Truffle hasn't been herself lately and Mom Paula was a little concerned about her.  We chatted with an animal communicator this week and things are beginning to turn around.  We can't wait to share our conversation with you in the near future.  Truffle is doing much better and even surprised Mom Paula by rolling over on her back while playing the other day.  Truffle never does this, so it brought a smile to Mom Paula's face.

Have you ever wondered what a fluffy Persian looks like from underneath? Brulee was recently on the glass table and Mom Paula was able to get underneath her to get this photo. Today is National Creme Brulee Day!  Brulee is thrilled there is a day set aside for her. We know the day is designated for the dessert, but Brulee is sweeter.

Rest in Your Comfortable Oasis

We kitties always like to find a comfortable place to sleep since we sleep 16-20 hours each day. Sometimes we sleep in one of our cat trees, on one of our scratcher pads, on the cool tile floor, on one of the human beds, or on Mom Paula's lap. There are those times we like a good and comfortable pet bed to rest in.

We're still staying indoors (of course, we are indoor-only cats) under the ceiling fans and near the AC vents this weekend. All of this fur can make a beautiful ladycat hot! Truffle decided she wanted to pose for today's Sunday Selfie.

It's hot in SC!  We're having several days of 100+ temperatures with a higher heat index. We're staying in the bedroom with the lights off, the ceiling fan on high, and the AC cooling with Mom Paula today.

Learning About the Cat Daddy #ChewyInfluencer

Many of you know Mom Paula recently retired in March 2017. She's been busy trying to tie up loose ends with her retirement, purge and reorganize the house, and readjust to a new lifestyle after almost 45 years of working. The last book she actually read (physical copy) was the Harry Potter books. She was so busy with research and reading nonfiction while working as a college professor and a program manager for Academic Affairs that she had little time for reading for relaxation. The first book she's read for enjoyment since her retirement is Cat Daddy from Jackson Galaxy.

We're really late posting today!  Grandma Faye had eye surgery yesterday and Grandpa Paul has hurt his back, so Mom Paula is helping them out. We'd appreciate all the purrs your can muster for them.

Sunday Selfie

We're taking it easy this weekend. Mom Paula is doing a "This is Us" marathon by watching the first season through the "On Demand" channel. She didn't watch it the first year and heard so much about the show that she decided to see what all the talk was about. She has three more shows to watch to catch up, so we'll just rest beside her while the TV is on and take it easy.

Back to LunaPic today for our  Caturday Art creation.  We chose the "illusion" effect for Truffle. This effect turned her into a red cream Persian instead of a silver shaded Persian.

Cleaning Up the Office

We're helping Mom Paula clean up the home office. Brulee is curious about what's behind the pile of stuff and the closed doors. It's taking a while, but eventually everything will be completed with our supervision.

Thankful Thursday

We're thankful Mom Paula's injury is improving.  She says there's very little pain and the swelling is going down.  Truffle isn't quite sure what to make of her brightly colored bandage.

6th Blogoversary

Can you believe we've been blogging with Sweet Purrfections for 6 years!?! Our first blog post was July 12, 2011 and Mom Paula introduced two litters of kittens where a future kitty would be coming to live with her. She'd been blogging with Sweet Praline for 3 years and after losing her in April 2011 to cancer, she continued the blog with special memory posts for an additional month. She decided she wanted a fresh start with a new blog that didn't feature the name of the cat(s) in the title. We explained the process for deciding the name of the blog on our 4th blogoversary post.  By the end of Summer 2011, it was decided that two kittens would come to live with Mom Paula.

Mom Paula is trying to take it easy today because when she was trying to open a can where the pop top broke, she decided to use a knife and missed and stabbed her thumb. She said a few HBO words, but she's doing okay.

Wrong Suitcase

Truffle realizes she chose the wrong suitcase to keep Mom Paula from traveling this weekend.  Mom Paula used the other blue suitcase!  Good thing for us she's coming back home today.

Truffle and Brulee are trying to figure out how to play with their track ball since Mom Paula isn't here to push it around for them.  We think someone may be a little spoiled.

Thankful Thursday

We're thankful today that the majority of the fireworks has ended (we hope!).  We only had one burst of fireworks last night, but that was it. We know the weekend is coming, so there may be more, but we're going to enjoy the quiet while we can.

Thank Cod the fireworks finally ended (we hope)!  People were still shooting them off until 1:15 am this morning.  We were doing okay most of the evening, thanks to the Pet Naturals Calming treats and other things Mom did to help the house feel as normal as possible.

Cats + Fireworks ≠ An Unhappy Cat

Mom Paula had to go back to her old mathematical teaching days for our header today.  Cats "plus" fireworks "does not equal" an Unhappy Cat. Mom Paula is going to share with our readers what she does to help keep us calm during thunderstorms and fireworks.

Last night was a little rough here because some of our neighbors began shooting fireworks.  In South Carolina, the general public can purchase and shoot fireworks (even in neighborhoods like ours). Poor Truffle spent most of the evening under the bed.  Around midnight, she finally came out from under the bed and joined Mom Paula in the living room to watch some TV.

We have a feeling there are going to be several more nights of fireworks and even thunderstorms.  Truffle didn't used to be afraid of loud noises, but something must have spooked her a couple of years ago, because now she takes off at the first clap of thunder or bang of fireworks.

We felt a little wild today, so we used the Kandinsky effect on LunaPic for our Caturday Art creation.  The app turned our eyes a red/orange, so we went to PicMonkey and added green back to our eyes, so we'd still look like ourselves.
