Happy Thanksgiving

We want to wish everyone a blessed and safe Thanksgiving today.
Truffle and Brulee

Thanksgiving is a day to give thanks for everything in your life.

I'm thankful Truffle and Brulee have had a healthy year and appear to be thriving. Both of them turned 8 years old this summer and according to many resources, they are considered senior kitties. It's so hard to believe they are that old already. Both go to the veterinarian for their 6-month checkups tomorrow and I pray Truffle's pH values are within normal range and both girls have a positive checkup. I'm thankful for the veterinarians and staff at Cherokee Trail Veterinary Hospital who take excellent care of my two beautiful Silver Shaded Persians and spend their time to be AAHA-accredited, a Cat Friendly Practice, and staff earn Fear Free Certification.

I'm thankful I'm slowly getting better after a very difficult year for me, physically. I'm still in pain and the doctor wants to do some additional tests on my back and is talking about a procedure where they would burn the nerve endings since I am still having so much pain after physical therapy and two different steroid injections. Thankfully, the repair to my left knee where I had a meniscus tear is getting stronger each day. I've finally become adjusted to the CPAP machine and am getting 6-8 hours of sleep. The ENT doctor has recently identified numerous allergens that I'm allergic to (thankfully, not to cats!) and is recommending an injection therapy for a couple of years.

Through all of my physical ailments this year, Truffle and Brulee have become more attentive. They stayed right by me after my knee surgery; monitored me the first few days after getting the CPAP machine to make sure I was breathing correctly (Truffle was literally resting on my chest facing the mask when I woke up); and rested with me in bed as I recuperated from a major fall this past summer where I hurt my knee, elbow, shoulder, and back. Their attentiveness and close proximity has been the best medicine I could ask for.

I'd also like to give a special shout out to everyone who's given their time and expertise to help with the Cat Blogosphere: Terry Frum (Brian's Home) for the beside the scenes IT work and posting on the CB when I was unable to do so, Ann Adamus (Zoolatry) for her blog design and continued Memory graphics, and Yasaar Nakchbendi (Chirpy Cats) for her work on special monthly graphics on the CB. We hope more people will come back to the CB and post their links daily and participate in activities.

There are so many people in the Cat Blogosphere who have become personal friends and have been there for me for emotional support this past year.

I wish each and every one of you a blessed Thanksgiving Day and hope you have much to be thankful for today, even if there are trials you may be experiencing.

  1. Happy Thanksgiving. Hope your health issues continue to approve. My mom is a fan of allergy injections. She was allergic to almost everything as a child and the injections over almost 5 years cured that. Allergies came back 30 years later, but she keeps them at bay with 1000 mg of vitamin D a day. It is something amazing she stumbled onto herself in an article about kids with allergies. They were so bad, she could barely open her eyes and she was miserable. Now with only vitamin D, no other meds, she gets some sniffles and that is it.

  4. Happy Thanksgiving!

We hope the girls have a good VET visit tomorrow and that all of your issues continue to resolve. Mom has a friend who had that back procedure and it helped.

  10. Lovely to see the ladies maturing! They are old pros, at this point. Daffy hates my CPAP and won't come near it when it's on. Hope you all had a happy day. xoxo

  12. We hope Thanksgiving was great for you. I can't even imagine all you've been through this year - but I'm glad the girls were there. I tend to worry, but I know you were in good paws.

    1. It has been hard. Many of you noticed I wasn't doing well at the CWA conference. I'm a little better, but the recent fall has been tough!
