Brulee with the Cooking with Cats Coloring Book |
Mom Paula recently retired and besides cleaning up the house and keeping our blog up-to-date, she finds she needs something to do to relax her. We've heard about adult coloring books and were excited to receive this new coloring book from Jess Erskine. Cooking with Cats: A curious Combo of Cats, Cupcakes & Colors was sent us for our review. Since this is an item for humans, we're going to turn our review over to Mom Paula.

Graphics from Jess Erskine and Rolling Donut Press |
Cooking with Cats is a unique and fun addition to the current coloring book market. This entertaining collection by artist Jess Erskine presents 25 original illustrations of cats cooking, playing, sleeping, and relaxing in the kitchen. The designs are a mixture of detail and simplicity to keep both experienced and new colorists happy and relaxed.

Brulee thinks this graphic resembles her Persian frown but isn't quite sure about being in a hamburger |
All 25 illustrations are original, high-resolution images (NOT clip art or re-prints) with smooth, clean, crisp lines. Cooking with Cats is printed at the same facilities that print the best-selling coloring books on Amazon, using quality 60# paper, which is perfect for colored pencils and pens. To prevent any bleed-through, all images are printed on one side of the paper only, which also means they are easy to clip and frame.

Truffle supervising Mom Paula coloring |
I am not very patient when it comes to crafts as I've gotten older. My sister gave me an adult coloring book for my birthday and I haven't colored anything yet. However, when I received this coloring book, the images were so cute and not as detailed as some of the adult coloring books, so I found myself relaxing as I began expanding my creativity by coloring again. I love the whimsical images with some of my favorite foods. This coloring book would also make a wonderful gift for your favorite child.

ReplyDeleteSuch a cute coloring book! Not as cute as the girl's modeling it though. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd our favorite hobby is sleeping of course!
DeleteMy favorite hobby that relaxes me is dancing :-) Entered the giveway and now paws crossed that I get a coloring book to destress me further!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing to do to relax is to read. I read every night before I sleep to help calm my mind. I love to color, too. I'm happy to hear this book isn't as detailed as some of the others - too many details are difficult for me to see well enough to color.
ReplyDeleteThe mom hasn't gotten into the coloring craze yet, but this sounds like a fun and relaxing thing to do.
ReplyDeleteBaking helps me relax
ReplyDeleteAdult coloring books are such a big craze, I see them everywhere! Why should kids have all the fun, right? I like the theme of this one, the pictures are adorable.
ReplyDeleteLove & Biscuits,
Dogs Luv Us and We Luv Them
Does napping count? Because that's my favorite hobby lol :D
ReplyDeleteLol, cooking with cats sounds exactly like the coloring book describes! 😂 Too fun!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute idea for a coloring book! Our mom could really use this to relax.
ReplyDeleteI like that this book is not as detailed, I am not that great at coloring :) I usually crochet to relax.
ReplyDeleteI want that book!! I used to love colouring as a kid and I was very good at it too - always stayed within the lines. I do love to eat (not cook!) and I love cats. A few years ago my niece bought me a mindfulness colouring book and I must admit I thoroughly enjoyed forcing myself to focus on the task at hand. Ask me when the last time I used it was!! Now that you reminded me I think I'll take it out again. I need something to get me off this computer.
ReplyDeleteListening to music is my favortie relaxing hobby
ReplyDeleteThat's so cute! Wouldn't it be cool if they could figure out a way to let the cats do the coloring!?
ReplyDeleteI have seen these colouring books in store and thought how cool is this! Honestly, I would find it so relaxing to sit down and colour in these books. I entered your giveaway, so happy it's open to Canadians!
ReplyDeleteSeveral months back, my husband and I tried our hand at the adult coloring craze. We found it relaxing and even bought bigger packs of coloring pencils to accommodate our desire for lots of colors. My favorite pages to color are cats!
ReplyDeleteDat's really cool. Our favorite hobby is sleepin'. Bit mommy's is purrobably playin' da piano and singin'. Altho' she does really luv drawin', paintin' and colorin' too. big hugs
ReplyDeleteLuv ya'

ReplyDeleteHow cute! The head peep hasn't been able to get into the coloring craze, but the theme of this book is just adorable!
ReplyDeleteThis is one of the cutest cat coloring books I've seen.

This sounds like so much fun! Mom hates cooking but would love to color so this is right up her alley! Dolly and Sandra
ReplyDeleteThe illustrations are great! I like to watch TV to relax, but I usually fall asleep before the show is over.
ReplyDeleteTW relaxes by taking walks and food shopping. She can do them both together and get out of the house and away from the computer.
ReplyDeleteI saw this one. What a lot of fun and it did make us laugh!
ReplyDeleteBoy, I have got to hand it to Jess Erskin - coloring books are really big with adults (for a number of good reasons, mostly to help us exercise our brains differently) and the concept of cooking with cats is an awesome idea. Not only that, it's wonderfully executed in her designs! Great review Paula and so nice to hear from you :) (oh my the kitties look so gorgeous - as always)!!
ReplyDeleteOMG I love it, I really need to invest in a coloring in book for myself one of these days.
ReplyDeleteA coloring book of cats is a great thing fer a little girl Bein...
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable coloring book! And I love your review. I agree about some adult coloring books. I've tried a few designs and sometimes I get frustrated by the intricate patterns and wonder how I'm helping myself. LOL! And then I'll try to pull the finished page out just to be frustrated again, so it's nice that these pages are easy to clip out.
ReplyDeleteI have two favorite hobbies: cooking and playing with my stamp collection. I also enjoy coloring when I have time, and this book looks like so much fun! Some of the more intricate designs in other books become frustrating because they just take so long to complete.
ReplyDeleteMom Peggy has some adult coloring books but they are too detailed. We think this one would be great as it's simpler and would relax her. Too much detail stresses her! MOL
ReplyDeleteThis is one of the cutest reviews you have done! Great job!
Those illustrations look beautiful. I wish I was a kid. Maybe I'll just grab it anyway :-)
ReplyDeleteThat's very cool and creative too!
ReplyDeleteI saw this on Facebook and would absolutely LOVE to win it for my daughter (actually for me. LOL)
ReplyDeleteWe aren't entering because we reviewed it back in July (and had a give-away) but we wanted to vouch for how totally ADORABLE it is! catchatwithcarenandcody
ReplyDeleteSo cute!!
ReplyDeleteThat coloring book looks pretty cute! Mom loves to color, but she hasn't yet bought a color booking for herself even though she keeps finding ones she'd like to have. She has bought them for her friend and her goddaughters. -Valentine (& Mom) of Noir Kitty Mews
ReplyDeleteWhat a super cute coloring book! I've gotten into adult coloring in the past but haven't had time for it as of late. It is a relaxing and fun activity. I need to pick it back up!
ReplyDeleteColoring and reading help relax me.
ReplyDeletePAinting, drawing, and coloring!
ReplyDelete"What is your favorite hobby that helps relax you?" Does watching DVDs of excellent TV shows count as a hobby?
