Fun and Functional Eating - Totally Catty and Totally Pooched

Most of our readers know that Truffle is on a prescription diet because of her bladder stones this year. There is really only one flavor/texture/brand she will readily eat (and she wasn't our finicky eater!), so keeping the meals interesting is a challenge. Mom Paula will mix in a little of Brulee's food in with Truffle's to keep Truffle from pushing Brulee aside. She'll also add some crumbs from our freeze-dried chicken to make it more enticing. Mom Paula likes the esthetic part of eating out of unique dishes and she found some fun dishes, that are also functional, to share with you today.

Totally Catty™ Single Diner

Brulee eating out of the Totally Catty Single Diner (bowl is greener than shown in photo)

We're always trying to find a dish that is safe and easily allows us to eat from. We are Persian cats and we have flatter faces than the average cat (especially Brulee). Brulee doesn't like deep bowls because her whiskers touch the edge and her face is immersed in the bowl where she can't see Truffle coming. Mom Paula has tried flatter bowls and dishes, but Brulee eats by picking up her food with her tongue and she ends up pushing half of the food off the dish onto the floor/carpet. We've shared reviews of other dishes we've liked in the past, but were impressed with the quality and the functionality of the Totally Catty™ Single Diner from Totally Pooched™.

We received the single diners from Totally Catty because we don't do too well eating beside each other anymore. There are four colors available: teal, light grey, green, and purple. These colors are bright and remind Mom Paula of the 70s and 80s with the neon colors. The green bowl is a bright neon lime green, which makes it easier for her to avoid stepping on the bowls on the floor. There is a removable stainless steel dish that is wide enough to avoid whisker stress, but has sides that are tall enough where the food isn't pushed on the floor. The stainless steel dishes sit inside a non-slip melamine base. Both  Truffle and Brulee loved eating from these bowls! There is a double diner for those who feed cats side-by-side or who like to have both wet and dry food available.

Totally Pooched Food Mat

Truffle eating from the Totally Catty single dish on the Totally Pooched food mat

We mentioned earlier how messy of an eater Brulee is... We must admit Truffle is pretty tidy, but Brulee tends to lick a lot of her food off of the dish/out of the bowl. Totally Pooched™ designed a silicone mat that keeps the grip on the bottom of the food and water bowls to prevent sliding and has a raised edge to help contain spills. The Totally Pooched mat matches the bases of the Totally Catty dishes. The photo above of Truffle eating shows the "Totally Pooched" logo, but you actually turn the mat over with the logo on the floor to get the higher edges to contain the mess.

The mat is made of non-slip silicone and is stain and odor-resistant. It's made of FDA approved silicone and is BPA and PVC free. The Totally Pooched Mat measures 15.75" x 11.8".

There are currently some technical difficulties with the Totally Pooched website (they are working on it now), but you can see the colors and read more about the mat on Amazon.

You can visit Totally Catty and Totally Pooched on their Facebook pages; Instagram; and Twitter.

  3. This sounds like a really nice set! We could probably use it, but we already won a bowl from you!

  4. I really like the coral mat. I wasn't able to locate the single diner bowls, though.
Milita was our messy eater, but I always put Carmine's food on a place mat, too.

  5. Oh those are nice! We need to say we received the dishes we won the other day and no one wanted to eat from them! Momma was quite perplexed by that!

  6. I like the blue mat. My cats like any dish that has food in it! MOL! We use dining mats here, but not as nice as this one. Thanks for the review!

  7. I like the blue. My cat doesn't really have a preference, he is usually fed in a stainless steel bowl.

  8. Those look really nice, both the bowls and the mats!

  9. Thank you Mom Paula, Brulee and Truffle for sharing your wonderful review. We have been trying to find a bowl that has extra width so our little ones don't get their whiskers all dirty. We will have to order this product. They look wonderful enjoying their new bowls. Have a great rest of your day. Thanks again.

  11. Green! my cat likes stain steel containers

  12. Great review! I don't have any cats but I always feel like I can never have too many bowls for my dogs. Half the time their bowls are soaking in the sink and I end up just letting them eat out of our (the humans') bowls. These look like they'd be great for puppers too!

  13. Obviously we would totally luv the purple one. Those look so amazin'. big hugs

  14. Those are some nice dishes. And having everything color coordinated is great.

  15. Love the bowls, and the placemat is pretty cool too!! Some of my cats would be a bit messy with their food, so a placement was a big help in our family. I was always on the lookout for nice shallower bowls, since my tribe seemed to prefer that style.

  16. We'd choose the gray. I've been looking for good quality mats - I'll look into these!

  17. I've always loved purple so that would be my choice. My cat Shadow, is a tripod, and because of that has really started having balancing problems while eating. We had these cute ice cream dishes (not breakable) and I started using them because he can sit comfortably upright and eat.

  18. These are really fun dishes, and practical as well. I love the mat, that is so helpful. Icy often takes food out of her bowl to get to the really good bitty-bits first!

  20. This looks very good. And I love the colors :-)

  21. I like the teal ones the most, but if I win, I'm going to give it to my sister's new kitten and she would prefer the gray.

  22. Very nice! Yes. I remember my cat Dusty had that similar issue here and there. Food would get all on her whiskers because she had to bury her head in her food to get to it because the dish wasn't shallow. It was quite funny to watch actually. These dishes are a great solution to that problem. I love that they also thought of a silicone mat too to help avoid sliding bowls. Great product. Good luck to the participants in the giveaway.

  23. I like the grey color the best. I'd love a wide and shallow dish like that for my cats :)

  24. Anything in purple!! My cats love metal bowls.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I like the purple color. My cats eat out of ceramic bowls that I made for them.

    ReplyDelete
  26. We like the blue color from the single bowls choice. My cats eat from glass bowls but the bowls are too narrow. I like these because they are wider.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I like the green color and my furbarbies will eat out of ANY bowl, although if it is too small or rounded they won't eat all the food.

  28. I choose purple.
My dogs love to eat out of their stainless steel dishes.
