pleasantly surprised to receive a small inheritance from her Uncle Bill, who passed away in October 2013 at 89 years old.  This was truly a blessing from God because we've really been struggling financially for the past 5 years because of all of Mom Paula's illnesses and surgeries.  We haven't shared our struggles because Mom Paula is very private about these things and tries to keep our blog positive and happy.  Thankfully, we've been able to pay off almost all of our bills except for the mortgage, the car payment, and Mom Paula's student loan. There was a little set aside to get a few things for the house and to take care of us.
Brulee in car

The first expenditure was to get Brulee to the vet for her very late annual checkup.  She was due for this checkup in January, but we just couldn't afford the visit.  Brulee went to the vet on August 27 and had a great checkup.  On the way to the vet, she did not sing the song of our kitties.  Instead, she was calm, cool, and collected the entire trip.  She didn't even begin singing when several woofies in the waiting room started barking and whining.  (Truffle:  I think Brulee is an alien).
Brulee in waiting room

The vet technician took Brulee back to an examination room, which has a Feliway diffuser plugged in.  Mom Paula opened the PTU door and Brulee just walked right out (Mom Paula had to turn the carrier upside down with Truffle) and made herself home exploring the room.  Brulee volunteered to get on the scale to be weighed and weighs 8.3 pounds.  She'd gained around 1.5 pounds since her last visit in January 2013, when she was a little over a year old.  The vet said Brulee's weight was just right and that she wasn't overweight at all.  In fact, she was just purrfect for a Persian.
A lady isn't supposed to tell her weight

Brulee's temperature, teeth, eyes, and ears were all normal.  The only problem was that she had evidence of fleas.  Mom Paula was suspicious of this because we were scratching a lot lately and when she'd come home, she'd see evidence of a cotton ball war in the hallway with all of our floof. Because we had the extra green papers, Mom Paula was able to buy some Revolution to get back on us (we hadn't had a treatment in 6 months).  That stuff is really good because we stopped scratching within a day!  We never go outside, but Mom Paula must have brought in those aggravating little buggers on her feet because of our hot weather in the the South.
How dare you bring fleas into our house!!!

Brulee received a Rabies vaccination, which is required by law in South Carolina.  She had to be pretreated with Benedryl because she had a reaction to her vaccinations the first time.  The vet recommended that she separate the Rabies vaccination and her other vaccination by 2-3 weeks to keep her from reacting.  Brulee is scheduled to go back in another week for a second vaccination.  Mom Paula talked to the vet about their food (wet vs. dry and brand names and formulas) and the vet encouraged Mom Paula to feed us both, as long as they are high quality.  She even encouraged Mom Paula to feed us the wet food twice a day, although Mom Paula hasn't followed through with that yet.  The vet told Mom Paula that she was doing an excellent job with grooming Brulee because her coat was exquisite.
A totally relaxed Brulee on the examination table

Dr. Keisler informed Mom Paula that Cherokee Trail Veterinary Hospital was going to become more cat friendly.  They were going to have cat specific examination rooms and planned to schedule appointments in such a way that cats would be taken directly back to the rooms instead of having to wait in the waiting room.  She also said they are considering separate waiting rooms.  Mom Paula was very pleased to hear this.  All in all, the day went quite well.

A rear view of Brulee's gorgeous floof!  (Truffle:  Can you believe she's so relaxed on that table?)

Stay tuned for more changes in our lovely household...
