Truffle introducing the PetSafe® Six Meal Feeder |
PetSafe® has a solution for the busy pet parent who needs to provide food for their fur child during the day while she is at work or traveling on the weekend. The PetSafe® Six Meal Feeder is a possible solution for providing those smaller meals throughout the day or for a weekend. This automatic feeder is battery-operated (4 D batteries, not included) and uses a digital clock to program six pre-portioned meals per fill with each tray slot holding up to 1 cup of dry or semi-moist food (not appropriate for wet food). You can set the timer for six small meals in one day, two meal a day for up to 3 days, or one large meal every day for six days.

Brulee is curious about the PetSafe® Six Meal Feeder |
The Six Meal Feeder was very easy to assemble! There are only 4 main components (lid, tray carousel, feeder base, and the removable bowl). The battery compartment didn't require a screwdriver to open it (like many products we've reviewed in the past), so the batteries were easily inserted within seconds. The tray carousel was already inside the feeder base and the lid was already attached. The only component I had to attach was the bowl, which was easy. To open, turn the lid counter-clockwise and lift it up. I poured about 1/4 cup of dry kibble in each section for the girls. They don't eat all of their food in one sitting, so I like the idea I can spread out the meals over the day. I also discovered they don't eat as much as I thought they did, so I was able to reduce the amount of food per feeding. The feeder uses a digital clock to program the meals.

Brulee eating from the PetSafe® Six Meal Feeder |
There is a button on the Six Meal Feeder where you can immediately dispense food and it won't interfere with scheduled feedings. There is a Sleep Mode button that can be used if you need to stop the feeder and it won't interfere with programmed meals. I found this feeder very easy to use and the girls didn't hesitate eating from the bowl. I like the fact that the feeder is battery operated because I can find any location to place it without needing to be close to an electrical outlet. The disadvantage would be the need to replace the batteries, but the literature states the estimated battery life is 9 months. The bowl and tray carousel are removable and dishwasher safe. There is a low-battery indicator so you can change the batteries before they fail.

Truffle eating from the PetSafe® Six Meal Feeder |
The PetSafe Six Meal Feeder is designed for cats and small dogs. The carousel is sealed tight with the lid, so the dry or semi-moist food stays fresher longer. The digital clock allows you to set scheduled feeding time by an actual time (AM and PM) and the LCD is easy to read. The feedings were on time, every time! The motor is very quiet when the carousal rotates and the only sound you really hear is the food falling into the bowl.
I was very impressed with this feeder and am considering using it to dispense some of the girls' semi-soft or hard treats at different times during the day, especially if I'm not at home.
The PetSafe Six Meal Feeder can be purchased on the PetSafe Website and is priced at $89.99.

