Truffle has a lot of questions for Mom Paula |
Today is National Answer Your Cat's Questions Day. We shared some of the ways we communicate with our humans in a post during the 12 Days of Catmas holiday celebration and during one of our communication sessions with Coryelle Kramer. We definitely communicate through body language and our various meows. Today is set aside for our humans to try to be more aware of us on a deeper level and to try and notice when we are asking a question. Here are a few questions we have for Mom Paula.
Why can't we have treats all day long?

Brulee would eat her freeze-dried treats all day long |
Mom Paula: I love providing delicious treats to my girls. However, most commercially available cat treats are high in calories from fillers, carbohydrates, and fat which can cause a cat to be overweight. I know the girls would eat treats all day long, but they need a healthy diet with the bulk of nutrients coming from eating protein. I feel more comfortable giving the girls treats that are 100% protein and freeze-dried. I still limit how many treats they get each day to avoid them becoming overweight which can cause a lot of health problems.
Why do we have to go to the vet?

Mom Paula: My dearest girls - I want to keep you with me for as many years as possible. One way to do this is to take you to the vet at least twice a year for wellness checks which includes examinations, blood work, vaccinations, and discussions with the vet to keep you healthy. I also don't hesitate to take you to the vet when you are not feeling well because I want you to feel comfortable and healthy all the time. That's one reason we have a wellness plan with your vet and pet insurance - to help ensure you can get the medical care you need.
Why do you insist on using that metal comb on us?

Brulee tends to resist daily grooming |
These are just a few of the questions we wanted to share with you today. What questions would you want to ask your human?
those are good questions....and great pictures :)
ReplyDeleteI asked my human about our outside friends and maybe..could they come inside to visit? You know how that went!! - Tom
ReplyDeleteGood questions, and great answers ! Purrs
ReplyDeleteGood questions - I wondered bout da vet one myself!
ReplyDeleteGreat questions and terrific answers although I'm not sure you girls enjoyed the answers!
ReplyDeleteBrulee's face says it all in that last photo!
ReplyDeleteTreats are great but so is great cat dental check ups. Mostly because you want to keep your teeth good so you can keep that pretty smile.
ReplyDeletefollowed you on G+
ReplyDeleteLuckily for Mom, Giulietta enjoys getting brushed and combed most of the time. And as you know we don't go to the vet unless we are sick, as Dr. Neel comes here. You were very good at answering Truffle and Brulee's questions. Our big ? is: Why did we have to get a new baby brother? We don't think "he needed a good home" is a good enough reason. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer
ReplyDeleteGood questions and answers :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a bummer you two don't like to be groomed! I wonder why that is.
ReplyDeleteNo clue! Mom Paula thinks our skin on our tummies are thinner than Praline's was. We're getting better.
DeleteOur cats would definitely ask about the treat situation. The answer would be: No, you can't have treats all the time, just like I can't have cake and candy and chips and fries all the time!
ReplyDeleteMommy may have to try to answer my questions today. She saw the day mentioned in our calendar and let it disappear from her mind as she was gone through the day. I will ask her; and Girls, great questions.
ReplyDeleteThose are our most pressing questions too!!! ~Bear Cat and Ellie Mae
ReplyDeleteTruffle & Brûlée, those were fine questions to ask your momma. And Miss Paula sure is one sharp cookie, but not the edible fishy kind that Mom baked that I didn't care for, but the extra good kind that is sweet enough to smooch! Mom uses one of those metal combs when she grooms me, too. She likes it 'cause it can get through to the under coat. You are looking so-o very lovely girls. -Valentine (& Mom) of Noir Kitty Mews
ReplyDeleteWe only get kibbles as treats (they ARE tastey and crunchy) and we have a brush with rubber bristles. But we dont need much brushibng and dont like it much either.
ReplyDeletePersians not wanting a groom?? Tut tut you two!! For shame!!!
ReplyDeleteSo I DO have a question...why is a metal comb the best tool for grooming Persian cats? I'd love to know!
ReplyDeleteI know my gang wishes they got to eat treats all day long too! Most of them don't enjoy being brushed either. It just depends on what mood I catch them in! :)
ReplyDeleteI think my cats would ask why I don't feed them the instant they decide it's feeding time lol. This was a fun article-thanks.
ReplyDeleteWhile unlimited treats, no vet and no brushing sound pretty appealing to a cat, I think you're pretty lucky to have such a loving cat mom. She just wants to make sure you're happy and healthy! :)
ReplyDeleteI have to say all these questions are very similar to questions my dog would ask ;)
ReplyDeleteMy cats would ask "why do I have to have my nails trimmed?"
The look on Brulee's face in the comb photo - oh my gosh, that made me chuckle! Ruby wonders why she can't have treats all day, too!
ReplyDeleteYou girls don't like metal combs? Oh my mouses, I LOVE 'EM! We now have three. The BEST one is the oldest (it was bought long, long ago for another kitty whom I never met) and once I got past the fact that it says "Greyhound" on it and for a while there, I thought it was meant for greyhound doggies. Or busses. Well once I got past THAT, I have to say, there's not much else I like better than when the peeps bring out that INCREDIBLE comb. PURRS.
ReplyDeleteThe Greyhound comb is great!
DeleteGood question and it so hard to keep Persian cats not matted as I had one and she used to fight me with the same thing.
ReplyDeleteGood questions and even better answers. Hmmm if I had to think of a question I know my dear Dusty (RIP) would ask. "Mom why do I need a shampoo in the tub?" LOL Dusty was a fan of grooming and loved it, just not bath time.
ReplyDeleteMr. N agrees about the vet and brushing. He would like unmattable fur please.
ReplyDeleteSo I am wondering if Brulee scratched your hand when you approached with the comb? Long fur definitely needs extra special care.
ReplyDeleteThankfully, that scratch wasn't from Brulee. My skin has gotten a lot thinner lately and I barely brush against something and I'm cut. I think that scratch may have been from my mom's dog when he was playing.
DeleteThis is great -- we have so many questions about each other... different species with lots of love and also lots of misunderstandings! ~ Dear Mishu
