Mom Paula is pretty amazing at taking care of us, working hard and running around doing who knows how many errands and tasks each day.
We know though it can be hard for her and other humans to just relax, be stress-free and take time to play. With a little help from the famous Morris the Cat from 9Lives® brand cat food, we thought we’d share some pearls of wisdom about doing just that.
The 9Lives® Live Well & Prospurr Campaign
You can’t sleep this freely without learning how to let go, and the best way to do that is by freeing your mind through playtime! Morris has been around almost as long as Mom Paula and he’s always advocated “living well” for cats. Morris has been working behind the scenes the past few years and recently resurfaced with the the 9Lives® Live Well & Prospurr campaign . He’s sharing his purrspective on living well for both cats and their humans in a recently released video.
Morris also released “The Totally Official Morris Guide to Amusement, Entertainment, Playtime & More.” We’re going to share our techniques for achieving that Morris state of mind.
If you’d like to learn more about Morris and the 9Lives® Live Well & Prospurr campaign, you can visit them on Facebook,Twitter, and Instagram. Share your cat’s playfulness with the hashtags #prospurr and #promoentry, and you can even donate a bowl of food to the ASPCA when you tweet with the hashtag #Morrisfeeds. See Official Rules for complete details.
Let Go
If anyone knows how to let go and have fun, it’s us kitties. The first piece of advice for even the most stressed out human is to just release all of those frustrations and anxieties. Now for some like our sister-before-us, Sweet Praline, that would be about finding the best sun puddle streaming through the doors and windows, lie flat on her back and soak in the warmth of the sun and take a little catnap. But that isn’t always easy when you have a lot on your mind, like that squirrel that keeps hanging out in the yard or worrying about all of that mussed up fur that needs licking. For that, a little play time is a good way to free your mind.
Entertain Yourself
This is how you can push those nasty anxious thoughts out of your mind. Morris recommends the best way to have fun is to find a great scratching post and scratch away until your thoughts are free from the pressures of the outside world. Of course, humans can’t really use a scratching post, but they can find some type of repetitive motion, such as riding a stationary bicycle or playing the piano until they get to the happy thoughts.
Play With Friends
Us cats know how to have a good time. Nothing takes your mind off of uptight worries than a furry friend to play with and chase around! Whether we’re up in high places or crawling through tight spaces, we know the best way to enjoy play is to have good company to do it with. It is also nice to know that if any of us need a little alone time, there is bound to be a nice box that fits just right.
Prospurr
Being able to “prospurr” is a state of mind where you can just relax and not have a care in the world. Us kitties are able to prospurr when we get those special scratches behind the ears, a loving belly rub, and nose kisses from our humans. We get to that ultimate state of relaxation where those calming purrs escape from our throats and there isn’t a care in the world. Mom Paula says she can feel her heart rate slow down and her muscles relax when she holds us when we’re in the prospurr state. Maybe she is learning something from us kitties after all!
Cats are really great role models for reminding the humans in their lives to take time to play without distraction.
We had forgotten just how well Sweet Praline could kick back and relax. You girls do a good job of it, too. We just love to see those Persian bellah furs!
ReplyDeleteYou girls know how to kick back purrfectly. We can all learn about living a happier life from them.
ReplyDeleteThis is great advice... now if only I could get my human to follow it!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great program and you girls look like pros.
ReplyDeleteIf we kitties can teach humans anything, it is how to relax ;)
Purrs Georgia and Julie,
Treasure and JJ
Very good advice. We love the photo of Sweet Praline relaxing in the sun!
ReplyDeleteHumans really do need to take more lessons from us cats. We could teach them so much.
ReplyDeleteHumans so need to listen to us more...
ReplyDeleteAw I love Morris' new campaign. I got to intermew him a few weeks ago about this. Apparently, Callie really likes the food too. I had put a bag of 9Lives away in the cupboard and she ripped it open mol.
ReplyDeleteThat was a fun post pretty girls and that Morris is a very cool dude!
ReplyDeleteGreat post!
ReplyDeleteThat is good advice.
ReplyDeleteGreat advice and love the photo of you and the girls!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful - and great article! such a fun post - thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLovely post, I feel relaxed already!
ReplyDeleteCats are great role models and can teach us a lot about relaxing and de-stressing. I always admire how Carmine and Milita can just fall asleep the minute their head lays down whereas it takes me a while to get to sleep.
ReplyDeleteCute video and a great suggestion to just go out and play!
ReplyDeleteAll that relaxed kitty stuff has me kneading a nap =^^=...while I have no cats now, I had the throughout my childhood, and remember what cool characters they were! And when they played, they put their whole body into it! Nice campaign from Morris, too =)
ReplyDeleteGreat post- Kilo the Pug is good at relaxing too. I play solitaire to relax my mind
ReplyDeleteWow! What a great campaign! Love it!
