The largest part of the holiday season is over with two more major days of celebrating to come. We've read all over social media about humans having difficulty managing the stress during this time of the year, but what about our pets?

We are so excited to share our favorite pieces of furniture we received for the holidays! We've always had the traditional cat trees in our home, but Mom Paula wants something more stylish and modern, while we want something functional and comfortable.

Catmas Wishes - Getting That Perfect Photo

It's the holiday season and people all over the world are posting photos of their furry family members on social media and sending holiday cards with their cats or dogs featured! I'm always amazed how well some of these photographs turn out, especially with cats! I can easily take 100 photos and only have one that will be clear with the girls facing the camera. Do you ever have this problem? How do you get those photos that can be shared around the world and kept for those precious memories?

I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a professional photographer. There are times my photos turn out beautifully and others where they just aren't quite right. Take the photo above - It's a cute photo of the girls, but the only thing really in focus in the box and the Cuddle Clones® Plush Clone Brulee on the bottom left. What were some thing I could have done differently?

Catmas Wishes - Eating Neatly and Resting Comfortably: Messy Cats™

Do you have a messy cat, especially when she eats? We definitely do. Truffle is usually pretty neat when she eats because she bites into her food, but Brulee picks up her food with her tongue and tends to push her food on the floor. We've used mats in the past, but sometimes Brulee won't get on the mat to eat her food. We've found something that works for us.

Good morning! We've been busy taking care of Mom Paula after her knee surgery. We're happy to report that she is progressing well. We've stayed near her and even slept on her during her recuperation.

There are so many bowls to choose from for our feline friends. There are bowls of bright colors and designs, elevated bowls, whisker stress free bowls, and bowls that are made of plastic, glass, ceramic, and stainless steel. How does the modern cat owner choose the best bowl for her fabulous feline?

We've tried almost type of every bowl out there and prefer stainless steel that has a wider rim to help us avoid whisker stress. 

Choosing a Pet Sitter

It's the holiday season which usually means you will travel to visit family and friends. There are more people who are beginning to take their cats with them when they travel, but what do you do if your cats must remain home alone? Unfortunately, many people believe that cats can fend for themselves and don't need anyone to watch them. What happens if your cat becomes ill, the heat/AC malfunctions, she needs to be groomed, or given medication?

We hope everyone is staying warm and dry during this cold wave that's hit the South. Our friends about an hour up the road are getting snow today. We're scheduled to get rain with some possible sleet. We're staying indoors where it's warm and dry.

Catmas Wishes - Feeding Finicky Felines

Anyone who's been owned by a feline knows how finicky cats can be at times. Some cats only like a certain flavor while others are only happy with a particular texture. Adding to this finickiness are cats with specific dietary requirements. What is a cat owner to do?

We believe if you look up the word "finicky" in the dictionary, you'll see a photo of a cat! We're sure most people who are owned by felines have experience with their feline companion turning up her nose at food she's given. Some experts believe finicky eaters are made (by humans), not born. Humans tend to try and please their fur children and sometimes create picky food critics.

Brrrrrrr! It's cold outside! We know many of our friends live in climates where they have very cold weather in the fall and winter, but here in the South, we think it's cold if it gets below 60 degrees. It's been in the 30s in the mornings and up to the 50s during the day. We're staying inside beside Mom Paula as she sips on hot chocolate and watches the Hallmark channel.

Stomach Upset in Cats

Brulee went back to the vet yesterday for an upset tummy. She appears to be okay, but she is on the "watch list" with Mom Paula for a few days. What causes an upset stomach? How can you treat your cat when it happens?

Truffle and Brulee's Visit to the Vet

It's that time of the year again and both of us took a trip to the vet last Friday for our six-month Wellness checkup.

The day began like any other normal day with Truffle and Brulee jumping on the bed to greet Mom Paula as she woke up and to get their morning treats. Mom Paula stayed in the bed a little longer that morning...

Happy Halloween!

It's that time of the year when all of the little humans travel throughout the neighborhood, ringing doorbells, and yelling "trick or treat." We kitties don't like all of this noise and visitors at our door, so we  have a little trick or treating inside our house by ourselves. We also don't like wearing costumes, clothing, or collars, so we depend on graphic design for our costumes. Thanks to the creative talents of Ann from Zoolatry, we are enjoying Halloween today. We were featured on Zoolatry on October 5.

Brulee and Truffle are royalty and one could see them saying, "let them eat cake."

The first thing Mom Ann thought about when she began designing our Halloween costumes was about how we resemble royal kitties because of our pedigree, so we made us princesses.

If you're like Mom Paula, you're already singing the little tune of "just the two of us..." As most of you know, we are half sisters and only 12 weeks apart in age. Truffle came to live with me on September 4, 2011 and Brulee joined us on November 5, 2011.

Years ago when Sweet Praline lived with us, we began participating in Tock-Tober in honor of Derby, The Sassy Cat from Just Ducky. Derby is no longer with us, but we love to continue this tradition of showing our tocks!

Clean Tracks with Dr. Elsey's #ChewyInfluencer

One of the things people rarely talk about when getting cats may be the litter box. There are debates about which type of box is better for cats and there are decisions to make about the type of litter to purchase. One usually doesn't think about litter being tracked throughout the house.

We've gone through several types of litter boxes and litter since Truffle and Brulee came to live with me seven years ago. The first litter I used was the type the girls used as kittens at their first home. I stuck with this litter for a few years until the company changed the formula and the litter wouldn't clump as well and didn't control odor. I tried a few other brands and finally settled on Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat Ultra Clumping Litter because the girls seemed to like this litter more than others. I was thrilled when we were given the opportunity to review a new product from Dr. Elsey's this month from Chewy.com as part of the Chewy Influencer program.

It's Shedding Season Again!

It's that time of the year when cats tend to shed their coats before the full Winter coat comes in and leave a trail of fur throughout the house. We can always tell when it's time to "drop our coat" when Mom Paula comes home and it looks like a cotton field down the hallway. We know all cats shed, but can you imagine a house with two Persian Cats will full coats who shed all the time?!? Cats also like to groom themselves and one of the dreaded side effects can be a hairball! There are some things you can do to help prevent and decrease the occurrence of hairballs.

Scratching and Hiding in Style - Catit®

There are so many scratchers, climbers, and beds available for cats now. The challenge is finding something that the cats will use and that the humans feel comfortable placing in major parts of the home. We tend to like items that are a little more modern and unique and we've found something we think you'll love!

We've reviewed several products from Catit® in the past and we've always loved the style, comfort, and functionality of the furniture. The Vesper™ Design line is one of our favorites and the new Vesper Minou is sure to please the cats in your life.
