The Palmetto Bowl
We've reached the last football game of the regular season (we hope we make a bowl this year). The game is against our in-state rival, Clemson University. Mom Paula has a degree from both South Carolina and Clemson, but she's a die-hard Gamecock (South Carolina). She sold her tickets for this game because it's out of town and she's going to stay at home and watch it with us. We think we may need some ear plugs because she tends to yell at the TV.
This year the name was changed officially to "The Palmetto Bowl" which reflects the nickname of the state of South Carolina - The Palmetto State. The South Carolina-Clemson game is the second-longest, consecutively-played rivalry in the country at 106 straight games (as of today).

Black Cat Friday
Our furriend, Summer, is sponsoring Black Cat Friday today on her Facebook page. Of course, we're not black, but Mom Paula's nephew, William, has a beautiful black cat named Mr. Jones that he rescued several years ago. Mr. Jones lives with two woofies and he can take care of himself. Here are a few photos of Mr. Jones from Thanksgiving.

Pee ess - if your humans venture out in the madhouse that is "Black Friday" today, we hope they are safe and get what they want. We're just going to stay right here and enjoy the day.

Waiting in Line
Mom Paula said when she saw Brulee waiting behind Truffle to get a drink of water, it reminded her of her students standing in line at the water fountain. She was thankful there wasn't a little spat at the fountain like some of her former middle school students used to do. MOL!
This is our Thirsty Cat Fountain we received to review two years ago. Truffle loves to drink from the direct flow of the water from the tap. Brulee still tends to stick her face down in the "pool" of water. Mom Paula likes it because it's ceramic and fits in beautifully with the decor. They have some new designs that we love, but they are a little more expensive than we can spend right now, so we'll continue to enjoy this one.

Easy Like Sunday and Sunday Selfie
We hope everyone has experienced a wonderful and relaxing weekend. Mom Paula had a noon football game, so she was home with us most of the day. We're taking it easy today - trying to stay warm on our Peggy Blankies.
For our Sunday Selfie, Truffle chose to share her selfie in black and white to more accurately reflect what those old Polaroid camera photos looked like back in the dark ages when Mom Paula was a child. MOL!

Photo Hunt - Feather
We think this photo mimics one of those things you see on the "Tonight Show" or a magazine where they show people who were "switched at birth." Which of the animals below has the most "feathers" or floof? In case you can't figure it out, that's Brulee on the left and a White Silkie chicken on the right. MOL!

Photo Hunt - Books
Today's Photo Hunt theme is books! We don't have as many books around the house anymore because Mom Paula tends to "read" her books by listening to them on audiobooks while she is traveling. However, there is one very important book laying around the house that she treasures very much, but she wouldn't advise anyone to read it for enjoyment.
Brulee admires Mom Paula's dissertation
Mom Paula earned her Ph.D. a long time ago and is very proud of this heavy book. There were a lot of "blood, sweat, and tears" put into the writing and publishing of this book. Does this mean we have to call her Dr. Mom Paula?

Merrick Cat Food
A couple of months ago, Merrick sent us some sample food to try out. Mom Paula already knew about the Merrick canned cat food because it was one of the few brands/flavors that Sweet Praline would eat her last few months. We'd already tried the Turducken and Thanksgiving Day Dinner flavors in the past (right after we were able to eat adult cat food).
We weren't big fans of the food two years ago, but Mom Paula thought it was worth trying again. The wonderful people at Merrick agreed to send us multiple flavors of the Merrick canned food (not fish), a variety of flavors of the Organix canned food, and a bag of the Purrfect Bistro dry food.
The Merrick Company has a 5-Star Promise for their cat and dog food:
As you can see from the photo above, we received lots of difference flavors to try, from duck to turducken. We also received samples of the Organix cat food, which recently joined Merrick. We're sure you're waiting to see what we thought about the food. We are allowed a mixture of dry food and wet food each day. Mom Paula has plenty of water fountains around the house to make sure we're getting enough fluids with our dry food. Just as soon as she poured the Merrick Purrfect Bistro Grain Free Healthy Adult Chicken dry formula in our bowl, both of us dug in. That was really a sight to see, especially with Brulee's little flat face. We loved the taste of the food. The only problem with the food is the shape of it for Brulee's little flat face. She has a hard time eating kibble that is round in shape because she eats in the typical Persian fashion of picking up the food with her tongue. That doesn't stop her from eating this food though. However, there is a mess around the food bowl at night because of the way Brulee eats it.
Many of you also know that Brulee is a finicky little eater. Truffle pretty much likes everything she tastes, but Brulee has been known to turn up her little flat nose to many a brand/flavor of cat food. That wasn't the case with each of the cans of Merrick and Organix canned food. She immediately began eating each time she received one of the different flavors and she pretty much cleaned her bowl. What she didn't finish, Truffle did. But that's normal for Brulee.

Truffle gets a close whiff of the food.
- Local Growers - All of the ingredients are purchased from local growers. Nothing is purchased from China.
- Real Whole Foods - There are no additives, sweeteners, colors, or preservatives. The food is made from real, high-quality meats and fresh-caught fish with industry-leading levels of protein, omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids.
- Our Own Kitchen - Merrick has made their food in their own kitchen for more than 25 years. They buy their own ingredients, create their own recipes, and package every bag and can of Merrick in one place. They carefully test every finished recipe to make sure it exceeds food and safety standards and their facilities uphold the strict guidelines defined by the FDA.
They also partner with organizations like NSF International, Safe Quality Food (SQF), and HACCP. - Balanced Nutrition - There are high levels of protein in their pet food. Deboned meat is always the first ingredient. None of the canned wet recipes have grain.
- Health You Can See - Pets benefit from a high quality food and some of the benefits of the Merrick food is Optimal weight and increased energy, health skin and shiny coat, healthy bones and joints, and health digestive tract.

