National Truffle Day

National Truffle Day

Truffle 2019

We know this day was designed for that delicious chocolate confectionery, which is where Truffle got her name because she is as sweet as her dessert namesake.

Some facts about National Truffle Day.

  • Observed annually on May 2
  • Truffles are traditionally made with a chocolate ganache center coated in chocolate, icing, cocoa powder, chopped nuts, or coconut.
  • Truffles may be filled with cream melted chocolate, caramel, nuts, fruit, nougat, fudge, toffee, mint, marshmallow, or liqueur.
It appears there is some disagreement about who invented truffles.  We found an interesting post about truffles and thought you'd enjoy reading about the history of the truffle.

Mom Paula selected the name Truffle for her beautiful fur child because she was sweet like the candy and Mom Paula loved eating white chocolate truffles.  We are sending a special treat with Mom Paula to BlogPaws 2017 for some of our special friends.

Special Thoughts to Ann from Zoolatry

We'd also like to take a moment to offer condolences to our dear friend, Ann, from Zoolatry. She lost her cat, Maggy, this week. Maggy was one of the first cats Mom Paula met when she began blogging 11 years ago. Ann is also the person who designs our blog and does many of our graphics. Our thoughts and prayers are with Ann as she grieves her beautiful Maggy.

  1. I think this should be Truffle's day! Since we kitties don't actually eat candy, we just sometimes get named after it. ;-)
