"Pet travel is on the rise thanks to pet-friendly hotels, attractions, and workspaces," say Michael Leung, Sleepypod® co-founder and lead product designer. "Since pets rely upon their owners for everything from food to protection, getting to a destination is not without challenges."
We'll write more during September about being prepared for emergencies because it's National Disaster Preparedness Month. We want to talk about how to prepare for trips with your pets, even if it's for an overnight stay at the veterinary hospital. Many of our cat blogging friends travel with their cats on a regular basis, whether it's a day trip to the park or a vacation together. We're a little envious because Mom Paula didn't have time to work with us on traveling when we were younger because her job took up a lot of her time. We never really thought about having a special bag put together for traveling overnight, because we never go anywhere except for a trip to the vet, which is only a few hours. All of that changed this past year when Truffle had to stay at the vet for a week due to an infection after her bladder stone surgery and Brulee's 4-day stay at the emergency animal hospital due to a violent reaction to her vaccination. Mom Paula found herself searching for an appropriate bag to put canned food, dry kibble, treats, medication, and familiar object for us for the longer stays. We were very pleased when Sleepypod® released the Go Bag this summer!
What is the Sleepypod® Go Bag?
The Sleepypod® Go Bag is designed to assist with pet travel, but is also ingenious enough for human travel. The bag is sturdy in fashionable colors and helps organize both pet and human travel essentials.

Mom Paula using the Sleepypod® Go Bag at BlogPaws |
We received an advanced copy of the Sleepypod Go Bag for Mom Paula to try it out at the BlogPaws Conference this Spring. We weren't attending the conference with her, so she wore it to carry her computer, bottled water, notebook, business cards, and special gifts for her cat friends. The strap was large enough to cross the body and there was a lot of room in the bag. One of our cat blogging friends was carrying her cat around in the Go Bag and he appeared very comfortable. She was using the Go Bag like a cat sling. We want to stress that this cat is accustomed to traveling and is comfortable around people.
Design of the Go Bag

Truffle presenting the Sleepypod® Go Bag and it's components |
The Sleepypod® Go Bag is designed to be comfortable for cross-body carrying and also has a streamlined grab handle for convenience. There are two mini packing cubes and an insulated food pouch included in the Go Bag. When watching the video below from Sleepypod, cans of food, toys, and medication are stored in the smaller bags. A small bag of kibble is shown in the larger bag. If you travel on day trips with your cat, the larger insulated bag could be used to store a sandwich for your lunch or other food items. There are gusseted side pockets that can hold water bottles or a cell phone. What's really neat is the exterior utility ring where you can hang a leash or a flashlight. There is a zippered pocket for easy access to items, a padded main compartment which can protect your laptop or tablet. There is in interior pocket and lanyard for keys. The Sleepypod Go Bag is made from heavy duty, luggage grade ballistic nylon. We encourage you to watch the short video below from Sleepypod to see one way you could pack for traveling with your pets. The Sleepypod Go Bag is available in Jet Black, Glacier Silver, Strawberry Red, and Robin Egg Blue. We are featuring the Strawberry Red and the Robin Egg Blue in our photos.

Personal Use
Emergency Kit
We plan on packing one of the Go Bags with emergency supplies for us. We're going to include some canned cat food, some dry kibble, a large water bottle, important papers, a first aid kit, and other important items we may need. We've already purchased some personalized name tags with our information that will be attached to the bag. We hope we don't need to stay overnight at the veterinary hospital again anytime soon, but the red bag will match one of our Sleepypod® Mobile Pet Beds perfectly and will be more easily identifiable. This bag would be updated depending on the situation, whether it's an overnight trip to the vet or an evacuation because of weather.

