It's summertime and it's time to remind people of the importance of keeping their cats hydrated. PetSafe has designated July as Pet Hydration Month. 80% of a cat's body is made up of water compared to 55-60% in a human. Cats need to drink one ounce of water per body weight each day. Getting proper hydration can help prevent urinary tract infections and urinary disease, aid with energy levels and temperature regulation, and speed recovery time from illness or surgery.
Cats love running water and one way to encourage your cat to drink is to provide her with a pet fountain. Pet fountains entice cats to drink more water, which will help her stay healthy and hydrated. There are several types of fountains to choose from, each with a different type of water flow.
We received the Seaside Stainless Pet Fountain from PetSafe to review as part of our 10th Blogoversary celebration. This fountain provides 3 different ways your cat may choose to drink: bubbling water from the tower, flowing water down the tower, and the bowl. The tower of the Seaside Fountain provides a 360-degree water access so your cat can drink from any side she chooses. This fountain is made of stainless-steel that is scratch-resistant which helps make it durable and safe for your cat.

Brulee likes to drink from the sides of the tower as it gently flows |
The Seaside Stainless Pet Fountain is ultra-quiet and uses a dual-filtration technology to remove pet hair, debris, bad tastes, and odors. The fountain uses a carbon filter, a foam filter, and a fountain pump that work together to provide clean water to drink. The fountain is easy to clean - just place the fountain in the top rack of the dishwasher (hand wash the pump separately).
Features of the Seaside Stainless Pet Fountain are:
- 60-oz water capacity (ideal for cats and small dogs)
- Ultra-quiet, bubbling water flow (soothing for picky or timid pets)
- High-quality, hygienic stainless steel (scratch and rust resistant)
- Modern, compact-style (blends with home decor and fits in small spaces)
- Dual-filtration (removes pet hair, debris, bad tastes and odors)
- Top-rack dishwasher safe (hand wash pump separately)
Our Review
This fountain came in a box with all required parts. I was able to put the fountain together within 10 minutes (included rinsing of carbon filter). There were no bolts or fasteners. The first thing I did was clean the pump with warm water and soap and followed up with a thorough rinsing of all parts of the fountain in cold water. To assemble the pump, I inserted it inside the foam filter and set it down into the indented space on the bottom of the fountain. I needed to feed the cord down the tube and insert a silicone cap and fold the top edges down to get the cord in place and prevent leaks. The next step was to rinse the carbon filter with cold water. I then placed in inside the filter housing. Lastly, I placed the tower down over the filter housing by pressing it down on the silicone gasket to form a seal. I filled the fountain with water to the fill line and plugged it in. It was working within seconds.
My cats are accustomed to pet fountains, but each is different, so it takes some time for them to adjust. Make sure you place the fountain in a location where she will use it. You may want to leave the fountain unplugged at first to allow your pet time to become comfortable drinking from it.
Truffle and Brulee were immediately curious about the fountain. It did take them a couple of days to begin drinking from it. We have a similar PetSafe Fountain (Drinkwell® Sedona) that has a dome and they love drinking from it.
This fountain doesn't take up a lot of space and blends in well with our home decor. It's extremely quiet and I'm confident my cats are getting the appropriate hydration during these hot summer months.

As long as I've lived here, I've always had a water fountain, and I love them! Most often, they are PetSafe. This one looks cool!
ReplyDeleteWe had water fountains before we came to live with Mom Paula!
DeleteThat looks like a nice one!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great fountain!

That looks like such a nice fountain. We love that it's stainless steel, too!
ReplyDeleteThank you very very much for good wishes for my youngest son. (hug)
ReplyDeleteI have had many fountains. Unfortunately, the motor goes out every time.
ReplyDeleteI've had several PetSafe fountains and as long as you clean it regularly, the pumps last a long time.
DeleteWe absolutely love our PetSafe fountain and the stainless steel is my preferred material for the cats to drink from.
ReplyDeleteThis one looks totally gorgeous and I love the whisper quiet commitment. Got to be a good thing!
We use lots of water and ice
ReplyDeleteI have an automatic water bowl but it's plastic. I love the stainless steel one because it is so much better for the fur kids.
ReplyDeleteI've grown to love drinking from my 360 fountain. I never drank water before out of dishes or our previous fountain. This one looks really nice.
ReplyDeleteWe like the 360 too! This fountain has a different flow and is smaller, but it's nice.
DeleteWe love this fountain, especially because it's stainless steel, and also open to the air. We had several of those flower pot fountains at our house...until Mom saw they easily got mold in the pot due to the high humidity in Florida. So we now are back to open bowls. We will definitely look into getting this fountain. Purrs, Herman!!!
ReplyDeleteSo cool! I don't have a cat, but I use cat drinking fountains for my small dogs. Shh, I don't tell them that they're really made more for cats lol! Our current fountain is plastic and I totally want to replace it with something either ceramic or stainless steel soon.
ReplyDeleteThis is for dogs, too!
DeleteI add water to their food and always make sure the water bowl is full and clean. When i travel with my pets like to the vet, i always carry several bottles of water.
ReplyDeleteKeeping pets hydrated is so critical, especially in Summer. This is a lovely fountain! Good tip to give pets a couple of days to adjust to a new fountain.
ReplyDeleteYeah, water is good. We have a clean bowl of fresh water every day and there is a small pond outside we like ta drink from. We actually like the pond water better, but inside at night after the crunchy meal, a good bowl of water is refreshing.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to see if they have an extra large version for my pups!
ReplyDeletePetSafe has a variety of pet fountains and there are fountains designed for large dogs
DeleteI would so love to own one for Layla but my studio is too tiny to put one up unfortunately as the sound of water is so soothing - good luck to all that enters
ReplyDeleteIt's not very large.
DeleteI always put out a big bowl of water for them.
ReplyDeleteWow..a very cool fountain and endorsed by sweeties Truffle and Brulee who seem to be really enjoying it! We'd love to win one to make my kittyneys happy and treat my bladder right! Meow!
ReplyDeletemake sure the water is fresh and put ice cubes in them helps

This looks amazing! I usually keep out a big bowl of fresh water and refill it frequently. I also give my pups some homemade popsicles in the heat to keep them cool. This would be awesome to have! :)
ReplyDeleteI make sure my pets always have fresh water.
ReplyDeleteOh how I love having a water fountain! I've had one since last year. It looks different from your PetSafe one, but they do the same thing. But I'm thinking I need another, so it can be used by Sisters Myrnie and Esmay. Mom thinks so, too. She says, "I really like that the PetSafe fountain can be cleaned in the dishwasher. The we brand is not. I am also thinking the PetSafe fountain, being stainless, would work well in the kitties new catio attached to the house."
