Truffle introduces the PetSafe® Drinkwell® Stainless 360 Multi-Pet Fountain |
July is Pet Hydration Month and was started by PetSafe® Brand to raise the awareness to pet parents about the importance of keeping pets appropriately hydrated. As we stated earlier, 80% of your cat's body is made of water compared to 60% in humans. It's important for cats (and dogs) to drink a minimum of one-ounce of water per pound of their body weight per day. If your cat is active or has a health condition, this amount may increase.

Proper hydration can help prevent urinary tract infections (UTIs) and urinary disease, aid with energy levels and temperature regulation, and speed recovery time from sickness of surgery. If cats don't receive the proper amount of water, they can become dehydrated. Dehydration occurs when fluid levels drop to less than normal due to reduced water intake or increased fluid loss (illness, increased activity, lack of availability of fresh water, or dirty bowls). To help prevent dehydration, you should provide clean water at all times and change it frequently to ensure freshness. It's important to wash bowls every day to prevent bacteria from forming.
If you suspect your cat may be dehydrated, you should get her to the veterinarian immediately The vet needs to monitor her and possibly administer IV fluids. Common symptoms of dehydration include:
- vomiting and/or diarrhea
- lack of energy
- excessive and ongoing panting
- loss of appetite
- sunken, dry eyes
- dry and stick gums
- loss of skin elasticity

Truffle's favority pet fountain is the PetSafe® Drinkwell® Stainless 360 Multi-Pet Fountain |
We received the PetSafe® Drinkwell® Stainless 360 Multi-Pet Fountain to review during Pet Hydration Month. The Drinkwell 360™ fountain has the option of multiple streams (interchangeable spout rings) with adjustable flow settings. It's made of stainless steel and it circular to allow pets to drink from any angle and is perfect for multiple pet households. This fountain is a little larger than some of the other fountains, but we really like it. The 360 fountain has two filters: a carbon filter (The filter contains granulated carbon for extended filtration and the duo density polyester pad captures debris) and a foam pre-filter ( trap any large debris and hair in the water, before they reach the pump, providing cleaner water to your pet. The foam filters help keep the pump cleaner in between cleanings and maintain the fountain's flow rate). Filters should be changed about every two weeks, depending on the number of pets in the household and its use.

We'd love to win this fountain! We are big fountain fans.
ReplyDeleteWe have a small fountain but it's made of plastic which is a pain to clean (hard water). We've been looking into upgrading to a ceramic or stainless steel version soon.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea cats need so much water. I know they get dehydrated easily – one of the reasons Bear and Ellie get wet food treats. We got a fountain to try too – but we haven’t gotten to it yet. I love that these are stainless steel ... Bear gets acne and so plastic bowls are a no-no for him.
ReplyDeleteBeen looking into getting a water fountain for my fur baby. Would love to win!
ReplyDeleteDon't own a pet fountain. Would love to have one for my kitty.
ReplyDeleteWe have the plastic 360 but it's old and we've already replaced the motor once. Did I mention one of the other parts is broken too? It still works but we've love to win a new one.
ReplyDeleteWe think this is an awesome fountain!!
ReplyDeleteThey don't now that I have moved, but I want a new one so bad they miss it!
ReplyDeleteWe love fountains here too and that sure looks like a nice one! Thanks for the cool giveaway!
ReplyDeleteWe have a stainless teardrop one. This one looks great.
ReplyDeleteWe've tried a few but this one looks interesting
ReplyDeleteWe have a small fountain, but really could use a bigger, better one. I have three Treeing Walker Coonhounds and three cats (all rescues). They currently share water so I have to constantly change the water so the cats don't have to drink the dog slobber (my dogs are very messy drinkers - fortunately they do most of their drinking from two large water bowls I keep on the deck just outside the door). My favorite style - and dream fountain - is the PetSafe Pagoda fountain (in blue). It would be perfect in my main bathroom, since it would add to the "spa" feeling I'm going for in that room. The cats also have one of their litter boxes in that bathroom, so it would be good to have a fountain, as long as I don't have it too close to the litter box. (Oh, and there is no place to enter my email address on the second entry, so I'll give it to you here - urdchan@gmail.com)
ReplyDeletewe do not have one i would love one
ReplyDeleteI think it's great that you are bringing attention to the amount of water that is required by cats, and how it can prevent disease. So important!
ReplyDeleteGreat information for both cat and dog owners alike. Water is essential to life and such an important thing to keep in the forefront of your mind, especially during the summer. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWe've had a fountain for our cats for about a year and half now, and they love it! Our dog likes it too, and I've been thinking about getting a second fountain for downstairs. This would be perfect. Thanks for the great information! :)
ReplyDeleteWe celebrated Pet Hydration Month with our new Pagoda fountain. We just love it! Fresh water is just so important for kitties.
ReplyDeleteMy dogs love using the fountain at the park. I think they would love this at their home.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous fountain! We have a catit flower fountain here and it's brilliant, but we really like this one you're sharing, we'll have to see if it's available in the UK.
ReplyDeleteBig hugs
Basil & Co xox
We love our PetSafe fountain! Such an easy way to ensure a supply of water to our pets and to keep them hydrated.
ReplyDeleteAwesome post! I don't have cats, but I use cat fountains for my small dogs. It seems to encourage them to drink more, plus I like how they look.
ReplyDeleteSo important for our kitties to get enough water! Good luck to everyone who entered!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a great fountain for both cats & dogs! I am forever filling bowls for the Lapdogs.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea. One of my cats mostly drinks from a dripping faucet which we are about to get fixed--she just likes that better than a bowl which she hardly touches, so this could be the perfect thing for her. Hope I win!
ReplyDeleteWe have a pet fountain and love it! It definitely helps to encourage us to drink more. Eating a 100% wet food diet also helps keep us hydrated! Thanks for these great tips!
ReplyDeleteI am a scientist, so I really liked the Venn diagram showing how alike cats and dogs are. I always check my dog's nose from time to time. a wet nose means its all good!
ReplyDeleteWe don't have a fountain, but I think my cat and dogs would enjoy one. My cat has dry skin, which always makes me wonder if he is getting enough water.
ReplyDeleteI love those fountains and wish I had place in my apt for one, but hydration is number one on my list in the summer as my biggest fear is Layla becoming dehydrated so I make sure whenever we are out and about I have a bottle with me plus when in the park there is a bowl there for her all the time and of course we sit in the shade, thanks for reminding everyone about this.
ReplyDeleteI never used a pet fountain however it would be great to have one my cats like to drink out of the sink.
ReplyDeleteWe don't currently have a pet fountain but would love to try one, especially for my cat who doesn't have interest in water so I have to add a lot to his food.