We have the carriers always set up and ready to go!
ReplyDeleteI could really use this to take with us to shows, it would be so much better than the current rolly tote bag mess I’m lugging now.
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome bag!
ReplyDeleteWe don't travel with our cats. Bear would be nearly impossible - as he was over 10 years ago when I moved back to St Louis with him. I'm hoping Ellie will be our adventure cat :)
ReplyDeleteWe have a few things in the car already like a water and food dish, blankets and wipes. I grab the rest before we leave like the carriers, food and water.
ReplyDeleteThis tote sounds really handy and versatile! It would probably be good for my therapy cat visits.
ReplyDeleteMy vet lets us access medical records from a smartphone app called Vitusvet. It is great for traveling (or emergencies) because we always have the latest medical records with us.
ReplyDeleteI have 2 cat carriers for the cats and another bag for their dishes, food and vet records.
ReplyDeleteWe have a travel/evacuation bin full of most everything we need at a moment's notice, and our carriers are always out and on hand. Cupcake has a travel daybag, but the rest of us don't.
ReplyDeleteWe LOVE the To Go Bag! We have one so we won't enter so everyone else has a chance to get one. We're working on our review today!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing such a great post. Luckily it has been a quiet summer for hurricanes so far, but that could change in September and October. We all should be always prepared for anything. We watched the video and it looks like a great to go bag if you need to evacuate right away. Hope you all have a lovely Labor Day Weekend.
ReplyDeleteWorld of Animals
That's a really good idea even if we wouldn't be crazy about the go part!
ReplyDeleteMom has Chanel's overnight stuff in a hard plastic container and her every day stuff in a similar bag. Mom wishes she had gotten a better look at this at Blog Paws.
ReplyDeleteI have a back pack next to the door for an emergency but need a smaller bag and this looks awesome
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a great bag for emergencies. I have thought about how I would get everyone out in an emergency and have enough carriers if some double up,but I am ashamed to admit I forgot about supplies.
ReplyDeleteOh MeOW We could fur sure use the go bag. Mommy uses old purrses of bags or even grocery bags. We make do with what we've got. This would be amazin'. Big hugs
ReplyDeleteLuv ya'
Dezi and Raena
My frogs travel well because I make sure they have gone to the potty and are comfortable and secured in the car.
ReplyDeleteI tend to pack Henry's food in Ziploc bags, but they don't last long!
ReplyDeleteMy crazy Coonhounds are a real handful so we don't do too much travel, except for day trips. That, plus I have a senior cat with medical issues and she needs me to give her meds twice a day, we keep it relatively close to home. However, when we do go, I typically throw everything into a reusable grocery bag, which isn't big enough and is impossible to organize. I also drive volunteer rescue transports, and having something like this to keep my supplies for that would be a godsend!
ReplyDeleteThat’s a really nice bag. We would use it to put all our important stuff in,,,,,toys and treats, ;)
ReplyDeletei usually make a list of things i will need for them as i do for myself. i start laying out things i need. make sure i have medical records, vet's #, medicine, food, treats, etc. i also have some bags already packed to go like for emergency situations.
ReplyDeleteThat bag looks really great, and very convenient ! Purrs
ReplyDeleteMy cats are models and actors, so they have to travel a lot. I have carriers and a play pen set up in the car to make it easier for them to travel. I have a baby diaper bag, but it's not big enough to carry the necessities for the long day, so it's usually a couple of bags. Not convenient. This SleepyPod Bag looks big enough to carry everything!! AND it looks like it can slip over the stroller handle! Bonus! Mango is eyeing the Robin's Egg Blue one!
ReplyDeleteI pack Josie's food, bed, treats, toys, blanket and bed. When we drive, she has a basket with a harness in the back seat.
ReplyDeleteI pack his treats, toys, clothes, food and water and other gear. He pretty much needs a bag to himself!
ReplyDeleteWe have all of their carriers all set up. And I have a kit of pet supplies in a bag. But this go bag looks much better!
ReplyDeleteHello, Mom Paula, Truffle and Brulee! Thanks for sharing this post and giveaway! We love Sleepypod and have the Sleepypod dog safety harness for Happy-Go-Doodle Chloe's car trips. I'm excited to see the Sleepypod go bag! I could definitely use it on so many outings and adventures! Tail wags and take care!
ReplyDeleteI love a bag with cross body strap. We do have emergency kit, but would love a bag like to keep everything in!
ReplyDeleteI love this bag!! It would make things so easier when out on day trips with Jack. During our travels I find myself packing in a knapsack which is so impractical, it takes ages to find anything.
ReplyDeleteI travel with my two cats a lot. I recently purchased Sleepypod carriers for them, as they are crash tested. Yesterday was our first longer trip in them, and I was pleasantly surprised that my female didn't seem to cry nearly as much as she normally does. I currently pack their things in a small container I got with their larger food container. It holds a decent amount of stuff, but I can't keep anything cold, and it's a bit awkward to carry. The GoBag would be great for ease of traveling!
ReplyDeleteI live in an earthquake area and really need to make an emergency bag.
ReplyDeleteThis would be perfect for traveling with my service dog, especially on airplanes! We prepare for traveling with a long list of all of our stuff to pack, especially our service dog gear. Amazing giveaway!
ReplyDeleteLove this bag! We always thought we were in a neutral weather zone just north of Boston but in the past few years we've had a tornado and lots of flooding. We keep a "go" bag at the ready in case we need to head to the basement with water/blankets but this would let us be more prepared and organized with we need to pack up the pugs and head out :)
ReplyDeleteI have a carrier for Mr. B and then I pack his food, meds and toys in a tote bag.
ReplyDeleteI have 3 SleepyPods for my girls plus I take their food, a collapsible water dish and water with us.
ReplyDeleteDepends on the trip. If it's just a day trip, make sure to have treats, water and bowl, and toys.
ReplyDeleteI have a large tote bag that I use to carry most of my dogs stuff when we travel, but this looks like it would be better!
ReplyDeleteI have carriers, food, towels and walking jackets with leads. You never know what situation will arise!
ReplyDeleteSleepypod makes such cool stuff!
ReplyDeleteWe are moving soon and have 3 cats.A sturdy, attractive carrier for each cat will help smooth over the transition.
ReplyDeleteI spray some calming spray in the carrier.
ReplyDeleteI’ve always wanted to try these bags! Thanks for the review of this one.
ReplyDeleteI'm in desperate need for one of these bags for my Emotional Support Animal when we travel AND to use as an emergency go bag as living in California can mean you have to evacuate at any moment from a fire.
ReplyDeleteHave to say, anything that helps out in an emergency has to be good. This is purpose made for the job, and with diligence and judicial use, could be a real life saver.
ReplyDeletePurrs

