Sweet Heroes
We know many of you read our blog and see us as those southern sweet and sassy Persians and you are probably thinking, "Boy, are they pampered" and you would be correct with that thought because we deserve it. Did you also know that we are heroes? Mom Paula is one of those Type-A personalities and she has a very stressful job. She works 10-12 hours a day at the office (or longer when she's on the road) and comes home and spends another few hours helping us blog and visit others on social media. Recently, Mom Paula became very ill and ran a fever for 6 straight days. We didn't leave her side during that time and always knew when to snuggle up next to her. Something about our warm and soft bodies and the enduring purrs helped to comfort her when no one else was around. Truffle likes to sleep right next to Mom Paula's left side and when Mom Paula would wake up, Truffle would give the soft chirp or the silent meow and Mom Paula would close her eyes and rest a little more peacefully. Mom Paula says we're heroes to her because we're good for her soul.![]() |

Truffle has that "sixth sense" about knowing when she's needed. Many of you know that Truffle had a little brother named Beignet who was supposed to come live with Mom Paula. One week before the scheduled arrival date, Beignet developed a sarcoma from his vaccination and died on the operating table while the vet was trying to remove all of the cancer cells. Truffle's first mom, Terri, was devastated because she was the vet tech who was doing the anesthesia. Terri told Mom Paula that while all of the other kittens were playing with each other and doing kitten things that Truffle followed Terri all over the house. Every time Terri would sit down and begin crying, Truffle would climb up next to her and snuggle in. She said Truffle wouldn't leave her side. Terri told Mom Paula that she was getting a very special fur child. Not only is Truffle a hero for Mom Paula, she was also a sweet little hero for Terri.
Chicken Soup for the Soul for Pets
Mom Paula loves reading the Chicken Soup for the Soul® books. She says the books about animals are so touching and she usually has tears in her eyes when she reads how each pet has touched the lives of their humans. Did you know there was Chicken Soup for the Soul Pet Food? Mom Paula says she likes to return our love by providing us with pet food that is good for us and tasty. Chicken Soup for the Soul Pet Food is an all natural pet food made in the USA. We received some sample bags of the Indoor with Hairball Care dry food to try. As soon as Mom Paula put the food in the bowl, Truffle immediately began eating it. The food is made with real meat as the first ingredient and includes fruits, vegetables and herbs. There are other dry and canned food formulas available. We'll share more about these in a future post. In the meantime, you can locate your local pet store who carries Chicken Soup for the Soul Pet Food by visiting the Retail Store Locator.

Great post and I'm a big fan of the Chicken Soup brand.
ReplyDeleteYou girls are so good! I'm there when my human is ill too, or sad, like she was recently... but I'm really young, and I don't think I'm a hero yet. Maybe if I get to be a therapy cat, that will change.
ReplyDeleteYou take such good care of Mom Paula. You really are a hero!
ReplyDeleteWhat good girls you are taking care of your Mom when she wasn't feeling well.
ReplyDeleteLuv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
We spoil and love our pets because of what they give us in return. I believe pets know when their humans aren't well and need comforting just like Truffle did for you.
ReplyDeletewe know how much those girls mean to you Mom Paula :)
ReplyDeleteI know how much the kittehs helped with your illness, and the laying on of "paws" really does help. Glad you're feeling better and bravo! to this promotion.
ReplyDeleteGreat review and post! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the book series and their food was a hit with the boys after last year's conference.
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet post! The bond between people and special animals is truly amazing!
ReplyDeleteI know Truffle is a wonderful companion to you. We haven't really heard much about this food before, but it sounds good.
ReplyDeleteBoth of you ladies are very good for helping your mom get better. I always know if my mum is feeling ill or sad and don't leave her side.
ReplyDeleteThey are definitely heroes. I am glad you are feeling better.
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful post. Our pets are our greatest heroes. We love all things Chicken Soup for the Soul!
ReplyDeleteMom says we are all her heroes too! You girls are all so lucky to have each other.
ReplyDeleteThis is indeed a beautiful post. I loved every sentence and thank you for it. I love knowing how other parents love their fur babies and the babies return that love.
ReplyDeleteTruffle certainly has a hero's instinct! Chuleta is sensitive and has rescued me, on occasion. She's elderly, now, so it's my turn to rescue her.
ReplyDeleteWonderful, we are so glad your Mum has you as her heroes.
ReplyDeleteMom Paula, sounds a bit like our mum... she's just started a super busy and stressful job. You girls are heroes for looking after Mom whilst she was sick...
ReplyDeleteHow can one pick just one hero... nah, of course they are both you heroes ;)
ReplyDeleteYou are heroes! I'm sure you helped heal your mama much faster. You deserve that yummy food!
ReplyDeleteYou guys are the best nurses!

ReplyDeleteSo sweet... You're such good nurses for your mom ! You both are heroes, for sure ! Purrs
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet post! Great review!
ReplyDeleteTruffle sounds a lot like Carmine - he is a nurse kitty, too. When I was sick with a horrible sinus infection for a month, there was a whole week where I could barely get out of bed, and Carmine stayed with me the whole time. We have some truly special kitties!
ReplyDeleteAw, Truffle, I loved this story about you. I like taking care of my mom, too.
ReplyDeleteThis is so sweet! I love it. :) Truffle, you are a wonderful kitty! Thank you for sharing your story. I am a type A personality too and the illness I have been dealing with since this past summer has been devastating to me. Cinco and Manna have definitely been heroes to me throughout this time. :)
