Caturday Art

It's time to be creative again. I love to take a photo that's not quite purrfect and use various themes, art effects, and filters to make the photograph interesting. It's not often I can get a photo where both Truffle and Brulee are looking at me at the same time and I did, but it wasn't clear and the coloring was terrible. It's time for LunaPic!

Both of the girls have stayed really close to me this week. I had two injections in my back and have been in bed, in pain, for the past three days. The lighting in my bedroom is terrible and even though I get some of the best poses of the girls, the photos aren't good quality. I took the photo below and made some changes through LunaPic and PicMonkey.

Original photo of Truffle and Brulee before editing

I started out with LunaPic and searched for some interesting art effects to use. The original photograph was dark, off-color, and a little blurry. I found a new art effect, K3, that I used for the colors. I then decided to play with a filter on top of the art effect and settled on the Emboss filter. I like what it did with the texture and colors.

Next, I opened the photograph in PicMonkey and tried to crop out the extraneous stuff. I added some green eye color to help their eyes "pop" from the gray and white colors. I wanted to use another effect to take away some of the exteriors of the photo and used one of my favorite effects - Frost. I changed the color to blend in with the grays of the photo.

I love the final result. I try not to "throw away" any photograph, even if it's not professional looking, because it's amazing what you can do with filters and effects in various programs.

  1. I love the red and yellow shading - and the colors truly bring out the beautiful color of the girls' eyes.

  7. It looks purrfect and actually TW bets you could make the original perfect with one click using the auto color or auto tone in Photoshop. It's so sharp to begin with.

  9. Miss Paula, you always find such creative combinations for your artworks. This one is so-o very textural and I luv that the colors really highlight Truffle and Brûlées floof and Truffles head tufts. Purr purr purr.

  10. We happened across this adorable post when we were photo-editing some of our last year's writings to take away our clutsy human's typos. We think you did a fabulous job. We like all the "reds" in the picture. Our human never heard of that filter so she learned something new. Thank U for sharing the info as to how you got this catabulous effect!
