12 Days of Catmas - Kruuse®

Find a Special Place for a Get Away

Does your cat ever disappear when there is a lot happening in your home? Does your cat need a special place to find solitude?

Believe it or not, cats are not loners! There are many myths out there that cats don't like to be around people and prefer to be alone. Cats need the contact with their humans as much as dogs, but they like to find a quiet place to regroup. How many times have you noticed your cat isn't in the room with you anymore and you search all over the house to find them? I'm constantly amazed at the number of hiding places Truffle and Brulee can find for some alone time. They also like to bury themselves under the covers even when they are in the room with me. I've tried to find covered cat beds/dens where the girls would go and stay within my eyesight and have been unsuccessful until now.

Brulee inside KRUUSE Catrine™ Cat Den

We've shared previous products from KRUUSE in the past, especially products from Catrine™. I was very interested to see how the girls would react to the Catrine™ Cat Den. I've purchased and tried other covered pet beds in the past and the girls really weren't interested. However, the story was different with the Catrine Cat Den. The Cat Den arrived flattened in a plastic bag. There were two pieces - the square base to put inside and the den. Once I put it on the floor, Truffle immediately climbed inside. While she was inside, Brulee also wanted to go inside. The den was large enough for both girls (remember, they only weigh 8 - 8.5 lb), but I wasn't sure how they would react to being enclosed together, but Truffle decided to exit as Brulee entered.

The Catrine Cat Den is a cozy enclosed hideaway that is made of soft suede that adds to the decor of any home. The are two sizes of the den - 15 in x 15 in and 17 in x 17 in. It's also machine washable. It is only available in black, but we love it because it shows off our silver and white fur so well.

Brulee didn't stay in the den too long because she prefers to rest in higher locations that are a little more in the open. Truffle loves this cat den. Mom Paula will be watching TV and Truffle will climb into the cat den where she can keep an eye on Mom Paula, but also feel comfortable and safe in her own little get away in the middle of the room. We're impressed with the cat den because it's really sturdy and doesn't flatten like a lot of enclosed cat beds we've tried.

KRUUSE is known for their equipment for veterinarians, but they have a pet line that includes products from Buster®, Catrine™, and KONG®. We've been impressed with the products we've tried from these companies and encourage you to try them when you see them in the stores.

  2. Our cat doesn't hide anymore, but for years he would whenever we had company. One of his favorite places was the pantry, and I have no idea where the others one were. He always came out for dinner though :)

  3. Well, our cats have access to the second floor of our house - and the beds there. However, my Kotoha sometimes slips under the couch in our TV room and I'd much rather her have her hidey nap in something like this!

  4. I think Carmine would really love this! He loves to go into his squishy kitty cube when he needs a little time to himself.

  5. Paisley likes to hang out in the spare bedroom, where it's usually pretty quiet. Webster enjoys being out with everyone more, but then he'll disappear to the sun room and the top of the cat tree. Or if it's cooler out, he'll go into the little cat house.

  11. Love the idea.... but I'm not quite sure my 3 extra-large cats would fit even in the bigger box. (?)
They all 3 weigh above 15 pounds, with two of them taller than 'normal'-sized cats.

  16. We won one of these from you, and we love it. It is Cooper Murphy's go-to spot, but Mau and C.J. and Astrid all enjoy it as well. We weren't going to enter, but then Mom thought if we won, we could gift it to our local shelter. Hope that's okay.
