We've been a fan of WeRuVa since we were kittens and had our first taste of Paw Lickin' Chicken. Over the past four years, we've sampled almost every variety and flavor of their food and we must say that we are fans. We live in the South and everyone knows that we Southerners love iced tea (Well, the humans do)! Imagine our surprise when we discovered that WeRuVa® has developed a cat litter made from Green Tea and Hinoki Wood.
WeRuVa is a family owned, natural pet food company that is named after and inspired by three rescue cats Webster, Rudi, and Vanessa. Nick and Stacey Forman wanted to make cat food that was of the highest standard possible for their three cats. They used the same passion to create a unique cat litter. The first thing you notice about the WeRuVa It's a Tea Potty! Cat Litter is its bright packaging and the aromatic fresh smell! Gone is the dust of other litters and in its place is a natural cat litter made with Hinoki Wood and Green Tea. We've tried several litter products in our short 4 years, but there is always that smell of "litter." Mom Paula has become very sensitive to dust lately and she's always concerned that visitors will notice the smells of our litter boxes, so she was interested in trying this litter.

Truffle sniffing out the new litter |
When Mom Paula got her first cat at 20 years old, she was determined that the cat would stay inside for her safety. Muff lived to be almost 19 years old, but there was always the battle of litter box odors. That battle continued when Sweet Praline came to live with her 20 years ago. She tried just about every litter that was on the market, but they all had that "smell" when the box/bag was opened and it was difficult to cover odors we had to use the facilities. She's since discovered that bacteria is usually the culprit to litter box odors. Hinoki Wood and Green Tea team up to suppress the bacteria and odor naturally. How does this work? Hinoki Wood has a characteristic that naturally curbs humidity and Green Tea contains catechins. They work together to suppress the growth of mold and bacteria, which aids in odor control. This litter is clay and grain-free and contains no corn or wheat (common culprits of cat allergens). The WeRuVa It's a Tea Potty! Cat litter is sustainable because of the use of salvaged by-products from other industries such and piano and construction industries. WeRuVa plants a new tree for every tree that is used in the making of their cat litter.

It sounds like this litter worked out at your place, at least for Brulee.
ReplyDeleteKitties can be very picky about what is in their litter box - and they should be! Weruva Cat Litter is pawsome. Cinco loves it and Manna is a little more timid about it, but I think she will get used to it. Maybe Truffle will too!
ReplyDelete-Purrs from your friends at www.PlayfulKitty.net
TW is afraid to fill the entire box with the new litter than I won't use it. I like the mix.
ReplyDeleteBrulee,
ReplyDeleteBravo you are very brave to try new litter....mom calls me an old fuddy dud when it comes to litter.
Hugs Madi the fuddy Duddy kitty
Sounds like a good product. Especially if it keeps bacteria and odors from growing.
ReplyDeleteSounds really different.
ReplyDeleteWe're loving this litter too!
ReplyDeleteWe've never been fans of litter made from wood or newspaper or corn or wheat, so we're not sure we would like this litter. Though we love our Weruva food.
ReplyDeleteThat one is capturing our attention and we're thinking about it. Thanks for the great review sweet girls!
ReplyDeleteGreat review..we didn't know the background for the name and now can connect that with their other products, too!
ReplyDeleteInteresting litter! Thanks for the review.
ReplyDeleteThe Florida Furkids
Guys that was a pawesome review!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! Great review! This sounds like a great kitty litter! My cat has allergies and I will have to check this out!
ReplyDeleteGreat that there are so many options for cat litter, and that you don't have to live with the litter scent in your house!
ReplyDeleteI don't have a cat myself but will have to tell my sister about WeRuVa litter. She was actually just complaining about her current brand of cat litter to me the other day.
ReplyDeleteGreat review, and I love the pictures of potty time. My cat would kill me if I tried!
ReplyDeleteI worry a little bit about the green tea additive, since caffeine is bad for kitties and green tea leaves have caffeine in them! Does it say what form of tea they use on the bag, so it's safe if kitty licks it off their paws?
Great question. I'll ask WeRuVa about it.
DeleteThis brand doesn't sell in Portugal, so I've never tried this for my cat. But I must say the name they choose for the litter it's something else :)
ReplyDeleteRosa @ Cat Lady Confidential
What a great review! We would love to try this litter with our kitty! We are currently feeding the Goldens Weruva Caloric Melody dog food. Weruva is a fabulous company, so happy to see them expanding!
ReplyDeleteI had no idea there were so many options for potty - and adding green tea sounds interesting!
ReplyDeleteCute! Sounds like a great product! :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like an interesting product, I'm intrigued by the green tea scent. But come on mom, how about some privacy for the ladycat?! LOL
ReplyDeleteI don't have cats but I hear about how they can be picky about litter. Glad at least one of them likes it!
ReplyDeleteIt never fails that I want a cat after visiting your page...that means daily! MOL!
ReplyDeleteIt's never too late!
DeleteWow- kitty litter made with green tea. Sounds like some great products and I love the packaging.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad Brulee likes the Weruva litter! Carmine and Lita are enjoying theirs, too. I love the green tea smell. I hate that "litter" smell you talk about. The Weruva litter does an excellent job at odor control!
ReplyDeleteI really hate that cat litter/pee smell so sounds a great product. Fantastic photos especially the top one.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteGood review, thank you! I wonder if my cats would try eating this litter. They have in the past with other non-clay litters.
ReplyDeleteI like your photos- too cute! I learned a lot about litter too!
ReplyDeleteThis is such an interesting product. I'm glad Brulee likes it, even if Truffle is being picky about it!
ReplyDeleteLove & biscuits,
