Eating with Jackson Galaxy

Everyone knows we are pampered Persian cats and have grown accustomed to being catered to. This doesn't stop when we are eating.

We've talked a lot about the challenge of feeding Truffle and Brulee because of their flatter faces. We've reviewed several bowls that successfully helped with whisker stress, especially for Brulee.

Nova Bowl

Brulee tends to pick up her food with her tongue and tends to make a mess, especially with flatter bowls. It's been difficult to find a bowl that is wide enough to avoid her flat face being inside the bowl and deep enough to keep the food in the bowl. We've found a new bowl that helps with whisker stress and combats the mess around the bowl for Brulee that is both stylish and functional. Through the assistance of Jackson Galaxy, Petmate® has released the Nova Bowl that is a contemporary design and functional. It's made of stainless steel that is hygenic, rust-proof, and easy to clean. What makes this bowl unique is there is a higher back to the bowl, so when Brulee is licking her food, the food falls back into the bowl instead of off the bowl onto the floor.

Eclipse Bowl

Another bowl recently released as part of the Jackson Galaxy collection is the Eclipse Bowl. This bowl is a little smaller than the Nova bowl (3 oz of canned food), but it's alway great to combat whisker stress. The bowl has a slight incline to prevent messes and non-skid feed to keep the bowl from tipping or sliding. This bowl is ideal for Truffle because she tends to bite into her food and doesn't make as much of a mess. We wish the bowl was a little wider on the long sides to keep the food in the bowl better because Truffle also uses her tongue, especially if the food has some gravy.

If you don't know who Jackson Galaxy is, we highly recommend you search the Internet and/or watch My Cat From Hell on Animal Planet. We've reviewed several Jackson Galaxy products from Petmate in the past and haven't been disappointed by any of them.

Mom Paula saw these bowls at Global Pet Expo in 2017 when she met Jackson Galaxy in person. He was very nice, informative, and loved to talk about cats. We believe his love of cats and their successful coexisting with humans shows through his products.

  3. The bowls are gorgeous, why shouldn't they be functional and stylish!! It took me awhile to find bowls that were the right size and style for my cats because they would often finish eating with food absolutely everywhere. Of course with 5 cats that was a lot of experimenting!

  4. What an interesting design of a bowl! I bet these would work well for my cats, even though they do not have flat faces - one of my cats will use his paw to pull out the kibble out of the bowl and then eat it. Maybe this bowl would work well for him.

  5. We would love to try the Nova bowl--there is always food falling out around our dishes!

  7. I have been eyeing these bowls, especially the Nova one. Wondering if they would be easier to use than the stainless barware I have been using to feed the kitties ...

  8. Marceline would probably like the Eclipse bowl the best because it just looks more style

  10. These bowls look so cool- stylish and functional. They might even work for my little flat faced greedy Pug. He often makes a bit of a mess, especially if there is gravy.

  11. I love Jackson Galaxy even though I don't have any cats of my own! Those bowls are cool. I never put much thought into regular bowls causing issues for cats but it makes sense.

  12. I love those bowls, what a clever idea and I personally think that the Nova would be awesome for Ms Messy Eater

  14. Thanks for the share. The bowls look outstanding. Maybe this will help with food being dropped out of the bowl and onto the floor. The design of them is something really neat looking. Have a wonderful weekend.

  15. Very cool your Mom got to meet Jackson Galaxy. These are nice bowls, Prancie seems to be bothered with regular bowls so either of these would please her.

  16. I like the angle; must make eating much easier. How much does the food spill, though? Not that I really care, Cookie is hand-fed.

    1. There is little to no spill with the Nova. There is spillage on the Eclipse bowl (wouldn't be able to use it with Brulee).

  17. These are both super stylish food bowls for super stylish kitties! Anything that has Jackson's approval must be great. He Is The Man - the Cat Man, that is.

  18. Those look great. I'd love to try them out with my furballs, I don't usually go for this stuff because it's a lot of money for my big crowd. I usually opt for paper plates. I raw feed too so paper is easy quick and easy and sanitary.

  19. I really love the look and overall style of these bowls! I think my cats would really benefit from the Nova bowl, especially my largest cat who is almost 20 pounds of pure fluff! Lol!

  20. Those bowls look so weird at first glance - but I can see how they'd make it easier for our cats to eat!

  21. We really love these bowls! I think my long whiskers would fit in them purrfectly and I wouldn't have any whisker stress!

  22. Jackson does it again, eh?! So cool you got to meet him. I WISH these were available when my Dusty was alive because I soo would have used these. Dusty had trouble keeping all her food in her bowl too. She'd do the same things with licking the gravy then biting the food out of the bowl. Sometimes all the food wouldn't land back in the bowl. LOL Great product. Why didn't someone think of this sooner?

  23. Both bowls are a great combination of form and function! I think they would be perfect for wet or fresh food. Does kibble fall off the edge?

    1. Kibble would probably fall off the edge of the Eclipse bowl.

  24. These look like great bowls. I didn't know some cats have problems with eating because of the shape of their faces. They look very functional. I've only had dogs who can eat out of anything.

  25. A friend's dog struggles eating out of certain bowls too due to a flat face. It's great there's products to help with that and make mealtime smoother!

  26. I would like to meet that Mr. Jackson. He's always coming up with cool purr-oducts. Mom says I'm a messy eater too. She says I'm always spilling my kibble and my moist noms out of my bowls and plates. She uses a variety of them for me. She found a fine china saucer with pretty flowers and gold rim for me at the thrift store. I I like it very much.