ReplyDeleteFrom what I read cats do not have natural inclination to drinking as wild cats apparently get their "water" from their fresh prey? That's all I know about that. Cookie seems to mostly drink what she needs; when I feel I should convince her to drink more I offer raw goats milk.
ReplyDeleteI've read the same thing. This is one reason it's important to feed cats wet food so they can get additional water. I love that my girls like to drink from the fountains.
DeleteI hadn't heard about Pet Hydration Month and will need to check it out. The group I volunteer has a blog. I post pet calendar date info to it.
ReplyDeleteWe bought a fountain for our first cat after she had an urinary infection. Both she and our dog enjoyed drinking from the fountain. When she died, we put the fountain in storage and have yet to take it out. However, we do try to be vigilant about water intake. We add water and/or broth to pet meals. Maybe when we move into our new place, we'll try a fountain again. Our home has grown to have three cats and our dog.
This is an interesting post - I learned a lot from the diagram, who knew! Okay, so kitties need lots of water, just like dogs - and who doesn't love fresh, cold water? Will share with our readers!
ReplyDeleteWe have this fountain and love it. Best fountain ever, especially as it is quiet. We'd love to have a second one for the second floor. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy
ReplyDeleteWe do not currently have a fountain, but I've been thinking about getting one. I have 3 dogs that drink a lot of water.
ReplyDeleteMy cats are very good at drinking water, but I do worry that Ruby (our dog) is not drinking enough water. I would love to win this fountain and see if it would encourage her to drink more water
ReplyDeleteI don't own a cat, but I think pet fountains are very cool, especially since they filter the water. I don't think my dogs really drink enough water since when my mom owned them, she actually restricted their water so they wouldn't pee so much!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, they are ADORABLE in every picture!! Second, hydration = so important. Cats and dogs need to drink more water!
ReplyDeleteYou two are so cute drinking from your fountain! We have the Sedona pet fountain from PetSafe and my kitties love it. This one looks really nice too. I'm sure that Manna and Dexter wouldn't mind having a fountain like yours. :)
ReplyDelete-Purrs from your friends at www.PlayfulKitty.net
This is a very important topic! Love the fountain!
ReplyDeleteWe have a bottle water bowl but would love a fountain.
ReplyDeleteI have a couple of fountains, one stainless. I love those. This is my favorite because with multiple pet cats they need to be able to approach it from all sides. I mean little sis can be a B--- and bite her brother's ear if he gets in her way of eating or drinking!
ReplyDeleteFountains are good because we have had a bout with UTI's
I'm so bummed i don't own a water fountain ! But I am looking forward to own one soon for my kittens!
ReplyDeleteMy cats do't use one yet, but I'm interested in purchasing one.
ReplyDeleteMy pets love fountains!! We had this fountain before but it was lost during our move. I know they would love to have it back!!
ReplyDeleteMr. N has used them before but we don't have one currently.
ReplyDeleteWe don't have a fountain but would love one. One of my cats has me trained to run the bathroom sink for him 2 times a day and I'm pretty sure that's the only water he drinks.
ReplyDeleteSince our move, the cats have been drinking from bowls. They all prefer running water and a new fountain would be the answer. I have been looking at the stainless steel fountains for awhile.
