Truffle and Brulee investigate the Go Fish Puzzle

We've shared some of the Jackson Galaxy™ Collection of cat products from Petmate® in an earlier blog post this past summer. We were really impressed with the quality of the products and the interest Truffle and Brulee showed in them. Petmate reached out to us about reviewing some additional products from this collection.

Go Fish Cat Toy

The Go Fish! Cat Toy is a self-activating toy for your cat to enjoy all day long. This innovative cat toy is designed to satisfy your cat's hunting instincts and keep her engaged. 

Truffle introduced the Go Fish! Slow Feeder and Puzzle Toy from Petmate®

This toy was very easy to assembly. The box contains the blue base and thirteen (13) round fish tails (made of a rubbery material). All you need to do is to place the round fish tail ends into the openings and push down while twisting to pop them into place. It took Mom Paula a little longer to twist the fish tails into the base because of her longer fingernails, but it was easy to assemble. The next step was to place treats or food around the base of the puzzle and in between the fish tail ends. If you have a cat who eats too fast, this would be an ideal way to put the kibble down to slow her down. Mom Paula chose to place treats in the puzzle toy because we are very treat motivated and she believes we need more stimulating play.

Truffle and Brulee were already curious about the Go Fish! Cat Toy before treats were even placed on it. Mom Paula made sure to put treats around the outside bowl and throughout the fish tails. The video below show the process Truffle and Brulee used to get to the treats. Truffle figured it out first and was already eating half the treats before Brulee finally figured it out. The video is approximately 3 minutes in length and was edited for time. It probably took about 10 minutes for both girls to figure it out and it kept them entertained for quite a while. 

Kitty Zip Mat

The Kitty Zip Mat is a brand new product in the Jackson Galaxy™ Collection. It's a comfortable and cozy pet hut that is designed to keep cats warm and helps trap unwanted hair in the plush fibers. Cats love hiding, playing, and lounging and the Kitty Zip Mat is designed as both a plush mat to relax on or a soft, wrap-around tunnel where she can cuddle.

The Kitty Zip Mat converts from a mat to a tunnel with the use of a strong zipper. The mat can be used for play or rest. Truffle is the one who appears to enjoy the Kitty Zip Mat. The only problem I had is getting the tunnel to stay upright without leaning it against something. I've found that if I make sure the zipper is on the bottom on the floor, the tunnel tends to maintain its shape without collapsing. I'm sure with more use and with time, there won't be a problem. Truffle must have known I was going to post this review today because last night, she crawled in it and rested for about an hour. I'm sure she'll enjoy it more as the weather turns cooler. Brulee doesn't really like enclosed places, so she hasn't shown much interest in the tunnel.

Truffle plays on the Kitty Zip Mat

The Kitty Zip Mat is unique in that it opens up into a comfortable and plush mat by unzipping the zipper. This mat is so soft and comfortable that Mom Paula wishes there was one large enough for her to rest on. There is a self-warming Mylar layer to make the mat warm and cozy. The mat is 36" x 22" so most cats could rest comfortably or play on the mat. Truffle is about 7.5 pounds and the video below shows how much she enjoyed playing on the mat. 

We were pleased with both the Go Fish! and the Kitty Zip Mat.
