World Veterinary Day: Value of Vaccination
Those who follow our blog know how strongly we support care from veterinarians for both wellness checkups and illnesses. Today is World Veterinary Day and we want to take a moment to honor those individuals who devote their time, love, and expertise to help keep us healthy.
The World Veterinary Association created World Veterinary Day in 2000 to promote the veterinary profession around the world. Each year there is a different theme for the day to help remind pet owners of the importance of animal care and how veterinary technicians can help. This year's theme is: Value of Vaccination.

Today is a post celebrating the special bond between children and pets. Mom Paula grew up with pets and believes being responsible for these furry companions has helped her to be a more caring and empathetic individual
National Kids and Pets Day was created by Colleen Paige, Celebrity Family and Pet Lifestyle Expert, in 2005. This day is dedicated to furthering the magical bond between animals and children, educating the public about safety between children and pets, and bringing awareness to pets in shelters.

Wellness Checkup for Cats - Understanding the CBC Results
We've talked about the importance of taking your cat to the vet for wellness checkups in addition to times when she may be ill. A normal wellness checkup will include taking measurements of weight and temperature; examination of the ears, eyes, and teeth; and necessary vaccinations. Many vets will request blood tests for your cat. What do the results of these tests tell you?
Your vet may recommend a blood test which includes a Complete Blood Count (CBC) and a Blood Chemistry Panel.

National Pet Day was founded by Animal Welfare
Advocate, Colleen Paige, from Pet & Family Lifestyle Expert in 2006. This
day was set aside to celebrate the joy pets bring to our lives and to create an
awareness of the plight many kinds of animals in shelters and rescues who are
waiting for a forever home. You can read more about National Pet Day here.
A special thank you goes to our new pet sitter,
Denise, for this photo. Mom Paula likes to receive photos of us each day when
she's gone, so Denise was great sending photos. This one was especially great
because of our pose. Mom Paula has tried to get a posed photo of the two of us
with both of us looking at her for over 7 years.

Treat Motivated
Do you have a bag of treats in every room in the house in order to find your cats? Do you have a variety of flavors and textures so your cat doesn't get bored? If so, you probably have a cat who is treat motivated!
Truffle and Brulee are very motivated by treats! I have at least one type of treat in every room in my home because I know I can usually find the girls if I shake the bag or container. I thought I'd share some of the treats that are favorites for the girls.
