Brulee
If you'd like to read more about the silver and golden shaded Persians, you can read here. Both of Truffle's parents were silver shaded Persians. Brulee had the same daddy cat, but her mommy cat was a golden shaded Persian.

Silver Coat
We know that most of you are aware that we are Persians. We're a special type of Persian, called a Silver Shaded Persian, which is in the same category as a Chinchilla Persian (less silver tipping). Our base coat is white with silver tips. Truffle has a lot more silver than Brulee, especially in her face and on her back. Brulee has very little silver in her face and just a tipping of silver on her back. Here's a photo of Brulee showing her silver coat on her back.

I've seen an occasional silver shaded Persian at the cat shows I've attended. They always take my human's breath away!

ReplyDeleteI never asked before, but I guess you guys are pretty high maintenance, with daily brushing, special food and such like eh? None of this ordinary stuff for you guys?

Yes, we are very high maintenance. Truffle is easier to groom and doesn't get too many mats, but Brulee's fur is cotton soft and she gets mats just moving around. Mom Paula tries to groom us every day (if we let her), but it is a challenge. Brulee also has the additional problem of eye drainage, so Mom Paula is constantly cleaning her eyes (which Brulee hates).

ReplyDeleteYou gurls are very pretty. One of TW’s old neighbors had a silver coated Persian named Babydoll Loverboy and she used to have him outside all the time. Unbelieveable.

Laura Belle was the only long haired kitty in her litter with just perfect calico markings. She found a forever home for Christmas and Oreo misses her.
Interesting! We did't know her mom was a golden-shaded. We've been doing a LOT of research on this recently, too!
ReplyDeleteYes, Brulee's mom, Mikayla is a beautiful golden. Mom Paula was hoping Mikayla would have a golden, but both parents have to be golden in order to have a golden kitten.
