Clean Tracks with Dr. Elsey's #ChewyInfluencer

One of the things people rarely talk about when getting cats may be the litter box. There are debates about which type of box is better for cats and there are decisions to make about the type of litter to purchase. One usually doesn't think about litter being tracked throughout the house.

We've gone through several types of litter boxes and litter since Truffle and Brulee came to live with me seven years ago. The first litter I used was the type the girls used as kittens at their first home. I stuck with this litter for a few years until the company changed the formula and the litter wouldn't clump as well and didn't control odor. I tried a few other brands and finally settled on Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat Ultra Clumping Litter because the girls seemed to like this litter more than others. I was thrilled when we were given the opportunity to review a new product from Dr. Elsey's this month from Chewy.com as part of the Chewy Influencer program.

I wanted to make sure I had a litter that both girls would use. Truffle had become a little apprehensive with one of the litters I'd used in the past and both girls were becoming a little less comfortable with the litter box I'd bought a few years ago. The girls have always had covered litter boxes, but as they are getting older, they appear to be more cautious around the box and their food. I found a covered litter box with a larger opening and I removed the door from it. Truffle and Brulee both prefer this box over the previous box. The new litter we received from Chewy.com was Dr. Elsey's Clean Tracks Multi-Cat Litter.

I added the Dr. Elsey's Clean Tracks Multi-Cat Litter in with the Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat Ultra Clumping Litter to make sure the girls recognized the smells of the litter they'd used in the past. It didn't take Truffle but a minute to enter the litter box with the new litter and immediately use it. Because Truffle used it first, Brulee was soon to follow. I've noticed very little tracking around the house now, which is important because Truffle and Brulee have a lot of fur on their paws and litter tends to stick to it. The surprising result of the new litter from Dr. Elsey's and the newly designed litter box is that both girls prefer using it now! I'm seeing very little usage in the other litter box. I truly believe it's a combination of the litter and the style of the box.

The litter is fragrance-free and is gentle on noses and paws, but tough on odors. It's 99% dust-free and offers low-tracking benefits which every cat parent loves! It's made with natural ingredients and the medium-grain clay helps keep the litter in the litter box where it belongs. The Dr. Elsey's Clean Tracks litter is 100% free of deodorants, perfumes, and chemicals and is also hypo-allergenic.

Key Benefits

  • Fragrance-free formula is purr-fect for cats and pet parents who are sensitive to scents.
  • 99% dust-free formula allows you and your feline friend to breathe easy.
  • Multi-strength litter is made with natural ingredients and is perfect for multi-cat households.
  • Hypo-allergenic littler contains no plant proteins, which means it’s great for cats and pet parents with certain allergies.
  • Made in the USA without chemicals and packaged in an easy-to-carry box with a handle and easy-pour spout.

I must say I'm very impressed with this litter and will probably change my usual autoship of the Precious Cat Ultra litter to the Clean Tracks litter, or at least, order a mixture of the two. I will also purchase another litter box of the same style (maybe Chewy.com has this style litter box).

The litter is currently $10.99 at Chewy.com and if you order it with other items that total $49+, you'll receive free 2-day shipping.

  3. Mommy says we need to try this litter! She likes less tracking and I like less dust. And Lexy likes fragrance free, so it's a win for all of us!

  4. That's a pretty nice box. We have a Catit which we took the flap and the flip top off so it has a half lid. It's perfect. I like that litter cos it doesn't track and is fragrance free.

  7. We used to use the same Dr. Elsey's litter you did but the bags always arrived open and in the box instead of in the bag. Maybe something is a box would work better.

  8. We shall have to try that litter soon! Clean tracks would be great--though we need the cat attract too (we use a combo of the clumping and the attract)

  10. I remember we stayed with friends when we first came to NZ. They had three beautiful pedigree Siamese cats who had a lovely hooded litter tray with a nice mat outside to catch the litter they tracked - which I watched all three happily jump right over!!

    ;-)

I think this stuff would make them much happier and maybe they wouldn't need a mat to catch annoying tracking litter!

  11. Unfortunately I don't have cats at the moment, but when I did litter was always an issue, especially when we moved and I had to re-discover a new litter they would like. I did often have trouble with them tracking litter on the floor, but I was just happy they liked it enough to use their litterbox, I accepted it was just part of life with cats.

  13. I do not have cats but in Israel I did and it was a nightmare with the kitty litter all the time, am amazed at the products today

  14. Looks good! I have to admit I don't know much about litter though, not being able to have a cat of my own. I did have one when I was a kid. I feel like products, such as litter, have come a long way since then!

  15. This is the litter I use my cats won't go to the litter box unless there is Dr. Elsey's litter there. Great product they have many options too even for those big offenders that do not want to use the litter box LOL

  16. Nice litter box! I wish my cats would be comfortable enough to use one with a lid, but I guess what's important is that they are comfortable with it. Now, if I could only get them to wipe their paws after being in the litter box!

  17. Nice! I never heard of this brand of litter but can appreciate the no tracking clumping litter. That's a big plus. I know what you mean about having to adjust the litter box with age. I found I had to get a litter box with a ramp for Dusty when she was in her senior years. It worked great. Glad your two girls adjusted to this litter flawlessly.

  19. Wow, clean track litter! Sounds amazing to me. While I do not have a kitty (just a feral who loves outdoors), I am going to share this with my kitty Mom friends! Thanks for the great review!

  20. It's great when the thing your pets like is also something you like, isn't it? We don't have to deal with litter boxes but I've heard good things about this brand.

  21. What a great idea to remove the door on the litter box to help the girls feel more comfortable. My cat Maggie liked a covered box too. She was always tracking litter outside the box, this litter would have helped a lot!
