Low Phosphorous Cat Food So Good, Your Human May Eat It

Everyone who visits our blog knows that  Brulee is finicky eater, which challenges Mom Paula to find food that Brulee will eat on a regular basis.  Brulee has the flatter Persian face and she doesn't bite into her food to eat like most cats.  She eats the stereotypical Persian way of picking up the food with the back of her tongue to get it in her mouth.  Because of this, Brulee likes food that is shredded in gravy and it has to taste good.

Weruva is one of the cat foods that Brulee has eaten since Mom Paula gave us our first can over four years ago.  In fact, Weruva cat food is so delicious that Mom Paula ate some at BlogPaws this past summer and there's a video to prove it.  Mom Paula likes to remind us that food must be complete and balanced in addition to the taste. We've tried some food that is supposed to be good for us in the past and Brulee would take one sniff and walk away. She hasn't walked away from any of the flavors of Weruva yet.

Weruva is a family-owned company and the cat food is made in a human-food facility with rigorous British Retail Consortium (BRC) food standards.  The food is deboned and hand packed and safe for humans to eat.  Weruva canned cat food is low in ash content (ground-up bone) and subsequently - phosphorous and magnesium.  Weruva's food is not designed for any specific purpose, except to be a complete and balanced food for adult maintenance. But they've become the "go to" brand to assist cats suffering from kidney and UTI ailments because of the low ash content combined with high quality protein and high moisture.  It's important to note that the food isn't designed to prevent, cure, or treat any particular ailment and your humans should always consult with their veterinarian.

Last year, we reviewed the different varieties of Weruva canned food and introduced TruLuxe, which is the newest line of cat food from Weruva.  One of the TruLuxe flavors, Steak Frites, is made of grass fed beef mixed with pumpkin and sweet potatoes.  The Weruva Steak Frites are featured as the lowest in phosphorus on Dr. Lisa A. Pierson's list of lowest phosphorous cat foods.  You may also find that Weruva's cat food tends to be lower in mineral content than many prescription diets.  We think this is a great time to add Steak Frites to your diet to join your humans eating pumpkin during the fall season.  As  you can tell from the photos above, both Brulee and Truffle enjoyed the taste of Steak Frites.

To find a store near you that carries Weruva cat food, you can visit the store locator on the website. Weruva products are alway available through many online pet food retailers.  We're definitely keeping Weruva on our list of food that is healthy for us and delicious.  There are still a lot of flavors of Weruva we haven't tried yet, so we think we'll visit our local pet supply store and try out the different varieties to find our favorites.

  1. We love Weruva! But we don't get it too often because it is expensive, and there are other premium brands that cost a bit less.

  8. We love Weruva foods! We've never tried this flavor though because we usually stay away from beef foods because Ernie had an allergic reaction to beef, but given the great quality of Weruva foods, we might give this one a try.

  9. My cats love all the flavors! We try to rotate them through different flavors often.

  10. I like that this product has a low ash content. My Moko, who is at least 10 years old, has been having more difficulty with the food I've been feeding her. She had a UTI along with her allergies a few months ago, and with the antibiotic and steroid the vet gave her, she did much better. Now she's not wanting to eat and has lost weight again (and will be going back to the vet in the next couple of days). I'm thinking the low ash food might be a great idea for her, since she has a history of UTI problems.

  15. We love that the ingredients in Weruva are good enough for humans to eat! I ate right from a can of food when we were at BlogPaws and, minus needing a dash of salt, it was fantastic! If it's good for us humans, it's good for the kitties and pups!

  16. Wonderful review! I'd love to try this for our Binx. The grass-fed beef is something I really like in the food. Plus pumpkin is a staple in our FiveSibes home, so this sounds healthy, and I think our Binx would just love it!

  40. Nice post. This food look so yummy and healthy.
Few days ago, I was very tensed about my cat- Miko, as she refused to take normal cat food that I used to give her. Some days later she became sick and there was marked weight loss. So I stareted to look for kind of food that will be perfect for her to regain weight. Then I've found the best quality canned cat food that surprisingly works to regain her appetite and weight.

  41. In the event that bread is something that you can't avoid, it is smarter to run with entire grain bread having complex carbs. Both basic and complex carbs get separated into glucose, the main contrast is that intricate starches are separated significantly more gradually. ephesus menu pittsburgh

  42. As I was signing up for your newsletter I saw the link for raw cat food. My almost-18-year-old cat died a year ago and was sickly for some time before that. She only wanted one type of one brand of wet cat food. I tried to feed her better food like jars of baby-food meat meals, cooked chicken, cooked organ meats - understand that this was very loving of me as I have been vegetarian for 36 years and never learned to cook meat. My next oldest cat turns 18 today. I brought a 3-year old into the house soon after the other one died and they still do not get along. The old one seemed to be following the same path as the other - only eating the same food as the other. She has recently accepted other wet food and has become a little more spry. At her age, I wonder if I shouldn't use the kitten formula. She grew up on dry kibble and wet food just in the past year. I'm guessing her teeth are not in the best shape. The 2 cats eat each others food so I hope that the kitten style will be OK for the young one. Can you provide any guidance for me?

  43. I have a adorable lovely feline who loves me and playing with me. When i am feeling pain he reduce my pain with their loves. Few days ago I have faced some problems with my lovely feline to feed him. I bought cat food from a pet store and when I feeding him then my cat coughing up hairballs consistently and vomits. I felt nervous about that reason and one of my friends she told me your feline have some digestive problem. So you should to feed him cat food for regurgitation tends to work, these foods are highly digestible and designed for cats with a sensitive stomach. That was my painful situation in my life.