Thanks for the giveaway! We are huge sleepypod fans!
ReplyDeleteThat looks very practical and useful. And who doesn't love giveaways?
ReplyDeleteI've only traveled locally so far (within a few hours).
ReplyDeleteI Travel A lot Most Of My Family Are In Different States !!! So I Pack Plenty Plenty Of Dog Food Treats!! I Will Never Put In The KENNEL He Is My Best Friend
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately none of my kitties like to travel but we have carriers ready to go with food and water in case of emergencies. Like last year when we were packed and they were loaded up when the wind died and our house didn't burn in the Tubbs fire in northern California. It was really close and scary especially as I had two foster kitties to worry about as well as my own.
ReplyDeleteWhen preparing for travel with my pets I make sure to have shot records, medications, food, water, soft blanket and toys ready for packing.
ReplyDeleteWe prepare by packing all of her favorite things, getting her carrier and food ready! She loves to travel!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a fabulous travel package! The robins egg blue is particularly appealing. I would love to enter but alas, am Canadian.
ReplyDeleteThat is a fantastic "to go" bag! Good for pups, too, for carrying meds (I'm thinking of my now furangel Gibson and his Epi meds and essentials). Love the colors, too. That red is brilliant! Thanks for the great review and hosting the giveaway. Most of all, so happy Brulee is back home! While it is a wonderful bag to have at the ready, let's hope you don't need to use it for another vet stay, but rather a fun outing. :-)
ReplyDeleteI bring lots of treats and we try not to travel too often or far.
ReplyDeleteI've been using their seat belt harness for years and it is awesome. This bag looks great!
ReplyDeleteI bring lots of treats.
ReplyDeleteWow, this bag is really gorgeous! It's fabulous, I love the look of it and the insulated pouch & cubes it comes with - those are truly great features. I'm getting in on this great contest just in the nick of time!
ReplyDeleteLove & Biscuits,
Dogs Luv Us and We Luv Them
I prepare to travel with my dogs by having a similar bag but it's no where near as versatile and useful or stylish as this one! We travel a lot with them and it's often very long road trips so a sturdy bag with features like this one would be great!
Deletea carrier for the most part. Or they stay with a sitter.
ReplyDeleteI prepare to travel with my pet,by packing the basic essentials and bringing a comfy carrier and making sure they are safe and secure.
ReplyDeleteI prepare for traveling by packing a toy, food, water and even medicine that my fur baby takes daily. This bag would be perfect!
ReplyDeleteWe have not been able to travel with our pets. The only travel was brining her home.
ReplyDeleteI do not take my cat when I travel he would be horrified.
ReplyDeleteWe pack alot of food and toys
ReplyDeleteHaving to evacuate for hurricanes necessitates cat travel. I try to bring ad much of their stuff with us in the carriers
ReplyDeleteIve only gone in the car with them so I bring water and bowls and treats and baggies for pit stops
ReplyDeleteI just leave the carrier out and the cats get in themselves to investigate.
ReplyDeleteI have a tote bag I put my dog's supplies in. He now recognizes it and goes to the door when he sees me getting it ready.
