Lift Away Stains #ChewyInfluencer

Have you ever wanted to tear up all of your carpet because of stains left by your fur children? Mom Paula has considered just that with us being sick so much lately. Short of ripping up the carpet, there is a solution that may work.

Truffle and Nature's Miracle® Oxy Formula

As many of you know, both Truffle and Brulee have had illnesses the last few months and both had some reactions to medications that caused them to get sick.

Truffle's Latest Vet Visit

As many of you know, Truffle has been going to the vet about every three weeks since April when she had her bladder surgery to remove bladder stones. She's had 3 urinalysis tests since her infection from the surgery and we've had difficulty getting her pH levels down with normal range and her getting her urine more dilute. She went back to the vet last week for another test.

I think the girls have been going to the vet too much lately. They are a little more hesitant to get into their carriers the last few weeks. It's time to do some things to give them more positive feelings associated with their carriers again (we'll talk about this next month for Take Your Cat to the Vet Day.

National Creme Brulee Day

Creme Brulee... Just what is this interesting sounding name? Creme Brulee is a mouth-watering creamy dessert. Creme brulee is also known as burnt cream, crema Catalana, and Trinity creme.  It is a dessert that consists of a rich custard base that is topped with a contrasting layer of hard caramel and served at room temperature. National Creme Brulee Day is observed annually on July 27th!  Our own little Crystalpurrs Creme Brulee believes this day is set aside for her.

National Tell an Old Joke Day

We love these weird and funny celebrations on the calendar. Today is National Tell an Old Joke Day. Who doesn't remember the "Knock Knock" jokes and the "Why did the chicken cross the road?" joke?

We thought this photo of Brulee looking at the Cuddle Clone® Plush Clone Truffle was a perfect representation of the reaction people get when they hear an old joke.

Sunday Selfie

It's Sunday and time to take it easy. Mom Paula has a lot of work to do for the Cat Blogosphere, our blog, and a presentation for an upcoming South Carolina Gamecocks event. We think we'll just sit right in front of the computer so she'll pay attention to us.

We have a few announcement and giveaways coming up this week, so we hope you'll come back to visit!

Meow for NomNomNow

We've tried a lot of cat food during the 6 years of being adult cats with some successes and some failures. We've eaten canned food, wet food from pouches, freeze-dried food, frozen raw food, and kibble. We've never eaten freshly-made food developed by a certified veterinary nutritionist until now.

Mom Paula remembers the type of food she feed her first cat over 40 years ago. The food came from the grocery store and was basic kibble and little research was known about appropriate nutrition for cats. The knowledge-base and research on appropriate nutrition for cats has come a long way, especially during the last decade. We're turning this post over to Mom Paula to talk about a new homemade cat food from NomNomNow.

Staying Hydrated with a Pet Fountain

July has been named Pet Hydration Month. We've share numerous photos over the years of Truffle and Brulee drinking from one of the pet fountains throughout the house. Now that Truffle had the surgery to remove bladder stones, having plenty of fresh water for her to drink is extremely important to help her avoid developing future stones.

Celebrating History; Embracing Change - 7th Blogoversary

Can you believe we've been blogging for 7 years today? It seems like yesterday when Mom Paula posted that first photo of Chloe and Zoey's kittens to announce to everyone that she would have some new kittens soon.

Staying Hydrated on Tongue Out Tuesday

Did you know that 80% of a cat's body is made up of water compared to 55-60% in a human?  Pets need to drink one ounce of water per pound of body weight each day?  It's important for us to get proper hydration each day to maintain our health and avoid trips to the vet.

Truffle and Brulee are provided plenty of fresh water throughout the house with multiple pet fountains. We'll share more about Pet Hydration Month this week, so stay tuned.

Brulee says at least she is getting hydrated while she participates in Tongue Out Tuesday.

Sunday Selfie

This Sunday is so much better than last Sunday! Last Sunday Morning, Mom Paula received a phone call from the vet at the Emergency Animal Hospital and Brulee was still running a fever and not eating. Brulee is home now and finished her last antibiotic last night. She's not as clingy as she was when she first came home, but she is staying near Mom Paula. The hissing and growling have stopped from Truffle and we hope she is finally on the mend. Mom Paula wants to break out in song, singing "Oh What a Beautiful Morning!" because she feels her little family is slowly getting back to normal. Speaking of a beautiful morning, look how well Brulee is looking this weekend compared to last weekend.

Brulee came home surprisingly clean from the emergency animal hospital. Mom Paula mentioned this to the vet assistant who was checking her out and the assistant told Mom Paula they always try to clean up the animals; even giving them baths, if needed.

Together As a Family Again

Mom Paula is finally feeling up to helping us with our blog post for this week. We'll let you know what's happened since our last detailed post from Sunday, 7/1/18. We're finally "putting up" with each other without a bunch of growling and hissing, so we're back to our little family again.

Truffle and Brulee back together again, even though there is still a little hissing happening

Mom Paula: I finished the last post on Sunday with the fact that I'd heard from the vet and Brulee's fever had finally broken and going high and higher over two nights and days. The last phone call from Dr. McCann indicated that the fever had finally broken and there was no long any discolored nasal discharge, and that Brulee was eating a little of the kibble and treats.

Celebrating the 4th of July

We're celebrating not only because it's the birth of our country, the United States of America, but because both Truffle and Brulee are at home together and feeling better.

Brulee and Truffle celebrating the 4th of July

This is the closest Truffle has gotten to Brulee since she came home Monday. There was a hiss from Truffle, but not the growling she's had since Monday. We'll update everyone on their current status tomorrow.

Have a wonderful and safe 4th of July!

Update on Brulee

We wanted to wait until we received an update from the vet this afternoon before posting on Brulee.

Brulee at Emergency Veterinary Hospital during Mom Paula's visit

After the phone call from Dr. McCann yesterday afternoon, I decided to take some of the canned food, kibble, and treats that Brulee normally eats (everyone knows how finicky she is). I forgot to ask if I would be able to see her, but when I arrived, the receptionist told me I'd be able to visit with her in a room to see if she would eat from me. Brulee was in the middle of getting a breathing treatment.
