Catit® Divine Shreds™ Premium Cat Food Topper/Mixer

Cats need hydration on a daily basis! They aren't known for drinking enough water, so supplementation with wet food helps provide the hydration cats need. Many people say their cats will only eat kibble, which doesn't provide the hydration cats need on a daily basis. Some wet food, especially pate, can be a little drier and some people tend to add water to it. One way to provide additional hydration to your cat's food and/or encourage her to eat is to give her a supplement that provides flavor, texture, and moisture to your cat's diet.

We've reviewed some of the cat food products from Catit in the past and have always been very impressed. Truffle and Brulee both tend to eat anything we've sampled from Catit. so I was interested in trying out the Divine Shreds™ Premium Cat Food Topper/Mixer. The Divine Shreds™ are an excellent way of adding flavor, texture, and moisture to your cat's dry food diet. My two cat eat both kibble and wet food, but Brulee tends to prefer the kibble over the wet food. If she does eat the wet food, she likes a food with a lot of liquid in it. Brulee also tends to be a little picky about her food.

Divine Shreds™

The Divine Shreds Premium Cat Food Topper/Mixer is natural and clean feeding with only 4 ingredients. This topper/mixer is rich in protein and low in calories. The Divine Shreds are not designed to provide enough nutritional value to be the only food fed to your cat. It is a hydrating supplementary wet food that can be mixed with kibble and/or wet food or as a treat. There are no grains, additives, preservatives or by-products.

The Divine Shreds are available in chicken recipes (salmon & pumpkin, liver & broccoli, tuna & carrot, mackerel & broccoli) and tuna recipes (chicken & wakame, shrimp & pumpkin, seabream & wakame, shirasu & sweet potato). The Divine Shreds are in pouches and is full of perfectly sized, tender shreds of fish or meat with lots of flavorful moisture.

The Divine Shreds can be purchased individually ($1.69) or in multipacks ($17.99) as chicken or tuna-based toppers. The pouches are easy to open by hand through tearing at the notch on top of the pouch. Catit recommends scooping out the contents with a spoon, but I found that pouring directly from the pouch is just as easy as long as the pouch is shaken vigorously prior to opening.

Each pouch contains a single serving and can be used as a topping over dry kibble or mixed in with wet food. Divine Shreds can also be used as a treat, which is great because they are rich in protein and low in calories. We must stress that Divine Shreds is a supplementary wet food and should be accompanied by a complete wet food or complete kibble in order for your cat to eat a complete and well-balanced diet.

Truffle and Brulee both thoroughly enjoyed all of the flavors of the Divine Shreds. I've given them cooked chicken as a treat in the past, so I felt they'd enjoy the shreds of chicken and tuna. Brulee was very happy because she had plenty of liquid to lap up! I haven't tried the Divine Shreds on top of their kibble yet, because they eat their kibble with no problems. I'm going to save several of these packages for times Brulee gets a URI (which happens at least twice a year) to encourage her to eat when she has a stuff nose.

Single Feeding Dish

Catit also provided us with the single feeding dish to review.

Truffle is happy with the Divine Shreds and the Catit Feeding Dishes

We have a variety of feeding dishes in our home: stainless steel, ceramic, and glass. We don't use plastic dishes because they can become scratched easily and bacteria can form inside the scratches. Using plastic dishes can also cause reactions to your cat's chin, such as chin acne.

The Catit Feeding Dish Single (both black and white base) comes in two parts: the stainless steel bowl and the durable plastic holder. The stainless steel feeding dish is shallow with a whisker-free design for those cats who don't like to put their heads inside a deep bowl. The hygienic and dishwasher-safe stainless steel dish has a capacity of 200 ml (6.83 fl oz). The holder has non-skid feed so the dish will stay in place while your cat is eating. The video below is from Catit and it shows the difference between a traditional bowl and the shallow, whisker-free design of the Catit Feeding Dishes.

The feeding dish single retails for $5.99. Catit also offers a double feeding dish which retails for $9.99.

I use the single dishes because Brulee doesn't like to eat near Truffle. Brulee has a flatter face and doesn't like to eat her food from the traditional, deeper dishes. She easily ate out of the Catit feeding dishes.

  1. That does sound really, really good...and reasonably health too.

  2. My Cat Daisy Mae gets her hydration through water and several ice cubes daily. She also drinks the water from melted ice cubes.
My Cat Daisy Mae eats both dry and wet food mixed. Chicken flavor is her favorite. Would love to try those toppers on top of her food in a new metal feeding bowl. Those toppers sound tasty for my sweet Cat.
Maybe those toppers would help her allergies.
    Hope we win

  3. Truffle definitely looks like she approves Divine Shreds premium! This looks pretty good and the pricing is reasonable. I'll have to try this and see if my furry niece likes it. My cat Dusty definitely liked the wet food with extra liquid/gravy as she liked lapping up her food too. Thanks for sharing your in depth review.

  4. I'm totally eyeing those dishes for my small dogs, lol! It's funny how many products created for cats work really well for small dogs too. We have a Catit water fountain that both of my dogs love, and those dishes look like they would be the perfect size for my boys!

  5. We get canned food most of the day and kibble at 5 pm for the crunchiness as a treat. And we drink water from a bowl he cleans and fills daily. He laughs that the water goes straight to the litter boxes and he scoops it out...

  6. Laila stays well hydrated with her sink water and wet food. Again, your reviews are just so excellent. You need to open up your own advertising agency.

  7. What a good idea! I like having toppers for kibble, and that bowl is pawsome!

  8. We have a lot of water fountains around the house, but this food would be helpful too for more hydration.

  9. We can't get these in New Zealand but they look tasty I have not tried toppers.

  10. I love toppers and although I do not have a cat I do give Layla toppers on her food although she is spoiled eating home cooked food most of the time. Good luck to everyone entering the giveaway

  11. I definitely agree that any topper should be simple, so I appreciate that this company kept the ingredient list short. Good luck to everyone entering the giveaway! For our old kitty we tend to just rotate foods instead of topping them just because we found they would just eat the topper and nothing else. So now she is rotated through two homemade recipes and two canned recipes.

  12. We adopted a kitten this summer and I am hoping she is staying hydrated. We give her some canned food every day, but I think she would love to try Catit Divine Shreds.

  13. I leave water in several places in the house and keep it fresh thats how mine stay hydrated.

  14. They have several water bowls around becuase they do drink alot. Thank you

  15. My indoor cats drink lots of water provided to them from a fountain bowl and my outside cats I give them fresh water on the back deck several times per day.
