Today is National Disaster Pet Preparedness Day.  Earlier this week, we shared some helpful tips from the Hill’s Food, Shelter & Love® program ensuring safety for your pets in case you experience those unfortunate disasters. We encourage you to visit our post to get more information.

We encourage you to set up your own “Pet Emergency Go-Kit” of pet supplies that is readily accessible in an emergency. A Pet Go-Kit should include at a minimum

• first aid supplies and guide book; 
• a 3-day supply of pet food in a waterproof container and bottled water; 
• a safety harness and leash (or a carrier); 
• waste clean-up supplies; medications and medical records; 
• a contact list of veterinarian and pet care organizations; 
• information on your pet’s feeding routine and any behavioral issues; 
• comfort toys; and 
• a blanket.
