I love going to Global Pet Expo because I always find something new for my cats. This year was no exception! As I said above, I'm always searching for wet cat food recipes that are good for the girls and that they both will eat. Caru® Pet Food Company has developed Classic Stews for cats that are slow cooked in small batches to look, smell, and taste like homemade. You can see in the photo above how interested both Truffle and Brulee are in the Caru Wild Salmon & Turkey Stew as soon as I opened the container.

Caru Pet Food
The Caru Pet Food Company is a family-owned business that is operated by two Canadians, Adrian and Pamela Pettyan, who originally founded Karu's Canine Cuisine in 2010. Adrian and Pam are medical professionals who care about the happiness and well-being of every pet. They've created the stew recipes in collaboration with a Ph.D. animal nutritionist. All of the Caru products (food and treats) are manufactured in facilities in the United States that are USDA approved and inspected. The Caru Classic Stews are made with 100% human-grade ingredients and are formulated to meet the needs of your cats. Caru stews and treats contain no ingredients from China! In fact, Caru signed the Pledge concerning quality and origin of ingredients that was established by the Association for Truth in Pet Food.Classic Stews and Treats for Cats

Truffle and Brulee both enjoying their Caru Classic Stews |
We received a sample package containing one of each of the four recipes of the Classic Stews and a bag of the Baked Bites (chicken) treats to review. The Classic Stews are available in four recipes:
- Chicken & Crab Stew
- Chicken Stew
- Turkey Stew
- Wild Salmon & Turkey Stew
The Classic Stews are grain, gluten, and genetically modified (GMO) ingredient free and all of the stews have the main protein (chicken, turkey, salmon) as the first ingredient. Caru stews include Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids for healthy skin and a shiny coat, high quality protein for strong muscles and a healthy heart, and taurine which is essential for feline health.
I haven't had the opportunity to let the girls try the other three recipes yet, but if they are as successful as the Wild Salmon & Turkey Stew, I know I'll get them some more of this to eat. Any food where Brulee will clean her plate is a success for us.

Truffle and Brulee waiting to eat some of the Caru Baked Bites |
Caru offers three recipes of treats for cats called Baked Bites. Just like the Classic Stews, the first ingredient in the Baked Bites are real poultry or fish. The Baked Bites are also made in the United States and are packed with high-quality protein and don't contain any wheat, corn, or soy ingredients (no ingredients from China). The three recipes are chicken, salmon, and tuna. The Baked Bites are very small and I had some difficulty trying to feed Truffle and Brulee the pieces individually. However, they had no problem eating them from my hand. You may want to feed the Baked Bites as a "dessert" in a small dish. The Baked Bites are not designed to replace your cat's daily diet. The Baked Bites should be used within 45 days after the package is opened.
Where to Purchase Caru
If you are interested in purchasing Caru products (both dog and cat), you can type in your address or postal code on the "find us" app on the website. We found 3 locations within a 20 miles radius from us that carried Caru products. Caru products can also be found at many online retailers such as Chewy.com and Amazon. Some retailers, such as Walmart, offers the stew in individual containers. The same locations also have the Baked Bites available for purchase. The food may be a little more expensive than some wet cat food you purchase, but we like the idea of the food being prepared in small batches like homemade. We will probably save a container of the Caru Classics Stews for a once-a-week meal.
Caru Classic Stews is also available for dogs in six flavors!

We'd love to try the Chicken and Crab Stew.
ReplyDeleteGlad Brulee liked it!
We get Stinky Goodness most of the time and kibbles as treats in the evening. Dad says we need the water in the food.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds yummy! I'd want the chicken or turkey stew.
ReplyDeleteI don't know much about Caru. Looks like good stuff - but I'm pretty sure we got samples at BlogPaws and Bear wouldn't eat it. It's upsetting that the better quality the food, the less likely Bear will eat it.
ReplyDeleteDang, everything has poultry of some form and Zoe is allergic. Otherwise it sounds like a pretty healthy choice.
ReplyDeleteI would choose the Wild Salmon & Turkey Stew for my cat because he loves fish.
ReplyDeleteI would pick Turkey stew
ReplyDeleteWay to got Brulee. We are happy that you enjoyed the food and hopefully you will like the other flavors as well. Looks like really good stuff. Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful day.

I would love to give my cat the chicken and crap stew because it is something different than what she normally eats.
ReplyDeleteMy cats are poultry lovers so they would enjoy turkey or chicken.
ReplyDeleteWowy, I sure would like to try that chicken stew and those itty bites sound nom nom, too! Head nuzzles and nose kisses for the silver dolls.
ReplyDeleteI'd choose Wild Salmon & Turkey Stew, because I like offering my cat different protein sources. It's hard to find some that he likes.
ReplyDeleteNo typical cat food odor? I think my hubby would love that! MOL! I think my cats would like to try the Wild Salmon & Turkey Stew recipe. Great review, thank you!
ReplyDeleteCaru cat foods sound great! They look really meaty in the photos. I'm glad to see that Truffle and Brulee enjoyed them so much. Manna and Dexter would like to try the Turkey recipe. :)
ReplyDeleteThese sound yummy! We're glad they were a success with the girls.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway! I've never heard of Caru before, I'll have to look into it. I totally know what it's like to have a picky pet, one of my dogs is SUPER picky. It's hard to find food and treats that he'll eat consistently.
ReplyDeleteI have heard about their food and seen them at an Expo, they sound really good
ReplyDeleteI do like seeing these new brands focusing on whole food formulas.
ReplyDeleteI didn’t know Caru had a cat option. The store I managed used to carry the dog line. It’s good stuff. I think Plush might have to try that out for his special food on our next trip.
ReplyDeleteMy dogs loved their treats from Caru. I'll have to let my sister know that Caru makes cat food. If I win, I'll give it to her, and she would prefer to give her cat the Wild Salmon and Turkey Stew.
ReplyDeleteThe idea os healthier cat food will make every manufacturer sit up and take notice. Especially is your 'fussy cat' enjoys it.
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of this food!
The chicken & crab stew looks really nice.