my cat would love this. he wants fresh food everyday
ReplyDeleteThis is a great feeder with quality construction and easy to use. We are using it with Sawyer for his kitten food, but we will soon be transferring regular food to it. We won't enter as we have one. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer
ReplyDeleteWe feed twice a day, but this would be great for when I get stuck late at work
ReplyDeleteSmart idea for dry food eaters!
ReplyDeleteMy babies eat 2 times a day. This is a really neat feeder and I know my babies would really like it.
ReplyDeleteWe feed our dog twice a day.
ReplyDeleteNow if it would dispense food when Binga pawed at it (and only Binga), we'd want one! Because otherwise, Boodie would just camp out in front of it and eat all the food.
ReplyDeleteI feed my dog twice a day.
ReplyDeleteWe have three dogs and three cats. The dogs all eat basically twice a day, although I keep their bowls filled. Two of the cats also have bowls filled and as long as they don't overeat, are allowed to eat whenever they want. My oldest cat, though, needs several smaller meals throughout the day. This might be just what we need for her.
ReplyDeleteI'd love this for my cats! We feed our 3 cats twice a day but there are times I have to be away for long periods so I leave extra food bowls out in case I can't get home to feed them so having this would make me feel less stressed about leaving them and worry free because I know they would be getting their scheduled feedings.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter has 3 cats that eat different amounts. This would be great while she is working.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance.
I feed my dog and cat at least twice a day.
ReplyDeleteThose always seem pretty interesting!
ReplyDeleteWe feed our pets twice a day
ReplyDeleteMorning and night right now. This would be perfect for when we're gone over a weekend.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic product. Perhaps this is our answer for when we’re gone for the day!
ReplyDeleteThere is a lot of chatter about cats and small meals right now. A vet developed a feeder toy along those lines so I can see the sense in dispensing small meals for a cat but ours graze moderately anyway.
ReplyDeleteOne cat who WOULD benefit fro this is Harvey on his kidney diet. Small meals benefit him a lot. He now gets fed smaller meals more often.
Carmine and Lita get wet food several times a day. They weren't getting any kibble, but since we are struggling so much to get Lita to eat, we have been giving her somme kitten chow. I would use the feeder to give her snacks of the kitten chow throughout the day.
ReplyDeleteWow, this is a great idea! Our cats eat wet food, so unfortunately we wouldn't be able to use this. But perhaps for our small dog it would be great! I also like that it's battery operated so you can put it anywhere.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I especially like this for a senior cat or dog who may need frequent meals. Ruby is so silly about eating cat food that we would surely need separate feeders both Ruby (dog) and Rosie (kitty)
ReplyDeleteThis definitely looks like a great product. Many pets will wolf down all the food at once if you free feed, and leave it all out at once. Looks like a great way to slow things down. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLove & Biscuits,
Dogs Luv Us and We Luv Them
I definitely need this feeder! On nights I work late I won't have to worry about my girls being hungry. This is a great review - thanks for telling us about it.
ReplyDeleteSoldier tends to wolf down his food, so this feeder would be ideal for him. I could space out his meals and portion out smaller amounts throughout the day, keeping him from eating too much, too fast.
ReplyDeleteThis would be great for my brother Anderson. When it comes to eatin', he's like a feline vacuum, for sure. MOUSES!
ReplyDeleteThis is an interesting idea for those who feed dry -- something we don't do in our house.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very helpful product especially for busy pet parents. I like the fact that there is a timer to ration out food. If it was "paw"operated I know my cats would have emptied that food chamber out in an hour. LOL Nice giveaway. Will share.
ReplyDeleteHuh, that's a cool idea! I've never seen a feeder like that before. My cat is a grazer for sure, so I've never been able to feed her just 2 times a day. This may be an option, especially when we're out of town
ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliant idea although for us it would not work as Layla gets home cooked wet food, and she is not really food motivated so I free feed her and she eats as she pleases
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried a pet feeder, but this looks like a good one. With dogs, someone has to be home to let them out, so a feeder isn't really needed. Also, I feed a mixture of kibble and homemade food.
ReplyDeleteThis looks very clever; how do they deal with the oxidation issue?
ReplyDeleteMy belief would be it is less because less food is exposed at a time. Previously, my girls' food could stay out for long periods of time because I was working so hard and away from the house, so a large bowl was used. Now, I only have a small amount dispensed at a time and most is eaten before the next amount is dispensed. The food stays fresh because the storage is sealed. I hope this answers your question.
DeleteWell that's just the cats meow!! Great for doggies too I love it! Perfect for those who work long hours! I love that it is BPA free too!
ReplyDeleteI can see how pet parents that feed kibble might like this. Is the feeding tray made of plastic and is it removable so that it can be washed?
ReplyDeleteThe tray for this feeder is plastic and it is easily removed and can be washed.
DeleteThat's great!
DeleteThis is a very neat product! I just hope it doesn't encourage people to leave their pets alone for more than one day though. But otherwise I like it, I can't even remember to feed Dolly her lunch now that she's suppose to be fed 3 times a day! Sandra and Dolly
ReplyDeleteCat and dog eat twice a day - morning and evening. I'd use this for my dog since I only feed my cat wet food.
ReplyDeleteI feed my baby twice a day.
ReplyDeleteOur cats eat as they please. Our dogs however would eat until they explode so we only feed them once a day. Depending on how sealed the unit is, it would be a great way to feed our outside cats or if it holds enough, to feed our dogs. Would be very handy when we had to go out of town for a day or two.
ReplyDeleteWe feed our dog 3 times a day.
ReplyDeleteWe feed ate cats twice a day, Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI have two cats and I give them a scoop of dry food in the morning and another at night, plus a small amount of moist food in the late afternoon. This would be great for those times that I'm making a trip for a day or two. Then I wouldn't need to find a pet sitter.
ReplyDeleteMy cat would need this when we go somewhere for a day or two. I wouldn't have to worry about him having fresh food.
ReplyDeleteI feed my pets twice a day. I would use this for those short trips we take.
ReplyDeleteI feed my cats twice a day. This would be perfect for nights when I'm out late and my fur babies don't want to wait for me to get home to for a late dinner! This is a genius product!
ReplyDeleteI leave a dish out for my cat all day to eat from, as that's what we did growing up. I like this idea a lot better, because she would be able to have fresh food when she eats. She eats twice a day regularly, so that's how we would set it.
ReplyDeleteOur daughter feeds her cat twice a day. The feeder would be helpful if she was away from home for a longer than usual day.