Truffle eating the Merrick canned food
All in all, we (including Mom Paula) were very impressed with the Merrick and Organix cat food. One of our local pet supply stores carries the Merrick food, but we haven't checked to see if they carry the Organix. We'll definitely buy more of this food to include in our healthy diet. We give the varieties of the canned food and the dry food four paws up. Our only recommendation to Merrick would be to include more photos of cats on their webpage and Facebook page. This is some delicious food and people need to see cats eating it.
Special Note: We received this food from Merrick at no charge and were not compensated for our review of the food. Our opinions are always our own and honest.

Blue Aliens
Random Felines is correct when they say this new water found reminds us of blue aliens at night. This fountain is the Naturespa UV fountain that sterilizes the water through ultraviolet light and the blue LED light is for illumination at night. Mom Paula has put our fountain in the bedroom for the time being, but she says it lights up the entire bedroom with blue light. Truffle loves drinking from it, but was a little leery at first, as you can see below.
We'll try to get a photo at night to show you the blue light. Another plus of the fountain is that it's very quiet. The only sound you hear is the water flowing.

Easy Like Sunday and Sunday Selfie
Would you believe we spend over half of the day in the bed with Mom Paula yesterday? We were definitely taking it easy. She has to play the piano this morning and sing a solo at church, so we'll just stay here in bed until she gets back.

What is that Blue Light?
Mom Paula bought us a new fountain and there is a blue light where the water comes out. Truffle wasn't so sure about it at first, but now she loves the fountain and drinks directly from the stream. We'll tell you more about the fountain later.

A Trip to Atlanta
Mom Paula drove to Atlanta last Friday to the Cat Writers' Conference to meet up with some of the human cat bloggers since it was only a little over 3 hours away. She received a special invitation to attend the cocktail party for Waffles to celebrate his design on Mike's Harder Apple Firebomb Cocktail can. Mom Paula doesn't usually drink, but she said this tasted really good and would you believe she got to meet Waffles???
Part of the pawparazzi!
She was also thrilled because she was able to meet so many of her human blogging friends from the past 6 years of blogging: Debbie Glovatsky (Glogirly), Sue Grybel Strong (The Island Cats), Janiss Garza (Sparkle the Designer Cat), Deb Barnes (The Chronicles of Zee and Zoey), Lisa Richman (A Tonk's Tail), Linda Rogers (Savannah's Paw Tracks), Jeanne Kudich (Random Felines), Caren Gittleman (Cat Chat with Caren and Cody), Alana Grelyak (Cat in the Fridge), Janet Blue (The Cat on My Head), Julie McAlee (Sometimes, Cats Herd You), Connie Stevens (Tales from the Foster Kittens), and Layla Morgan Wilde (Cat Wisdom 101). She also met some new bloggers: Patty Woodland (The Maaaaa of Pricilla), Amy Palmer (Sebastian the Sensitive Soul), and Emily Hall (The Kitty Cat Chronicles). There were others at the cocktail party and at dinner at Maggiano's, but she can't remember who they were at this point and she totally forgot to take photos with her human friends. We think she was still a little awestruck from meeting Waffles in person or she is still in shock from the soccer team (she refuses to tell that story).
Mom Paula with the famous Waffles can!
After a wonderful dinner with 17 cat bloggers, Mom Paula was invited up to Jeanne Kudich's room to meet Stoli and Sangria, two foster kittens from Random Felines. She did manage to get a picture with Stoli. She promised us that she wasn't bringing home a little brother for us. She said she talked with Jeanne, Julie, and Sue until after midnight!

Mom Paula did manage to bring home a can of the Mad Kitty Cocktail (we're still looking for the swag!). We don't know what she wants us to do with it and Brulee wasn't too happy because this is what Mom Paula put in front of her on her Gotcha Day. MOL!
Brulee with the Waffles' can
Mom Paula: This was the best decision I've made in a long time. Work has been really rough lately and I've had some health issues that I haven't shared with everyone, but I haven't laughed and smiled so much in just a few hours as I did last Friday night. I wasn't able to attend the conference, but I did attend the cocktail party for Waffles, go to dinner with 17 cat bloggers, visit some foster kittens, and have a nice morning chat over coffee and hot chocolate Saturday morning before leaving to drive back to Columbia, SC. I'm truly looking forward to seeing my new friends again at Blogpaws in Nashville. Thank you to everyone for helping me to feel so welcome and appreciated. I really needed this!

Brulee's Gotcha Day
Can you believe it's been 3 years since Brulee came to live with us?!? She was such a tiny little thing when Mom Terri brought her to us back in 2011.
She was a brave little kitty from the very beginning and loved playing with Truffle. Truffle would hiss at her and attack her, but Brulee would bounce back up and start playing again. Mom Paula stayed home all day when Brulee arrived just to make sure everything was okay. Would you believe Brulee and Truffle never had to be separated?
Mom Paula did watch us closely and Truffle tended to get a little rough at times, but they were both still kittens so it didn't take too long for them to become the sweet siblings they are. For those of you who may not know it, Truffle and Brulee are half sisters and are 11 1/2 weeks apart in age. They have the same daddycat, but different mommycats. Brulee was born 4 days after little Beignet (Truffle's brother from the same litter) went to the bridge.
Brulee claimed the pink Peggy Blankie from day 1 and it's still hers!
We're so glad Brulee joined us here in Lexington, SC and we hope we have many more years with her. Mom Paula had really had a rough year in 2011 (losing both Sweet Praline and Beignet) and when Brulee came, our family was complete.
