We can thank Sweet Praline for our first pet fountain. This is not a sponsored post, but we do have some links to specific fountains sold by PetSafe®.

Sweet Praline and the Drinkwell Platinum® Fountain |
July is National Pet Hydration Awareness Month which is sponsored by PetSafe® brand. We shared a previous post about the importance staying hydrated, especially in our Southern heat in South Carolina. We've experienced more than average days with the temperatures at 100+ degrees and the forecast is calling for the next three days to be 101+ degrees. We stay inside with the AC running and Mom Paula makes sure we have plenty of fresh water to drink. We'd had several different types of pet fountains over the years and Mom Paula has them placed throughout the house. Each of us have our preference which type of fountain we prefer. Truffle likes drinking from a flowing stream and Brulee likes to drink from the bowl. Our first pet fountain was the Drinkwell Platinum® water fountain. Mom Paula had purchased one for Sweet Praline, thinking she'd drink more water if she had one, but Praline never adjusted to the sound of the pump and the water fall. Mom Paula put the fountain away, but she kept numerous bowls around the house filled with fresh waters. Praline's favorite place to drink was in the bedroom where her water bowl was directly below the AC vent.
Truffle original mom had pet fountains in her house for all of the cats, so Truffle was prepared for the sound of flowing water. The difference was that her original fountain had a design similar to the Drinkwell® Zen Fountain where the water flowed like water flows over rocks in a mountain stream. Mom Paula pulled out the Platinum fountain once Truffle came to live with her, hoping Truffle would drink from it. Mom Paula was sitting in the living room watching the SEC network one evening and kept hearing the stream from the water fountain stop and then start again. When she walked into the kitchen, she saw Truffle exploring the new fountain. Luckily, Mom Paula had the video camera close by and quickly began filming. Mom Paula still laughs when she watches this video. We won't spoil the surprise before you watch the video, but we hope it brings a little laughter in your home today.
We hope all of our furry friends (and their humans) are staying cool and hydrated during these hot summer months.
MOL ! Thank you for the cute video, it makes us smile for the rest of the day ! Purrs
ReplyDeleteThat is such a funny video! MOL, Truffle!
ReplyDeleteSomecat had some fun there :)
ReplyDeleteFountains are always more fun to play in than to drink from...
ReplyDeleteAaaaaaaaw Dat's really cute. Me did dat too and just couldn't figger out why da water kept runnin' from me. Sis Lexi just stuck her paw in and grabbed da stream and brought it over to her. She was a smarty pants sometimes. MOL Hope ya'll have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteLuv ya'

Is your Mom going to have to dry you with a towel when you've had your drink Truffle or get the fur dryer out?
ReplyDeleteLove it! I always make sure Henry has three bowls of water when I'm gone. Sometimes they can get gross, so a fountain would be lovely!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a fabulous water fountain! Thanks for telling us about it.
ReplyDeleteHaha. She looks very distrustful of the fountain! Don't blame her.
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of the fountain :) the sound of water is so soothing
ReplyDeleteAwww, what a cute video! I bet our kitty would play with the fountain rather than drink from it! BOL!
ReplyDeleteAw, it was nice to see Sweet Praline again. We love our PetSafe fountain!
ReplyDeletePraline was adorable and so is this video :)
ReplyDeleteLove the video! We have a pet fountain too - although Charlie still prefers to drink out the tap every morning when I brush my teeth.
ReplyDeleteThis is so cool! My dogs love drinking out of the hose when I fill their out door water this could either be amazing or a disaster cause they also love to play when the hose is on! I'll need to try this out!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness!! That video had me laughing out loud for real!! It was so cute!! My daughter uses a fountain for her kitty and he loves it. His favorite is to get drinks out of the bathtub faucet, and he often begs for the faucet to be turned on for him!!
ReplyDeleteI love my drinking fountain! It's one for big dogs! My dogs are crazy about it! Before the one we had from Petsafe, we had one from Dogit. I don't know which one is better, they both have their advantages!
ReplyDeleteWe tried a fountain a few years ago and no one seemed to care for it - I think it was the sound. Now we just have water bowls spread throughout the house so many that I occasionally trip over them. LOL
ReplyDeleteWe don't have a fountain, but I think my cat especially would enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteI know that we need our pets to drink one ounce of water per body weight per day. This fountain will help so much.
ReplyDeleteThey still flog that fountain as 'interesting' and fun over here in NZ. It was useful and functional in its day - but - I know but when I see what is available now, there are some gorgeous ones around! I love the newer ones * sigh *
ReplyDeleteMom Paula keeps telling the people at PetSafe to design one of these that is ceramic or stainless steel.
DeleteThis makes so much more sense than changing water in two big bowls two or three time daily.
ReplyDeletePetSafe has a great variety of pet fountains! I'm so glad that you ladies have a couple to help you through the hot summer months. You have it much worse than we do when it comes to heat and my kitties look like they are melting some days. The video is adorable! :)

I just love the video! Too adorable! Truffle is just the sweetest! I had to watch it again! Truffle and Mom, thanks for the great smiles!
ReplyDeleteAdorable. Love the video. Love the fountain as well!
ReplyDeleteLove the fountain and the video. Not sure if Kilo would adapt. So cute watching Truffle explore it.
ReplyDeletePet hydration is so impawtant, all year round. You do a great job of reminding us about that, especially with all the beautiful fountains you showcase!
