Truffle and Brulee sharing the warm blanket on the examination table |
Brulee was feeling fine but she had to go along with Truffle so they would have the same smells on them. When we were taken in the examination room (set up for cats), there was a warm blanket on the examination table. Mom Paula put Truffle up there first for the vet tech to take her temperature and to be weighed. Once the vet tech was finished (she wasn't in a very good mood, but that's another story) and left, Mom Paula let Brulee get on the examination table. Usually Brulee goes straight to the scale and rests while Truffle is examined, but she decided she liked the warm blanket and climbed beside Truffle on the table. We don't usually rest to close to each other, but that blanket was nice and warm.

Side by side on the examination table |
The new vet, Dr. Hansche, who'd seen us last week was on call. He walked in the door and immediately had a smile on his face and walked over to us and begin cuddling with us. Mom Paula told him we were much better with our URI, but was concerned about Truffle's upset tummy. Mom Paula told Dr. Hansche that she needed to move Brulee out of the way so he could examine Truffle, and his words were "I'm not finished cuddling yet."

Dr. Hansche from Cherokee Trail Veterinary Hospital with Truffle and Brulee |
Dr. Hansche examined Truffle and said he didn't feel any mass and her abdomen didn't appear to hurt when he pressed on it. He said she probably had a little bit of fur she was trying to get rid of and when Mom Paula mentioned that she'd recently traveled to Colorado and Georgia, Dr. Hansche asked her if she traveled much. When Mom Paula said yet, he responded that Truffle could be experiencing a little separation anxiety. He told Mom Paula to watch her the next couple of days, but that she should be fine. He paused a moment to pose with Truffle and Brulee prior to putting them in their PTUs. His comment was "I just love these two cats." We think we like him too.
Truffle appears to be feeling better. Mom Paula is going to start giving her some calming treats when she has to travel to see if that helps.

ReplyDeleteIs your vet a feline practitioner or is he just sensitive to the special needs and desires of cats?
ReplyDeleteI believe he's just sensitive to the needs and desires of cats. There are two vets there that tend to know how to work with cats and I try to get appointments with one of them.
