12 Days of Catmas - Sure Petcare

Keep Food Fresh with Style

Everyone loves to eat, especially around the holidays. Humans are very careful to keep food sealed until ready to eat in order to maintain freshness, health, and taste. We believe our cat food should receive the same courtesy so we can enjoy our food not only during the holidays, but year round.

We know many of our cat and dog friends eat a variety of food: raw, kibble, or wet. We eat a mixture of kibble and wet. The biggest problem we have is that we are "nibblers" of our food. We eat a little bit and come back later and eat a little bit more. Mom Paula was a little concerned about the way we eat our wet food because we don't eat it in one sitting and she ends up throwing a lot of it away because it dries out or she fears it will go bad. Brulee is also a very finicky eater when it comes to wet food, so it's important she isn't "turned off" by the food sitting in her dish. She doesn't put out a lot of our kibble, but we nibble on it all day and we'd like to keep it fresh and crunchy, not stale. Sure Petcare® has a solution for keeping food fresher, especially for those of us who are nibblers.

The SureFeed® Sealed Pet Bowl is one solution that can help keep our food fresh so we will eat appropriately. This bowl is designed with a motion sensor that opens the lid when we get close to it. When we finish nibbling and walk away, the lid closes and seals in the freshness. This amazing technology comes completely assembled out of the box and all Mom Paula had to do was add 4 C batteries (not included) to operate it. The Sealed Pet Bowl comes with a gray bowl and additional colors (green, pink, blue) and also has a split bowl available.

Mom Paula wasn't quite sure how we'd react to the movement of the flap because we don't like change, especially where we eat. There is a detailed instruction manual on the training-mode setting that helps pets get used to the movement of the flap. Mom Paula cheated a little bit and put some of our favorite treats directly in the bowl and watched to see how we'd react. When we initially approached the bowl and the flap opened, there was only a slight hesitation from us before we began eating from the bowl. The movement was smooth and quiet.

We think this is a great bowl for pet that "nibble" on their food because the food stays fresher longs. Mom Paula says it also helps to "lock away" the smells of some of our wet food and it can also keep bugs away. SureFeed also has a Microchip Pet Feeder available that is designed for multi-pet homes when individual pets may be on a different diet. We didn't get one of these because we don't currently have a microchip and we eat the same food. We encourage you to investigate the Microchip Pet Feeder if you have a need to feed different pets a different diet.

  1. My human is thinking of getting one of these with the microchip function for Binga - that way Binga would not have to eat in the kennel like she does now because some kitty (named B-O-O-D-I-E) would steal her food otherwise.

  2. We wonder if this would have helped when Chawkie had to have special vet foods ... for now, everyone has their own bowls.

  3. Sophie is a big time nibbler and this would be great for her wet food! She's the only one of our cats who really takes her time eating.

  12. We have three cats. My oldest cat, Moko, has become more picky about what she will eat. She has hyperthyroidism and is on medication for that. It's been up and down with her, so I do what I can to get her to eat. While the other two, younger cats mostly eat kibble, Moko will only eat canned food. I've tried healthier brands, but she's insistent on eating Friskies, and only a few flavors from them. However, one of the other two cats is always trying to eat her food, and too often, even when the other cat doesn't eat it, Moko doesn't eat it quickly enough to keep it from drying out in the bowl. I'd love this for her!

  14. that is super cute and ideal for a multi-cat household. You made me laugh when you said "ideal for pets who nibble on their food" ummmm...that would NOT be Cody, he inhales his food, hence that wouldn't work for us.......BUT...we think it would DEFINITELY work for kitties that nibble their food as you said or a multi kitty household! Good luck to all who enter!

  17. My cats eat twice a day. This would be great though because we're in such a small space, it would keep the smell of the cat food from permeating the room the whole day!