ReplyDeleteThey are fed twice a day!
ReplyDeleteTwice a day! I would love this for my grandma to make it easier for her.
ReplyDeleteI would use it for our new pug. My grandkids are learning pet responsibility and this would be a great addition.
ReplyDeleteI feed my cats wet and dry food. For their wet food I actually have the petsafe 5 feeder and the dry I have to put out throughout the day. I had a fur baby who had diabetes and I was able to get him into remission doing mini meals and using the petsafe feeder. This would be amazing for their dry food
ReplyDeleteWe usually feed 2-3 times a day my cat Jingles can eat though. I think sometimes she eats more than a dog
ReplyDeleteI feed our dog 4 small meals a day. This would make it so much easier
ReplyDeleteMy cats like to be fed a couple of times a day. They want the freshest food possible, right out of the bag.
ReplyDeleteI feed them 2x a day.
ReplyDeleteThis would be awesome to have..I feed my cat twice a day he is a growing boy...
ReplyDeleteI operate a shelter for elderly cats. I have 11 of them at the moment. I keep dry food down and I feed wet food whenever someone is hungry. Most of them can't eat dry food because they don't have teeth. (jozywails@gmail.com)
ReplyDeletelove to have this for my little guy feed him several times a day
ReplyDeleteI feed my dogs & my cats twice a day. This would be perfect for my kitties.
ReplyDeleteI feed my dogs and cats at least twice a day.
ReplyDeleteI could really use this for my cats because they don't know how to properly graze and they depend on me to feed them every few hours. This feeder would greatly help.
ReplyDeleteWe feed our dog twice a day and always find ourselves planning our days around that! We have to rush home from social events to keep our dog happy. This would be a great compromise for days that we can’t be home during feeding time.
ReplyDeleteI feed mine 3 times a day. This would be great for snacks.
ReplyDeleteI feed her twice a day not including snacks
ReplyDeleteI would use it when we go out of town
ReplyDeleteMy furbabies eat 3 times a day, but they would eat more if ty could. This would be great to have!!
ReplyDeleteThis would be great for Our cat SallyJane when I work long shifts at the nursing home
ReplyDeleteI feed my cat once a day. I would use this pet feeder when I take a shot trip and have to leave my cat at home.
ReplyDeleteI feed my small dog twice a day. I would love to be able to feed him about an hour before I get home from work so he could digest it before I get home and starts bouncing around the house!
ReplyDeletei feed my dog his daily allotment in 3 small meals throughout the day
ReplyDeleteI feed my dog 2 meals a day and I would use it to for portion control.
ReplyDeleteI feed my cat three times a day in small amounts. I would use this when I am at work or specnd the night away from home.
ReplyDeleteI feed our pets several times a day in small amounts and this would work perfectly.
ReplyDeleteWe fees out kitties 2 times a day. This would be perfect for them.
ReplyDeleteI feed my dogs twice a day..
ReplyDeleteMy dogs and cat are fed twice a day. This feeder would be great for my cat if we went out of town for a weekend. We have someone come in once a day if we leave, so she feeds him a double amount of food.
ReplyDeleteI feed the dogs once a day and the cats have food available all day.
ReplyDeleteI feed my girls twice a day. I could use the feeder to feed them when I'm gone all day.
ReplyDeleteTwice a day.
ReplyDeleteMy dogs eat whenever they want, which is usually when I'm in the kitchen. My cats eat whenever they're sitting next to the dish waiting for food.
ReplyDeleteThere is always food for are furbabies so they can eat when they want. Would love this. Thank you
ReplyDeleteThe get fed twice a day, but I think this would be great for pre programmed daily treats.
ReplyDeleteMy Boston terrier eats scraps and snacks during the day. I would donate this to a rescue if I won.
ReplyDeleteThis would be great for a daily midday snack. They get fed twice a day.
ReplyDeleteThis might just be perfect for an afternoon snack! They get fed morn & eve.
